You can feel the history and culture of the Last samurai by experiencing swordsmanship in Hino City, the hometown of the Shinsengumi. Masao Inoue, the chairman of the Tennen Rishin-ryu Hino Dojo and a descendant of the Shinsengumi executive Genzaburo Inoue, will lead the experience program. If you come early, you can explore the west side of Tokyo (for example, Takahata-fudouson Kongoji Temple, Mt. Takao, etc.) after this lesson. All the kimonos in my collection were hand-picked and purchased by me. Some items were donated by friends, and they all have history and weren’t mass-produced. Not all but many kimonos are made of silk. I want you to feel the texture of Japanese silk. This cultural experience will take place at my house in a traditional tatami room.
