From Skye to the Sky
John our driver/guide was fabulous! We learned so much! He took us to so many beautiful places with breathtaking scenery and fun things to do. The Jacobite Steam train was a highlight for me! And we loved John's musical selections too!!

Pricey
The tour guide Brendan was fabulous but no I don’t think the its worth the price the tour bus was great and Brendan was great but for me paid over 200 and most of my time was spent sitting on the bus just not worth the money but to each his own

The best 3 day experience of Skye
Excellent guide, Torquil, who was friendly and helpful and went out of his way to keep us safe and happy. The accommodation at The Skye Inn was comfortable and the staff friendly and happy to help in any way.

We stayed in small charming accommodations with lovely service and excellent food. If you have mobility issues it is important to let people know as some rooms were up hills and on upper floors with stairs only.

Super fun. Especially if you’re a Harry Potter fan. You see lots of the film locations and we saw the train in famous spots as well as getting to ride it.

Torquil was a phenomenal guide through the highlands providing anecdotes and additional details from growing up in the highlands! He added so many additional details and stops throughout of fun things to look at that are easy to miss when you’re driving through. Would absolutely book again, Torquil made the trip!

This tour was great. Our guide, Billy, is a true local and very knowledgeable about the area. We enjoyed seeing the Jacobite train, Glencoe, Loch Ness and much more! He was very gracious with his knowledge of the area and its history. Highly recommend!

Well worth it
Stefan was a great guide. Even saved us from an angry bogle.
We saw and learned more than you’d possibly think, from the clan battles to myths to geology and history.
Since we will be seeing more of Scotland after the tour, he wrote a list of sites for us to visit on our own.

Amazing day in the Highlands!!!
This was our first day of touring on our three night stop in Inverness. We wanted to book a private tour so that we could get a lay of the land and also let my husband enjoy the scenery and not concentrate so much on having to drive. There were five of us, myself, my husband, and our three teenage children. Our driver, Kevin was wonderful. He picked us up from our hotel and started off right towards the Glenfinnan viaduct. We got there in plenty of time to hike up and see the train as it came across the overpass. From there we went on to Glencoe, Fort William, Lock ness and several other different stops along the Highlands taking lots of pictures. There were plenty of local Scottish snacks in the van and even carrots to feed the hairy coos! Kevin was so helpful on giving us tips for our drive to the Isle of Skye the following day. He even taught my husband about how to correctly navigate the single track roads. I can’t recommend this tour enough! It really was the highlight of our 10 day trip in Scotland.

Great Getaway
Very fun and off the beaten path tour. Lots of time in the van though. Our guide was so knowledgeable and unflappable, always considerate and a great driver.

Nice trip with Highland Experience
John is professional, nice and helpful. He told us history of Scotland and brought us to additional secret spots. Under his proper arrangement, everything went smooth and all of us enjoyed. We would love to meet with John again if we visited Highland in the future.

Best Tour Ever!
This was hands down one of the best trips we have experienced. Our guide, Duffy was amazing! We were able to see so much and our small group allowed for a lot of interaction and education on the various sites we visited. Duffy went out of his way to ensure everyone had an amazing time and catered the trip to our group and our interests. I highly recommend this incredible tour!

When to visit

You can ride one way between Fort William and Mallaig, or choose a round-trip Jacobite Steam Train tour that allows for an hour and a half to explore Mallaig before the return journey.
Advance booking is highly recommended—a very limited number of same-day tickets are available.
Due to the vintage design of the train’s carriages, the Jacobite trains are not wheelchair accessible; mobility scooters and non-folding wheelchairs cannot be brought onboard.
Wear layers suitable for changing weather—it can get chilly in the Highlands even in summer, and there is always a chance of rain in Scotland.
