A great day outside the hustle and bustle of the city
Had a wonderful first day in Uganda with Shedrack. He hooked me up with an e bike as the company is soon to introduce these, which was the perfect solution to a muddy ride after the morning rain. He paid attention to my abilities as a rider and was so willing to take pictures for the duration of the tour.

See the real Uganda!
The ride was perfectly orchestrated from start to finish. The organizers made sure I had a bike that fit and was comfortable. The boat ride to the island was short but smooth and beautiful. The ride on the peninsula was spectacular. I felt like I was seeing the real Uganda. The people, especially the kids were so friendly! The ride was not super challenging but just enough to count as good exercise and to really feel like I saw some wonderful sites. Thanks so much!

Mountain Biking on Lake Victoria “island.”
The mountain biking was a great workout! There are lots of large hills to navigate with dirt roads and mud and potholes and protruding rocks! The bikes are 10 speed and solid—I used the gears a lot. I loved seeing the area. It was interesting and eye opening because of how the people live and toil there. Shedrack, the guide, was amazing! He’s so nice, so patient, and speaks excellent English. It was an awesome excursion!!!

Lake Victoria
  • Spending time at Lake Victoria is a must for nature lovers and travelers looking to get off the beaten path.

  • The Ssese Islands are still relatively untouched by tourism; tranquility, however, comes at the cost of a lack of modern amenities.

  • Don’t forget a jacket for lakeside evenings; the lake is so large it has its own microclimate which results in slightly cooler evenings.

  • Be aware that storms are common, so it’s worth checking the weather ahead of your voyage.

  • It’s recommended to avoid swimming, as a lot of raw waste ends up in the waters.
