Top Inverness How to Get Around in 2026

Glen Affric is often called the finest glen in Scotland, and this is a full day in it rather than a look at it. A nine-hour private day from Inverness taking in Dog Falls, the water at Affric before the wind gets up, and Plodda Falls on the way home, through the largest fragment of ancient Caledonian pinewood left in the country. The pace is yours - if the light is right we stay until it is not. One group per day, in a fully electric car that makes no noise at a viewpoint.

The train everyone photographs, from the places the photographs are taken. A private day from Inverness to Glenfinnan, Arisaig and Mallaig, built around the Jacobite timetable so you are on the hillside before the good ground goes. One sighting at the viaduct is promised and two or three are likely, because the train stops and we do not. This is a photography day rather than a train ride - no ticket needed, and no queue for one. Loch Shiel from the monument, the silver sands at Camusdarach, and the harbour at Mallaig where the road west runs out. One group per day, in a fully electric car.

Explore the landscapes of Skye on a private tour that takes you to the Fairy Pools and the historic Talisker Distillery. A twelve-hour day starting from Inverness, with time to walk into the Fairy Pools under the Black Cuillin and sample a dram at Talisker, and a different road home through Lochcarron and Achnasheen rather than the way you came. One group per day, so the pace is yours and nothing is rushed. Travel in a fully electric car - quiet at every viewpoint and no exhaust where you stop.
