Our tour through Hamburg with Catherine!
We were 2 couples from the U. S.. Catherine was our guide. She was easy going and took her time explaining the history of Hamburg. It was a plus that Catherine was so fluent in English! Catherine went deep into the history of the area and gave great explanation of the revitalization of the urban developing. We talked about architecture and food all in one! The stops we made along the way for tastings offered an amazing mix of delightful treats. We had plenty of time at each stop to enjoy the food and even a beer. If you can request Catherine you will not be disappointed! Thank you Catherine, Jon, Kelly, Terry & Carole. P. S., we would have left you a review on Adventure Tours too, but could not maneuver through the web site in German!
HafenCity
HafenCity marks a 388-acre urban redevelopment plan, an old port being reenvisioned as a hub for arts, culture, and amenities. Planning was approved in 2000, and the project is still incomplete—estimates put the ribbon-cutting between 2025 and 2030.
But that doesn’t mean you should wait till 2030 to explore this new district. Within HafenCity lies the Speicherstadt, the largest warehouse district in the world (and a UNESCO site); the striking Elbphilarmonie Concert Hall; the Hamburg Dungeon; and numerous parks, restaurants, and more.
