Best Tour with Jovanna

Best tour during our time in Costa Ricca so far! Jovanna was amazing at spotting the animals so we were able to see everything - white faced monkey and her baby, howler monkeys, toucan, macaw and a porcupine sleeping on a tree. Walking with nature

We enjoyed our walk through the secondary and primary forest. We went early & glad we did - before it got hot. We saw some birds (no macaws, toucans or parrots) and a pit viper curled in a tree. Antonio, our guide, showed us a pace at the beach afterward where we saw macaws. The path through the park is easily navigated and fairly flat so anyone can enjoy it.

Ronald was a fantastic guide that took his time to point out many different birds, sloths, and monkeys to our group. He learned what animals our group were most interested in and watched for them to point them out. Ronald was great at taking photos for us through his telescope to ensure we have memorable shots to take home! Highly recommend Ronald! We had a wonderful time!

Incredible!!!

Wow! Jeison must be the fastest scoper in the west. He was able to get us such great looks at a variety of size and species of birds. He comes with over 20 years of birding experience and was very knowledgeable about all the other flora and fauna in the forest as well. If you’re new to birding in Costa Rica, or just want to increase your likelihood of catching rare species, Jeison is the guide for you. We even got a quick look at the Baird’s Trogon! Though I think the highlight for us was the view we got of the Turquoise-browned Motmot. Jason was kind, helpful, and generous. We spent a few hours walking Carara Park until closing, then he took us to a dry forest down the road where we added several new species to our list.

Carara National Park Birding - Great dry season 1/2 day

If you are headed to Manuel Antonio or on the way west from San Jose, Carara National Park is a good 1/2 day stop. If you are looking for birds specifically, I highly recommend Jeison's service to anyone. We felt that Jeison went above and beyond expectation with his guide service and tour, and even guided us to spots outside of the park to see more birds that we wanted to see after the alotted time was finished. The park loop trail was nice, with some extremely large ficus trees, but most of the bird species we saw were along the Sendero Laguna Meandrica, which was open due to the season. But follow Jeison's suggestions for the best experience.
