KIWENGWA FOREST & CAVES PARTICIPANT DISCLAIMER, WAIVER, AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK By registering for and participating in this guided walking tour of the Kiwengwa Forest & Caves, you explicitly acknowledge and agree to the following terms and conditions: Nature of the Terrain: This tour involves walking through a dense, tropical coral rag forest and navigating uneven, unlit limestone cave systems featuring sharp stalactites and stalagmites. Slippery rock surfaces, low ceilings, and protruding tree roots are natural characteristics of the site. Presence of Wildlife: The reserve is a protected, completely wild sanctuary. It is the natural habitat for native fauna including Zanzibar red colobus monkeys, blue/Sykes' monkeys, suni antelopes, and Aders's duikers. The ecosystem and cave systems also support active populations of several species of snakes, bats, and wild insects. Inherent Risks: You understand that wild animal and insect behavior is entirely unpredictable. Risks include, but are not limited to, animal or insect bites, stings, contact with venomous reptiles, slipping or falling on coral rocks, and head injuries inside the caves. Assumption of Risk: You voluntarily assume all physical, medical, and environmental risks associated with this trek. You confirm you are in adequate physical health and have no mobility impairments that would restrict your safety on uneven jungle trails or inside wild caverns. Mandatory Guide Instruction: You must remain with your designated local guide at all times. You agree to strictly adhere to all safety commands, including restrictions against touching fragile cave structures, disturbing local wildlife, or handling indigenous plants. Release of Liability: To the maximum extent permitted by local Tanzanian law, KIWENGWA FOREST & CAVES its guides, and agents are fully absolved of any liability for personal injury, illness, loss of property, or death occurring during or as a result of this tour. Critical Pre-Tour Briefing Points for Kiwengwa: Watch for Snakes: The coral rag forest floor provides dense camouflage. Guests must stay strictly behind the guide in single-file on designated forest trails. Cave Etiquette: Flashlights are mandatory for navigating the semi-wild North and South Caves. Warn guests to watch their heads around hanging root systems and low stalactites. Keep Wildlife Wild: Unlike the highly habituated monkeys in Jozani Forest, the red colobus and Sykes' monkeys in Kiwengwa are completely wild and timid. Guests must maintain a quiet distance, refrain from making sudden movements, and never offer food.
