When we arrived an hour before our tour was to begin there was nobody there and another tour guide from another company had kindly helped us contact the operator We waited for an hour to start which was at 2 pm the reason he gave us was some people were eating his English was not very good We asked at Chan Chan about were the ancient kitchen and bathrooms were in the palace he never explain we got to Chan Chan so late we had to leave early When I signed up I called and asked for a tour of Chan Chan for 4 hours this was 1.5 hours and then went to the beach which I never ask for

Our tour guide was Maritza who clearly loves her job and welcomed my endless questions and answered them all. I don’t understand people who say this is a disappointment. It’s a really fantastic place to be. I only wish the tour went a little more slowly. We first visited the Huaca del Iris and then one of the big palaces. Pictures of the place do not do it justice. If you love seeing how ancient societies lived you should go. The sun is intense so sunblock up and wear a hat, but I didn’t find the heat a problem.
