Worse tour guide

Edith was the worse tour guide I’ve ever had. She was impatient, offensive and condensing. She was insulting. She got upset because I asked if she can take me get snacks before the tour and told me she’s the best tour guide and she doesn’t care about what I want. After she ended up taking me by a store along the way, she she I am a diva in German. My mother understood and surprised her. Edith agreed and told my mom I’m spoiled and it’s her fault I am that way. She was too intrusive and offensive about my personal life. My mother is an elder with an injured knee. She walked way ahead of us and did not walk as a group. We felt we had to rush to try to keep up with her pace. Please go with a local tour guide

Firstly, tour guiding can be a demanding job, and guides often have to manage a lot of different requests and expectations from guests. While Edith might have seemed impatient when you asked about snacks, it's possible she was trying to manage the timing of the tour to ensure you got the best experience. Sometimes, deviations from the planned itinerary can affect the overall experience for the group. Edith has been living in Tobago for most of her life and is recognized byTobago’s tourism community as one of the best local tour guides. It's common for guides to be proud of their work and to have confidence in their skills. However, if it came across as dismissive of your needs, I understand how that could be frustrating. As for Edith's interaction with your mother, it sounds like she might have been trying to make conversation but didn't quite hit the mark. It's unfortunate that it came across as intrusive or offensive. Finally, regarding the pacing of the tour, it can be challenging for guides to balance the needs of different members of the group, especially when there are mobility issues. Edith might have been trying to ensure the tour stayed on schedule while still accommodating your mother's needs. However, it's clear that her approach didn't work well in this case. In conclusion, while Edith's approach might not have been ideal, it's important to consider that she was likely trying to provide the best experience possible within the constraints of her job. Tour guiding can be a challenging profession, and guides like Edith often have to make quick decisions to ensure everyone has a good time. You did not mention that you were on an island tour with another company the day before where Edith also was the tour guide. The fact that other reputable companies than Yes Tourism hire Edith for their tours speaks for itself. We did not have a single negative review about Edith in more than 25 years.
