Itinerary

This full-day tour begins with a Port of Haifa pickup in an air-conditioned minivan. Then it’s a short drive through the Carmel Mountains to Nazareth, the capital and largest city in the Northern District of Israel, also known as “the Arab capital of Israel.” In the New Testament, Nazareth is described as the home of Mary and the childhood home of Jesus. As a result, it’s a center of Christian pilgrimage, with many shrines commemorating biblical events.

On this tour, visit the Church of the Annunciation, where the Angel Gabriel visited the Virgin Mary to tell her she would be the mother of Jesus. See the Church of St. Joseph, built over the carpentry workshop of Mary’s husband, Joseph, and pass through Kafr Kanna, where Jesus turned water into wine.

Farther north, pass by the Church of the Multiplication next to the Sea of Galilee. This is where the miracle of the loaves and fishes took place in the Gospel of John. Walk along the shores of the Sea of Galilee and visit the village of Capernaum, where Jesus spent time teaching in the local synagogue. It was also the home town of the apostles Peter, James, Andrew, and John.

Finally, travel to the southern end of the Sea of Galilee, where the Jordan River meets the Dead Sea in Tiberias. This is where Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist. And make a stop to see the Mount of Beatitudes, a hill in northern Israel where Jesus is believed to have delivered the Sermon on the Mount.

The tour concludes here. Board the coach for the return trip to the Port of Haifa.

A trip to remember!

Catherine_A, Oct 2023
This was an incredible tour to several biblical sites. Our guide was so interesting and knowledgeable and helped make this a memorable experience. We learned so much!

Another great tour with Ryan

Xuemin_Y, Apr 2023
Another wonderful day with our tour guide Ryan in Nazareth and Galilee (April 20, 2023) after a great day in Jerusalem. His wide knowledge of history and Christianity amazed us. He gave us a bonus visiting spot of a Greek Orthodox Church while we had extra time. He described the battle of Hattin when we drove passing the battlefield. He also thoughtfully told us the best photo location of every visiting spot. Strongly recommended!

Glorious day In Galilee

Tyler_N, Apr 2023
We had a great day in Nazareth and the Sea of Galilee. Merona was a great guide (we had her the previous day as well). She is informative and obviously is passionate about her job. The sites are very powerful and moving. Highly recommend!

Disappointed in Haifa

Roberta_A, Mar 2023
The guide left a lot to be desired. This was a small group tour of about sixteen people in a minivan with that capacity and most of the time the people sitting in the back could not hear him. He was an Israeli doing a tour of mostly Christian sites and he attitude was somewhat distasteful. Overall not a great experience.

Response from Host, Mar 2023

Sorry you were disappointed in the tour. Others in the group seemed very satisfied but we appreciate not everyone sees things the same way and we will continue to try and deliver tours that everyone in the group will feel are great! Thank you1

Most frustrating- no information given in confirmation email with tickets

edward_p, Sep 2022
The tour provided no information as to where to meet at the Haifa port in the confirmation email with the tickets provided the day prior to the tour. The port is quite large and the distance to the port exit is almost 1/2 mile. There was no telephone number provided as to who to call, if we have any problem. We rushed from one end of the port to the next looking for our tour, for over 30 minutes. We asked everyone who knew where our group was. Just as we about to give up, we found our tour group. It was most stressful experience ever. Very frustrated experience Edward

Response from Host, Sep 2022

This is NOT a review of the tour but the information that Viator provides. Everyone receives the SAME information as far as we can tell - and of course our phone number and instructions where to meet are clearly provided. Unless there was some 'bug' in the Viator website - ALL the information is provided in advance - you just have to read it carefully and print it so you don't forget where you have to go for the meeting point. Thank you! GuidedToursIsrael

Phenomenal tour guide and excursion! Ask for Alex

Ana_J, Apr 2022
This excursion was amazing, but who made it a fantastic experience was the tour guide Alex. We were a group of 10 passengers, and he was always providing information along every step of the way, very knowledgeable in all aspects. From all the excursions on this 7 days trip he went above and beyond! I which I would have scheduled Alex for Istanbul, but next time we will request him. He was phenomenal! Thank you Alex!

A Great Day Trip

Viator always delivers. The local guide Mina was wonderful and very attentive. We saw a lot in one day. Our guide even arranged for us to eat lunch at a Kubutz. Our highlight was our Mom renewing her baptism in the Jordan river. Just fabulous!

Nazareth & Galilee Tour

Nancy A, Nov 2019
This was a very good tour and we had the same guide as our previous day in Jerusalem. We booked this instead of the cruise ship option because it was a small group (14-16) vs. a bus of 40-50. The descriptions were virtually the same. The Church of the Annunciation, the Church of the Multiplication, and the Mount of Beatitudes were beautiful. The ancient sites of Gallilee - Yarendit, Capernaum, and Tabgha, were very special. There was a lot to see there. This is a WALKING tour. Be prepared. You need to pay for a couple things. Shekels are not required, American dollars are acceptable. Lunch was not good. I'd recommend bringing snack food or something from the ship or your hotel. Overall, very good tour. The historical sights are amazing, which is what we came to see.

Stranded! The Van broke down, we exited on the side of the road to wait for a replacement . UNEXCEPTIONABLE!

OnAir430841, Aug 2019
We were not met at the site designated in the instructions aviator sent. After searching outdoors for 25 minutes we found our guide with a sign hiding our names on the bottom list with her hand. The Van was bumpy, broke down, we exited, waited on the side of the road for a replacement. I have photos to prove this. We have photos of the the bus driver using his phone while driving. The “Fast Food” lunch stop was dirty and undesirable. I can list more inconveniences we suffered but in summary I would not use Viator again unless such issues are resolved.

Wow this is a must tour for any first time visitor. From the minute you walk off the ship, to the minute you return, it was breath taking. Our driver and tour guide knew how to get the most out of the day. These kinds of tour adventures are so dependent on one thing..YOUR GUIDE! Ours was RYAN... he was fantastic. Answered every question and was a wealth of knowledge. He maxamized the time spent at all of the top locations, and even tossed in a great local stop for a bite to eat. Cant thank him enough for making the tour so fantastic. We were so fortunate to have RYAN on both the Haifa and Jerusalem tours... ask for him if given the chance.

Stephen R, Nov 2017
The guide passed himself off as an archeology grad who is a history buff. He pretended to be knowledgeable about everything but his knowledge of Biblical references to places was really lacking. Pretended, e.g., to translate Latin but didn't have a clue. Itinerary was fine but to have someone pass himself off as knowledgeable when he was not was painful. It was have been more tolerable if he hadn't felt that he needed to talk incessantly.

Amy R, Nov 2017
Driver was 38 minutes late, our guide, Mina, said it was due to traffic, then later on said there was hardly any traffic today since most Jewish people dont drive on Saturday. Mina said if we got separated, or wanted to shop, at 1st site to meet outside at 10:15am. I got separated, waited at the rally point...no group. By 10:30, Im panicked, thinking they left without me, so I hesitantly went back in to see if maybe they were looking for me. Mina was still yapping about something and had no idea I was missing. When everyone else in the group asked where I was, I said I was waiting at the rally point, like Mina said...who stared at me like she had no idea what I was talking about. Lunch was supposed to be at 1pm. Lunch was at 2:38pm. I was ready to vomit by this time as I was so hungry. We barely had time to eat before we were ushered out of there to the next site. Some of the group asked to go take pictures and she told them to meet at a location by x time. Then she looked at me I clearly wasnt going anywhere and asked me if I understood and repeated her edict. Due to her poor planning, and love of her own voice, we were unable to visit the last site on our itinerary. So she had the bright idea to take us somewhere not on the itinerary - which was closed to tourists when we got there. She then led us on a DARK tour of the outside of the property and gave people in the front row another impromptu tour of Haifa on the way back to the port. The trip was exhaustingly longer than it should have been. Skip this tour.

Our trip through Viator was everything we could wish. We had a small group -16. We had an amazing, energetic, lovely guide -Abbey. We had a place of extraordinary meaning in Gallilee and Nazareth that touched our hearts and souls so that we reminisce almost daily about our experience since our return. We love the place of Jesus work in Galilee. The scenes from the scriptures come allive! Our guide was so gracious in making our excurision meaningful for us. She also loved her country of Israel and her people.

We had a great day, our tour guide Micky was excellent even to the point of baking the bus a cake, this was the second tour our group had with Micky. We had 16 peaple on our tour whih was a good number, people booking on the cruise boat said their bus of 50 were too many, waiting for everybody to get on and off, it appears we went to more plaes than the organised tours off the cruise boat, maybe due to the smaller numbers. It is a long day but well worth it and if you are going to book this tour make sure you ask for Micky as your tour guide.

missed a few places because of crowds then ended up having lunch in a restaurant in a dirty boat yard.. would not recommend.

Response from Host, Oct 2017

TOUR OPERATOR COMMENT: Thank you for your feedback. We apologize for the large crowds. In the peak season there can be many people in the small churches which are not built to accommodate so many guests at once. Please be aware, we certainly do not provide lunch in a dirty boatyard and we hope other guests are not mislead by this comment. We offer small-group tours for half the price of the large bus tours which are offered by the cruise ship. They certainly cannot avoid the crowds and they also normally have 5 times as many people on their bus than in our vans. Thank you for reading our comments and we promise to continue and work hard to provide the best value for money excursions in Israel.

Steven_R, Oct 2017
If you were raised in the Christian faith, you've heard of these places since your infancy. A very interesting tour, that will take you through non-Jewish parts of Israel and you will hear plenty about the influence of the Arab and Christian minorities. The tour is fast-paced, and won't leave you much time to see the local culture. On the other hand, you will see Nazareth, the Sea of Galilee, and the Jordan River -- and if Mickey is your guide you will hear both the Biblical accounts and a rational Jewish account of the life and times of Jesus.

Edward_G, Jan 2017
This tour covered most of the sites that we wanted to see. Our only problem was that our tour bus had a broken belt and we had to wait at the kibbutz for over an hour while it was replaced and we had to have lunch there instead of our intended restaurant. This took away some time from other sites. Miki, our guide, was wonderful and talked almost the entire time. Due to our delay we missed seeing the Baha'i Gardens and temple.
