Make your own way to the Cape Bruny Lighthouse for your tour.
After an introduction from your guide, climb the wrought iron spiral staircase to the tower balcony. The lighthouse dates back to 1836 and stands 374 feet (114 meters) high. It is the only lighthouse that is open to the public in southern Tasmania.
From there, take in sweeping views of the Tasman Sea, South East Cape, Whale Head and small islands that dot the coast.
Get great photo ops in every direction, and keep an eye out for albatross, gannets and many other seabirds. You might see short-tailed shearwaters and wedge-tailed eagles swooping close to the tower, and further out on the ocean you can catch sight of migrating whales (depending on the season).
View the superbly engineered light prisms up close, and hear about the history of the convict-built lighthouse, and the lighthouse keepers that worked in this remote locale. Hear firsthand stories from your guide about living at a lighthouse and some of the last light keepers in Australia.

Very educational and cool experience! Learnt so much about the history and operations of the historical lighthouse. Highly recommend to anyone who’s visiting Bruny Island! The gravel road drive and windy walk up the lighthouse was definitely worth it.

A very informative lighthouse tour, of the building itself and about the lives of the Keepers and their families.
It was a beautiful weather day, so enjoyed our outside balcony experience. There was a small group, so we felt like we had a personalized tour.

Tour guide was very knowledgeable, allowed us to take our time (we have a son with special needs) answered all questions .
Would highly recommend it.
Thus it as the highlight of the island for us

A guided tour inside the lighthouse was excellent. The guide was knowledgeable, interesting and answered all our questions. It's a must see if you are on Bruny. Loved every minute.

The day we visited the Lighthouse it was raining. The steep climb to the lighthouse in the rain was very unpleasant. Once at the actual lighthouse, the tour was very informative.
