What To Expect

Depart from your Santiago hotel in a comfortable, air-conditioned minivan and relax during the 30-minute drive into the rugged mountain range known as the Cordillera. On arrival, don professional riding gear and select your horse from a herd of gentle Criollos, mild creatures famed for their long-distance stamina upon mountainous terrain.

After a brief orientation session from your professional guide, set out on a slow saunter to explore the splendid surroundings of Santiago. During a half-day ride, scale mountain paths, traverse meandering streams and admire the dramatic natural panoramas on offer.

Observe the flora for diverse wildlife species as your guide offers fascinating insight into the abundant birdlife and complex eco-system of the enclave. Capture fabulous photographs at a variety of picturesque viewpoints before continuing your journey to an authentic arriero ranch.

Enjoy a warm welcome from the ranch owner and his family, sipping a steaming cup of coffee to refresh after the long ride. Feast upon a flavorsome and fulfilling picnic lunch of freshly baked bread, creamy cheeses, meats, and exotic fruit paired with wine.

Relax during the return journey back to your hotel, where the adventurous excursion concludes.

This was a truly unique experience! Will had a plethora of knowledge about the history of Chile. He was capable, attentive, and well-versed. He offered wonderful suggestions on shopping, activities, and food in Santiago. The ride was a once-in-a-lifetime experience! This is a wonderful way to see Chile and Santiago from a new perspective! Will's confidence and care in his work were evident, making our party feel at ease. If you have the opportunity to take part in this experience, we highly recommend it! Thank you so much!

MAKE SURE YOU CONTACT THE LOCAL GUIDE!!! I was looking forward to a sunset ride and a BBQ. Thank goodness I contacted the local number to inquire about my pickup driver and vehicle. She didn't know anything about my 4 pm reservation and asked if I could ride the next morning at 10 am. Well...I paid, so I felt as if I had no choice. RIDE: The two guides were great. The horses were fine. The tour was basic but pleasant. The food was a disappointment although our 'chef' was nice. Nothing was typical Chilean cuisine, especially the Club crackers served with the ham and cheese. Avocados are a major produce in Chile, but none were served. The salmon was minimal. Hi Juliette, Thank you for your feedback. We will look into the picnic and make sure to re-evaluate what goes in. You mentioned you were expecting a BBQ, but that option is only available as an add-on for a booking group of 4+ people, and this was not the case, so maybe there was a misunderstanding of our listing on that issue. As for the change of date, your booking came through late Saturday evening for the Sunday afternoon. Normally we don't have any problems accommodating last-minute bookings, but this was a special case, as the ranch staff were all attending an event in a rural area with spotty cell reception, and they didn't let us know they would be closing that day beforehand. Because of this I couldn't confirm our tour. Please know that I spent most of the morning chasing up the people to try and accommodate your ride on the day you requested. However, sometimes unexpected things do happen, and I very much appreciate your flexibility in changing tour dates.

This horseback riding tour was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. Cristóbal was an exceptional guide and a genuinely warm, personable host - knowledgeable not only about riding through the Andes but also deeply insightful when it came to Chilean history and culture. I truly enjoyed learning from him along the way, and his passion made the entire journey feel meaningful and immersive, not just scenic. The lunch prepared by the local huasos was absolutely incredible - so fresh, flavorful, and full of charm. It added a special, authentic touch that elevated the whole experience. Communication beforehand and the pickup process were seamless and stress-free, making everything easy from the start. I would 100% recommend this tour to anyone staying in Santiago - it’s a must-do.

A magnificent horseback riding experience through the hills of the Andes. Gustavo, our private Waso (Chilean cowboy!) guide pointed out all of the flora and fauna along a beautiful path overlooking Santiago. His concern for our safety was a priority and the horses, just lovely. We ended our journey with a delicious barbecue lunch.

Will, Mirta and Orlando were very friendly and professional guides. We all enjoyed this activity very much and it was a memorable and well organized outing. Wonderful private tour! We had excellent communication prior to pick up with lots of helpful tips to guide us safely to our pick up spot(since our hotel was outside the pickup range. Our guide Will, was prompt and he was extremely knowledgeable about the city, the culture and set the tone for our fabulous horseback adventure. The horses were gentle and our ride was wonderful. We saw such beautiful scenery: with the Andes as a backdrop, we saw eagles, condors, meadowlarks, quail, a rabbit and the large statuesque cacti. Will was very attentive in getting many photos for us. After our ride we sat down for a tasty charcuterie of all local cheeses, meats, and of course wine! A truly wonderful adventure thanks to Will and his wife making it such a memorable experience!

A fantastic trip, geared more for the inexperienced rider I would say as its a gentle walk through the mountains. We have never ridden before other than donkeys on the beach but felt totally at ease on the horse following direction from our wonderful guide Lorraine. Would highly recommend this experience. This was an excellent tour, Felipe was our guide and we were so luck to have a Private Tour. He was very attentive, funny and spoke great English. The horses were so gentle. We were a party of 4 my husband myself and our two adult children. We were all experienced riders so Felipe took us to parts of the mountain that made the ride fun and challenging. Juan was also in assistance to make sure we were all ok. We had a great fantastic time, it is so peaceful and the views of Santiago were amazing. Afterward Felipe prepared a wonderful picnic lunch for us with a nice bottle of wine. I would highly recommend this tour and Felipe our guide.

I highly recommend this tour. My wife and my daughters boyfriend had never been on a horse before. The guides made sure that they got gentle horses. All the horses are well behaved and easy to ride, The views were awesome, the guides never leave you alone and are always there to help you. This is not a follow the leader on a flat circle trail. This is up and down and around trail that never gets boring. We saw eagles and a condor flying high up. We liked it so much that on our next trip we want to try one of their overnight tours. Also at the end of the day there is a delicious lunch waiting for you with good Chilean wine to wash it down. I highly recommend this tour.

On March 5, 2017, we a group of four had scheduled our sunset horseback riding tour. We had a wonderful experience during our tour. The staff was very friendly and helpful, taking time to explain things that enhanced our tour. This tour especially perfect for people who have never been on a horse. The horses were well behaved and knew the trails wells. The sites were breathtaking and we were able to see a most beautiful sunset while riding in the foothills of the Andes. Fantastic day, very relaxing and a beautiful way to see the Andes. Tour guide brilliant and we had a fantastic Chilean lunch washed down with red wine. Neither of us had any experienced horse riding but had no issues going over the mountainous terrain as the horses were very well trained and the guide kept a close eye on us and coached us well on the way up.

This was EXCELLENT. We were in a tour of two other couples--which apparently was one of the largest tours they had done for a while. We had an excellent trail ride through the hills with an incredibly knowledgeable guide Juane who spoke perfect English and was full of really interesting facts about the area. The lunch was simple and delicious, and everything was capped off with a great glass of wine. We would HIGHLY recommend this tour--probably the best part of our 12 day Chile trip. One slight word of warning, though--the description says no horseback riding experience needed, but I would argue that more experience on horses is better for this. It's a real trail ride, and the horses, and the very nice horses they use DO have personalities as opposed to some other trail rides where they just follow the lead horse at a slow walk. You will trot, and probably have quick bouts of cantering, during this ride. But, that's one of the things we really enjoyed! Excellent tour from start to finish.
