During the 1,5 hour way to Siréna and back we saw whales and dolphins. If you don't like swinging on the waves (like me) I advise you to sit on the rear of the boat and everything is ok.
In Corcovado we spent many hours and saw many animals (three types of monkey, toucans, tapirs and many birds and other small animals). The lunch after was good.
Many thanks to our guide Carlos. It was wonderfull to share his passion and knowledges.

I actually have not taken the tour yet. I scheduled for the wrong date. The tour agency was very accommodating and rescheduled for us at the last minute. So far, the customer service has been awesome.

Melvin is such a knowledgeable and skillful guide. He really made the most of our time in Corcovado and we were able to see and learn about so much flora and fauna. This day trip was also very well organized by the tour company.
Bring water shoes/sandals for the wet landing into Sirena Station and to enter Sirena Station for lunch as hiking shoes are not allowed inside the cabin area.

We also appreciate your kind words about our organization and for sharing the helpful tip about water shoes for the wet landing and the cabin area at Sirena Station—this will be very useful for future visitors.

Mel is a birdwatcher’s dream guide — an incredibly talented and keen observer who is the physical equivalent of Merlin Bird ID for the region. From hundreds of meters away Mel could audio ID and shortly thereafter spot birds in the thick of the jungle. To say we had a good experience is an understatement. You will not believe how well he can mimic dozens of species. Not to mention, he has top of the line equipment for a crystal clear view and photo of birds and other fauna. Birds aside, he has excellent knowledge of the forest and ecology of Corcovado — breaking down complex symbiotic relationships in a way that makes sense to the average person. There is legitimately no better —or kinder — person to lead you on this adventure. Worth. every. penny!
Response from Host, Jan 2026
Thank you so much for this incredible review!
On behalf of Corcovado Wild Tours, we truly appreciate you taking the time to share such thoughtful and detailed feedback. Mel will be deeply honored to read your words — they perfectly capture his passion, dedication, and remarkable talent as a guide and naturalist.
We are thrilled to know that his birding skills, knowledge of Corcovado’s ecology, and genuine kindness made your experience so memorable. Our goal is always to provide meaningful, high-quality adventures that connect our guests with the incredible wildlife and ecosystems of Corcovado, and your review confirms that we’re on the right path.
Thank you for trusting us with your adventure and for recognizing the value of the experience. We hope to welcome you back to the jungle again soon!

The boat trip to the point where the guided hike through the rainforest began took 1.5 hours on a speedboat. We saw lots of dolphins and a turtle. The captain made sure that everyone on the boat got to see the animals and the stops were long enough to take photos. To get off the boat, you need flip-flops or bathing shoes as the beach is full of stones. You could also get wet - so no long pants. After arriving and checking into the park, the guided tour begins. Sneakers or hiking boots are required here. The hike was about 8 km long. Our guide showed us lots of animals, he was equipped with very good technology to show us closeups of the animal and take photos for us with our cell phones. He conducted the tour very confidently and with extensive knowledge. We also found the excellent exchange of information between the individual guides about which animals could be seen at any given time to be great. As a result, you really get to see a lot of animals.
Response from Host, Mar 2025
Thank you so much for sharing your detailed experience with us! We’re thrilled to hear you enjoyed the boat trip and appreciated the captain’s effort to make sure everyone could see and photograph the wildlife.
It’s wonderful to know you had a great hiking experience and that our guide’s knowledge and dedication made your tour even more special. We take pride in using high-quality equipment to enhance your experience and ensure you get memorable photos.
The teamwork and communication between guides are indeed essential to offer the best wildlife sightings, and we’re glad you appreciated it. We hope to welcome you back for another amazing adventure in Corcovado! Warm wishes from all of us at Corcovado Wild Tours!

Corcovado was beautiful and a must visit place!
The scenery is spectacular and it was so exciting to see Tapir in the wild.
My guide was very knowledgeable on the different wildlife in the area, although it felt like he was disconnected from us.
At the beginning, when I asked questions and was excited about the tour he said "he couldn't focus all his attention on me as he had a whole group of people". This was quite off putting as I was so excited to be there and it felt like he'd rather be somewhere else. I wanted to ask questions and learn but it made it very uncomfortable.
I did expect to see more wildlife overall, but it is nature and every day is different. Its a beautiful place to be regardless, however I think had the guide been more engaging and enthusiastic it would have been a different experience.

Jairo was our tour guide he was AMAZING! He is very knowledgeable and has a good eye for the animals. We did not feel rushed during the tour, and were able to see several animals. We came during rainy season. However, it was very beautiful and dry during our tour. I will say the boat ride to the tour was very fast and choppy. On the way back we had an opportunity to stop, and see a family of humpback whales.

I booked the English speaking tour, but the agent put us in a Spanish speaking group. The agent insisted it’s a Spanish and English speaking tour. The fact is the guide speaks a little English with very strong accent which is difficult to understand and most of the time he spoke Spanish to other tourist's in the group. Me and my family had to waste the most of the time on listening Spanish which we totally don’t understand. There were much better groups we saw in the park. The language was not a problem because the tourists in other groups spoke the same language no matter it was English or Spanish. So no one had to waste time on listening a language they don’t understand. I think this agent put people who speaks different languages in one group to lower the cost of hiring guides. Skip it if you don’t want to waste your time on listening a language you don’t understand.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re very sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations, especially regarding the language barrier during the tour.
At Corcovado Wild Tours, we do our best to assign bilingual guides who can provide information in both English and Spanish, especially during high season when logistics can be more complex. However, we understand how frustrating it can be when communication is not as clear as it should be, and we sincerely apologize for that.
Your comments about the guide’s English level and how the group dynamic affected your experience are taken seriously. We aim to improve constantly, and your input helps us better match our guides and group compositions in the future.
Please know that it’s never our intention to mix languages just to cut costs. Our priority is to provide meaningful and enjoyable experiences for all our guests. We are already reviewing your case internally and taking steps to ensure similar situations don’t happen again.
Thank you again for your feedback, and we hope to have a chance to offer you a better experience in the future.
Warm regards,

This could not have been better! Met and exceeded every expectation. Jairo is a master of the jungle. He can hear, identify, and repeat countless bird calls - making it easier to spot birds. He knows the sounds and signs of all of the jungle animals and positioned countless times to see the floral and fauna of the region. If we visit Corcovado again, we will seek out Jairo specifically.

Very nice national park, but the maximum number of visitors per day was increased. This makes it extremely congested, especially at the entrance, and you have to share the animal observations partly with 2 to 3 other groups in parallel.
What unfortunately made us very dissatisfied is the fact that the experience with "small groups / max. 6 people" is advertised and our group ended up consisting of 9 people!

Hello, thank you very much for your feedback.
We would like to clarify an important point regarding the difference between booking through our website and booking through the Viator platform, as these are two different products with different conditions.
In your case, your reservation was made through Viator at a time when the price was $145 per person and group sizes were larger. Recently, we have updated this product to offer smaller groups (maximum 6 participants), which is why the current price on Viator is $190 per person. This recent change is what may have caused some confusion.
At the time of your booking, the conditions corresponded to the previous version of the tour, where group sizes could be larger. Therefore, being part of a group of 8–9 participants was consistent with the product you purchased.
We understand how this may seem confusing when comparing it with the current listing, but the small group format (maximum 6 people) is part of a newer update with a different price structure.
Regarding the number of visitors at Corcovado, especially at Sirena Station, this is not something we can control. The national park is very large, and other stations such as La Leona are much quieter to visit. However, around 95% of visitors prefer to go to Sirena, which is why it tends to be busier. For those who prefer a less crowded experience, we also offer tours to La Leona.
Thank you again for your comment. We are always working to improve, and we truly appreciate the opportunity to clarify this situation.
