Dress code: For visits to the Royal Palace, S-21, and the Killing Fields, guests must cover shoulders and knees (no sleeveless tops, short skirts, or shorts). Weather: Some days can be very hot. We recommend sunscreen, a hat, and/or an umbrella for sun protection. Drop-off: You will be returned to your hotel at the end of the tour unless alternative arrangements are made in advance. Our guide Rhee was very nice and thorough however the King's Palace and Silver Palace were skipped as it was closed on New Year's Day. They notified us towards the end of the tour and said they would do the museum instead. I would have preferred they let us know before the tour and then I would have changed the tour to a different date as I really wanted to do those places with a tour guide. I didn't want to do the museum but really was left with no choice. They weren't transparent, it felt deceitful and for this reason I would avoid this tour company.

Regarding the Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda, we would like to clarify that the Royal Palace was completely closed to all travelers, without any prior public announcement from the authorities or any early notification. As a result, all travelers visiting Phnom Penh on that day were unable to visit the Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda, not only guests on our tour.
Because the closure was confirmed only on the day of the tour, the itinerary had to be changed at that time. As soon as our guide received confirmation that the Royal Palace was closed, she immediately informed you and explained the situation. She then offered alternative options, including replacing the visit with the National Museum or providing a cash refund for the Royal Palace entrance fees. You kindly chose to continue the tour with the National Museum instead.
We fully understand that the Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda are major highlights of Phnom Penh, and we sincerely regret the disappointment caused by this sudden and uncontrollable change. The plan was adjusted only due to circumstances beyond our control, and no attractions were intentionally skipped. The National Museum was provided as a replacement so the tour could still be completed as booked.
Transparency and guest satisfaction are very important to us, and we are truly sorry that this unexpected situation made you feel otherwise. Your feedback is valuable and helps us improve how we communicate last-minute changes caused by unforeseen closures in the future.

Fabulous tour of the city and the killing fields. Our guide was brilliant and the car very cool . There was always a cold drink when we got in. The royal palace is stunning and not to be missed. The whole day was perfect

The knowledge of Jenny our guide was amazing. She brought to life the history of the Cambodian royalty and on the other spectrum the horrific story of S21 and the Killing Fields.

We enjoyed our tour of Phnom Penh very much. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the history of Cambodia and was always eager to answer our questions. The driver and van were very nice as well. The visit to the Killing fields and S-21 went longer than expected and our guide arrived later than the original time, so we were unable to visit some of the other sites that were listed for this tour when I booked. We did see The Royal Palace but only drive by Wat Phnom snd never went to the Russian Market. I was disappointed by this but wonder if maybe trying to see so much in one day isn’t a good idea. I’d recommend doing two half day tours to avoid what happened to us.

Lay was our guide and he was very professional and clear.
He gave us a much better understanding of Cambodia, the Red Khmer period and the long period of difficult times.
He could also give us insight in the aftermath of Pol Pot and the prosecution’s going on. The Cambodian monarchy also needs some explanations due to the political system. These questions gave us a better view of where the country stands today. Killing fields - we suppose you can do them on your own as there are good billboards to explain, but when you have a professional guide as Lay on your side it all comes live and so did prison 21, puh...

We hebben een onvergetelijke en indrukwekkende dag gehad. We starten bij het Royal Palace van de koning. Binnen de muren van het paleis bevinden zich meerdere schitterende gebouwen. Daarna door naar de naastgelegen zilveren pagoda. De vloer bestaat volledig uit zilveren tegels.
Vervolgens werd het serieuzer. We hebben de Tuol Sleng genocide museum (S-21) bezocht. In deze voormalige school zijn tijdens het Pol Pot regime bijna 20.000 Cambodjanen gevangen, gemarteld en vermoord. In het museum wordt alles laten zien en geïllustreerd met honderden foto’s. Hierna verder gegaan naar één van de ruim 300 zogenaamde ‘killing fields’, waarin de Rode Kmer van Pol Pot naar schatting meer dan 1,5 miljoen mensen een massagraf heeft gegeven. Te idioot voor woorden. Dit waren wat ons betreft de 2 highlights van de dag.
In de middag hebben we nog een pagoda en de plaatselijke markt bezocht.
De tour was perfect, mede door de verhalen van onze gids Sam. Hij heeft ons zoveel belangrijke en interessante informatie gegeven. Met de name de verhalen over wat hij als kind van zes heeft meegemaakt tijdens het regime van Pol Pot, hebben veel indruk achtergelaten. Bedankt Sam en we bevelen je van harte aan bij volgende bezoekers van Phnom Penh.
