Lovely chill day, you can make the walk after the cathedral as easy or difficult as you need.
The guide was very knowledgeable

If you have time in Barcelona, go! It was about a 1/2 day trip. So worth it. The monastery was amazing. If you can see the boys choir do that as well. It was really something. Highly recommend.

This is great for first timers. I thought the guide Marc, did a great job. It was nice to have transportation.

Montserrat is a must see. The Basilica is impressive, beautiful, holy and much more! The views from the monastery are stunning. Really worth the time. Our guide Francisco was top notch, giving us historical perspectives that can only come from a lot of reading and memorization. One of the best guides I have had the pleasure of meeting! Try to attend mass if possible, it’s very reverent, holy, moving and much more.

Great guide, beautiful area to visit, I highly recommend. We went with as a family, the bus was air conditioned and comfortable.

The trip to Montserrat was great. Siobhan was an excellent tour guide! She shared so much interesting information about Montserrat, the Basilica, the Pope’s visit and Barcelona. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Well if you want a transportation and the entrance to the basilica then you can use this company the tour guide Francesco talked during the trip but as we having others tours we basically were left on our own on the basilica and the entire time I really enjoyed the place. Not the service not to mention that he spoke a very bad English with a very hard Italian accent and Spanish with a mix of Italian I believe the guy tried to do his job this is nothing against him but it was no good at all I don’t recommend this tour company

As you would expect, there were a lot of people there. There are restaurants, gift, shops, and a small open air market with cheese, honey, and other things. I came on a tour bus from Barcelona. Our tour guide, Francisco, was very versed in the history surrounding Monserrat. Listen carefully for your meeting spots, because I couldn’t find anyone when I came out of the cathedral.
The Basilica is very grand. I went to see the boys choir sing, and one of the benefits of that was that the lights for the choir made the gilded frames around the art in the chancel and apse glisten. However, the music performance is very short. From start to finish it was 14 minutes, and part of that was speaking.
Since I could see it from the nave, I did not go up to see the Black Madonna. There was a continual line of people crossing in front of her above the apse which was interesting to watch.
Because walking is difficult for me and it was sunny and hot, I took the Saint Joan funicular up (buy your tickets at the station) and looked at the view, but I did not take any of the hikes. The rock formations were indeed incredible.I waited in order to be in the front car for the trip down. It was worth it.
This was my first Viator tour, and I feel like it was worth the expense. It helped that Francisco was personable and friendly.

They left us, no way to contact them. They didn’t contact us back either. This is not fair, we came all the way from mexico

Marc was excellent at adding historical context. Trip was organized, on time and bus was quite comfortable.
Kalynda_S, Jun 2026
The monastery is beautiful, and I love that you get some history, but can mostly do your own thing. Wonderful!
David_G, Jun 2026
Great tour, lots of time to explore on your own! The ride was not too long to get there, easy to find where to be picked up.
Maibel_D, Jun 2026
Great guide and trip, but if you get motion sickness, sit in the front of the bus and be warned. It’s a very windy road up the mountain.
Romayne_K, Jun 2026
Bus to Monserrat was very comfortable! Our guide Francesco was terrific and kept us well informed. There was enough free time to explore the area after the basilica tour. We enjoyed taking the funicular to the top of the mountain and hiking back down! So many different options of activities for different levels of interest!

Monserrat is a lesser known gem for Barcelona visitors. The power lies less in the basilica as is the case with Sagrada Família but more in the jagged and serrated mountains, hiking trails, spectacular views, nature and cooler weather.

The tour started on time. The bus was comfortable and the guide gave both Spanish and English information. He was helpful and and then gave us plenty of free time to enjoy our day.
Billy_C, Jun 2026
Marc was fantastic. We had a wonderful time and really appreciated how thorough Marc was with explaining the layout of the area. We had plenty of free time which we loved.
Kelly_L, Jun 2026

Seamless travel, sufficient time for most everything, very informative, great vistas, small manageable group.

Anthony was really good. Always explaining and making sure that we understand and he went about and beyond when they didn’t let as go into the cathedral. He make sure we went inside the cathedral before we left.

A great way to head out of Barcelona and enter the nature of mountains, and lots of history big chapels and buildings surround, tour guide gave us a tour and given us advice of hikes and exploring. Free time was perfect to do ur own things then meet back to continue the tour highly recommend this tour

Lovely way to escape Barcelona for an afternoon. Beautiful landscape and the guide (Marc) was very informative.
ruby_r, May 2026
Great tour, well worth doing. Francisco was an excellent guide. Very knowledgeable and happy to answer all questions. Very personable.
Shane_S, May 2026
Very informative guide, buses were clean and prompt. Very nice to have 2+ hours of free time so it's not all guided. I was just left wishing for a little more for my money; perhaps a little more time to explore and/or maybe organize with a local vendor on site for a little tasting of the local cheese or liqueur that are unique to the area. Something simple an inexpensive but keeps me from having to chase it down on my own time.
The views from the top are worth it, highly recommend taking the funicular to the top once you're on site (not included).
Celdie_S, May 2026
Marc our tour guide was great. Very informative and friendly. The comfortable coach bus and having Marc as our guide was well worth the cost of the tour.
Dwight_H, May 2026
What an excellent visit to Monserrat. The bus was so comfortable and our guide, Marc was very knowledgeable and friendly. Definitely recommend this tour. A great way to spend the day and enjoy some history and scenery. Thank you!
Andrea_H, May 2026
You learn a bit of important Catalan history and many cultural facts. I appreciated that the tour left free time to explore on our own. Everything was well explained.
This was my 4th time to take the tour and Marc was the BEST tour guide I’ve had for any tour in Spain. He not only answered all questions, but he was very patient with the English speaking audience. Give that guy a raise!
