I cannot recommend this tour more highly! It was the best thing I did in Leon. Oscar is so knowledgeable and so enthusiastic as a guide. He's all about creating an experience. Everything we tasted was incredible. If you're in Leon, book this tour.

I usually don't bother to write reviews (I know I should lol) but the local food tour in Leon was phenomenal! Oscar made the tour exceptional! His knowledge of Leon and all of Nicaragua looked at through the lens of food was wonderful. It was focused on traditional food from not only the current population but also expanded to the indigenous cuisine. Wonderful! Thank you Oscar for a great tour. If you are thinking of taking this tour I would recommend asking for Oscar.

Oscar was great!!! He was on time and available by WhatsApp. Then he gave us a great tour that included some history and the chance to try many local foods in the market nearby. He was very informative, spoke great English, and was always checking in to see if we had any questions or needed anything.

We had a brilliant time with Oscar, a fantastic local guide that spoke brilliant English. Oscar WA sable to guide us through typical Nicuagaran food that started with fruit and wound it's way through sour, mains, drinks and candy. He was able to give us a detailed background of ingredients and ways that the foods were used, where to find them and what typical local prices would be to help us navigate the rest of our trip. All whilst pointing out the history of the city and cultural practices. We couldn't be happier with our experience!

Oscar, the guide was awesome. He was knowledgeable and passionate about his people's food. Oscar explained details about the food and the significance of them to the Nicaraguan people. He even took us on a side quest to purchase coffee. I would recommend this to anyone visiting Leon.

Very good morning tour that goes by quick. Oscar was very informative with the different foods available in the market. Most of the fruit samples tasted great, but that is personal preference.

A very lovely tour! Booked totally last minute and despite being the only one touring, I was given a thrill of a time and met with dedication to the gastronomy of Leon. We booked the night tour for the food tour. While the market was closed by the time we arrived in Leon, the tour was great. We received different fruits from the city and we were able to go try drinks and local tacos. I had never tried the drinks or food before and they were great. I enjoyed it. Thank you.

We really enjoyed this tour and learning about the local foods and dishes. Food was delicious and the guide was knowledgeable. However, we would have loved to have ventured outside of the central market a bit as well as trying some of the local sweets and desserts.

We wish we did the tour at the beginning of our nica trip! Learned a lot about local fruits and drinks. Memo (sorry if I spell it wrong) was an amazing guide, it is as like walking around with a good friend who explained everything to you. We did the tour in the evening, so memo bought a lot of fruits (Nicaragua has so much more to offer than piña and watermelon) and we ate them in front of the cathedral because the markets were already closed. After that we walked to some other places and ended at a dinner place. If you do the day tour you will walk through the local market. Highly recommend the tour if you are in León, do it at the beginning of your trip if possible so you can enjoy the food you learn about on the rest of your trip.

The tour started very nicely with the tour guide picking us up from the hotel. Unfortunately, that was a highlight of the tour. The usual (local) guide was not available and the tour was led by her husband who was originally from a different (European) country. This in itself would not be a problem if he were to share interesting stories and facts about the place. We scheduled the tour for Dec 24 and it turned out, during the tour, most of the intended places were closed for the holidays. We ended up walking back and worth with little results. The food that we ended up trying was ok. The tour guide brought some fruits and they were tasty. We ended up leaving earlier as we were tired of what appeared to us as aimless walking from one unavailable place to another. The tour organizers should have either been prepared to do the tour or cancel the reservation.

It's the first time someone blames me for where I am from... everybody knows in Nicaragua things never go exactly as planned but I tried my best to cheer you up and I offer solutions. please don't blame me if you are picky, close minded and keep a funeral face during your holiday.
