Good port to visit but tour missed the mark.

Jane_T, Jul 2025
We loved the Witches Hill and were able to see Nada and look across beaches towards the Russian border. We did not get to visit Klaipeda in this tour. Our guide was very pleasant and did her best to give us information on all the sites. She loves her town and country and was very knowledgeable. However overall the tour missed on several points. 1) She was difficult to understand. I had heard this was a possibility at this port so it did not surprise me. 2) she went into so much detail that the group got bored and fell apart. Some went ahead of the group 3) there didn’t seem to be a firm itinerary and time frame that was communicated to the group. Some people were frustrated that they didn’t get to see much of Klaipeda. In the future I would recommend the guide give the group some high level info on what to expect and what time to meet back with group. Stick to the itinerary in the tour description

It was a great tour and our guide (I forgot her name…) was great! She was very knowledgeable and very passionate about Lithuania. We had some people in the group who were very rude to her about things that were their own fault but they blamed her. She handled it very well. I learned a lot about Lithuania. She was also very fun to talk with about her own life and experiences in places like Lithuania and the US. It was also very cool to see Russia since I don’t know if we will be able to visit it safely anytime soon. This tour doesn’t do old-town Klaipeda only the Curonian Spit but I loved being out it nature all day.

Beautiful and interesting to see the dunes and tour the villages and hill of witches unfortunately we ran out of time and were unable to see Klapeida old town. Our guide was very informative.

Wonderful Christina

Incredible journey outside of Klaipeda to experience nature and environs

This was a great trip and a really knowledgeable, gracious and friendly guide (Peter ?). It is about an hour drive each way to/from Curonian spit. but you get a good sense of the communities, beaches and the Hill of Witches. Peter relayed very good info on the folk lore of the 'witch' statues and was a great walk through magical woods. Interesting to stand and overlook the Russian border (Kaliningrad) which is something most Westerners will never get to see. Very interesting discussions on the way of life in the area, the history and the culture. Would have been nice to include at least a quick tour of old town Klaipeda. however we ran out of time to get back to our cruise ship so opted out of that. The entire van was from our cruise line (6 passengers). And with the annual Sea Festival that day would have been difficult to drive into the old town anyway.

Curonian Spit

Very interesting to see the Curonian Spit and the small towns along the way. Hiking through the woodland to see the carved images of cultural fairy tales added to the enjoyment. Kristina, our guide, was knowledgeable and accommodating. Would recommend tour to other m.

The Split

Adrienne_V, Jun 2023
We thought the dunes were lovely but we expected to see the beach that the spit is so famous for. We also thought the folk tales would be a very small part of the tour, and we did a hike in the woods for at least 45 minutes (maybe an hour) and it was story after story of the folklore. I personally had zero interest in this and had I know it would have taken early 1/3 of the actual time we spent on the Spit, I would not have booked this excursion. It also seems to be quite expensive for what we got (transportation including the ferry over and back, the hike with folklore, a brief 10 minute dune visit at an overlook, then an hour of free time in Nida to walk around- it was a cute town).

Curonian Spit - a Facsinating Story (Klaipeda)

Judi, Jul 2022
We all loved this tour. It was a bit of a drive to the spit. I learned that "spit" is a geological term. The history ofhow the people took back the spit was so amazing. It was interesting to see the evidence of how the people reclaimed the dunes and the work that was involved to accomplish that. We had a wonderful walk in the woods and were able to see all of the carved statues of folklore demons and witches that were the result of a competition that was held on the spit. Our guide was so proud of her country and city-it was wonderful listen to her stories of history and folklore. The seaside walk and lunch made this a perfect day. Thank you for this tour!

Best part of Klaipeda

Cruiser07663392649, Sep 2019
The sites were good such as the witches tour, Thomas Mann museum and sand dunes near Niva. The other sand dune and Amber museum could have been skipped. The tour guide tended to ramble to fill time while we were driving and would have been better with shorter more clear summaries. The advertised tour was 6 hours and included a tour around Klaipeda, however, the guide was prepared for 8 hours. We had it cut back so didn't see the city. We were told by our fellow passengers that we didn't miss much in the city.
