A fantastic day trip!

Wow what a day! This is something you must book if you are staying in Ipoh. We had the most incredible day at the tea plants, orchid centre and looking at the water fall. We also enjoyed a tasty lunch of our choice. Our guide Mike really made the trip so special his knowledge was amazing and he told us a lot of information without overloading us. He was warm, friendly and kind. Mike did everything to ensure we had a special day and he was part of making it so special

Amazing! The tour itself was incredible bursting with views, experiences & great photo opportunities. Jai however was the icing on the cake. We cannot rate him highly enough. His knowledge of the area was astounding, providing a running commentary on flora, fauna, history, architecture, politics ….. basically anything that interested you. He made a great trip, simply the best. He seemed to know everyone along the way & involved us in the chat / banter with stall holders, restauranters, cashiers, drivers etc etc. Seriously, if you’re reviewing options for the Cameron highlands I thoroughly recommend you look no further & you’ll have an amazing day.

The experience was average overall. Pickup was on time and the tour was well organized. The driver was friendly, informative, and professional, and I liked that it was a private, relaxed tour. The tea plantation, waterfall, market, and views were beautiful, but the flower farm was disappointing and below expectations. The car was not comfortable for a full-day trip, and the included lunch only offered local food — if you want other options, you have to pay extra. Overall, it didn’t fully meet expectations, so I wouldn’t strongly recommend it.

First of all, thanks for your 'smart' and 'cool' review. The review itself reflects how smart you are. It is clear that you didn't book the tour yourself; this is evident from what you have written, and I was the guide (Jai) for you on that day. I realize you booked the tour via an agent from your country, and I noticed you didn't even bother to understand the itinerary or the program for the day. It is clearly written in the itinerary that we visit two different tea plantations and other attractions along the route for a better experience. The main highlight of the Cameron Highlands is the tea plantations, where people from all over the world come to experience the scenery and learn about the tea-making process. However, it seems you had no interest in this and were only interested in the waterfall, which is supposed to be the last stop in our itinerary. Furthermore, the entire tour turned sour because you booked an English-speaking tour, yet you couldn't speak a word of English. We had to rely entirely on Google Translate, which was exhausting and led to miscommunications that hampered the whole tour. I am a licensed tour guide who has been operating in the Cameron Highlands for more than 8 years, and I am the owner of this company, which I started from scratch. I have invested years and countless hours creating an itinerary that suits our customers, as is evident from our past reviews. It is easy to just throw words around, but please be more reasonable when you write a review.

Jai was excellent, he’s extremely knowledgeable and made the whole experience very involved including tasting different foods and explaining things like what was being sold along the roads, the history of the places we went to and of The people. He made sure we got plenty of photos taken for us as well. Highly recommend this tour

Everything is Included in this wonderful daytrip to the Cameron Highlands

We had a great time with Rajan. He contacted us the day before to let us know what to expect. He was on time, informative and could not do enough for you. He had no problems taking pictures of us or allowing me to take pictures of something. He provided us with water which we appreciated as it was a hot day. We stop at many sites where he purchased us fruits, ice cream and other things for us to try when we returned to our hotel. We went to Boh tea first and we were ahead of the crowds. They allowed us to sample which made us willing to buy as we knew what to expect. He took us to Cameron Tea but we elected to look around instead of walking the path in the afternoon heat, which he was fine. We had a delicious lunch at Yash Banana Leaf where we had wonderful Indian food which was very filling. We did make some other stops along the way but they were informative stops no pressure to buy just to learn about the culture which we appreciated. You will not be disappointed with this tour as everything is included and you will enjoy your day and have a good understanding Malaysia culture and make a new friend.

A glorified taxi service

Unsure if I just had a bad guide, but this was not worth it. It felt like a glorified taxi service. I booked this tour based on the review and feel extremely disappointed and short changed. It's unclear what the expectation is from your so called 'guide' but mine basically didn't get out the car throughout the whole day, told me very little about the region and spent a significant amount of time taking calls from other people. I was therefore just left to wander places by myself so I'd have learned more about the Cameron Highlands by reading the Wikipedia page. Even for the Market, my 'guide' by passed the big market, taking me to a few stalls in a place near it which only a handful of stalls open and almost none offering the fresh fruits and vegetables promised. While I was able to see an additional strawberry farm and a honey farm, I think this was because my 'guide' knew that we wouldn't be able to fill the 10-12 hours for the tour duration otherwise. I was tempted to just ask him to take me home after the first stop, so I didn't waste the whole day. As a solo traveller, I was charged the price of two people (over 950 Ringitt). Yet, from what I can understand most of the entry to these places are free with only two places requiring a ticket which costs between 10-20 Ringitt. I know that lunch is included and costs for fuel and a wage are too but to be charged 900 Ringitt for this doesn't make sense, especially for what you get. I usually don't book trips through Viator, I prefer Airbnb Experiences, but after this trip I don't think I will ever use Viator again in the future.

Easily the highlight of my trip!! Jaie and his team are absolutely incredible; so friendly, caring and Knowledgeable throughout the day. You never feel rushed at any of the locations and get a full in depth explanation of/about every destination, which is fantastic. Jaie’s knowledge and passion is amazing! I have come away from today with an abundance of new fascinating facts and experiences. I got to experience and gain an understanding of so much more than I was expecting or could have asked for. Jaie really went above and beyond with every aspect of day and it was very much worth paying a little extra. I cannot say enough nice things about my day aswell as Jaie and his team, truly it was incredible and far exceeded my expectations. This is definitely the tour to take to the Cameron Highlands! Jai was an amazing tour guide, I learned so much about the history of the area, plants, Indigenous people and all about tea plantations and tea production. Jai was an expert at finding authentic Malaysian food, catering to dietary requirements and we talked the entire day! He's also a great photographer, perfect for solo travellers. I felt really safe and comfortable the entire day. There's heaps more included in this tour than what is on the itinerary.

Very interesting stories, and lots of delicious treats throughout the day like the corn and fruit from the markets were lovely touches which made the day feel really special. We had a great tour of the Cameron Highlands with Mik today. Mik picked us up in his comfortable air conditioned car and took us first to the Boh tea plantation which was interesting and beautiful. Then we went around a 50 year old rose garden which has a lovely mini zoo. We then went to another tea plantation and had a fabulous banana leaf lunch. Mik was very friendly and knowledgeable. His tour was conducted at a very nice pace and he explained lots of interesting things about the local area to us. He introduced us to some lovely ladies at a local fruit market who were very welcoming and treated us to some wonderful local produce. We would highly recommend this tour. Thank you, Mik.

Fantastic tour, well worth time and money

A very worthwhile experience, despite some reviews claiming that it is too long or boring. Yes, it is a full day in and out of the car, but at least in our case the time flew by, we gained wonderful memories and collected hundreds of pictures. We owe it to our guide Jai, who not only showed a steady driving hand negotiating narrow switchback roads in the mountains, but also made sure that every stop had a purpose, an interesting story and a good laugh behind it. Tea plantations (we stopped at three) are all very scenic and Instagram-worthy. You learn about the process of tea harvesting and production, have an opportunity to sample and buy many local brands. In short, it is not repetitive or tiring. Yes, in some places you are surrounded by many other tourists, but Jay knew how to beat the traffic by taking the correct roads at just the right time on a busy weekend. Besides visiting tea plantations, we had an opportunity to meet indigenous people and learn about medicinal value of plants they collect. We spent some time in a small but interesting botanical garden, stopped at several roadside markets and had a tasty lunch at a local restaurant (included). Throughout the trip there was plenty of free-flowing conversations about local customs, economy and various cultural issues. Jai went above and beyond what would be expected from a typical private tour guide. Not to ignore the fact that he spoke excellent, easy-to-understand English, a big plus in often noisy traffic situations. I would not hesitate to recommend this trip with this specific guide to anyone interested in Cameron Highlands.

Fantastic tour provided by our driver Wassu and his boss Jai. Jai had another customer that day so my group and his drove separately but met up at every stop on the itinerary. Jai provided incredible insight into the Cameron Highlands, the tea culture and other interesting stories here and there. Jai and Wassu made sure all our needs were met (eg getting back to Ipoh station for a train). Couldn’t recommend this tour more! Thankyou Jai and Wassu for the incredible day!

A truly spectacular private tpur

A truly fantastic private tour exploring the nature of the Cameron Highlands. Jai is an amazing guide, his warmth and knowledge really makes the tour special. As a solo traveller was able to have a uniquely tailored tour and got to learn so much about the rich history of the area. The tour was flexible and was able to explore the tea plantations without feeling rushed. The orchid and rose garden was a true hidden gem!

The trip is worth the car journey

An excellent trip to the Cameron Highlands made special by our wonderful driver and guide Tom. The early start was made worth it with an authentic Malay breakfast before we started to drive to the Highlands. The car journey can take up to 3 hours to reach the tea plantation - but this was linked to the closure of the more direct route due to a landslide. The journey passed quickly with Tom keeping us informed with lots of local knowledge. First stop was Boh tea with time to explore the factory (only takes 15-20 min), visit the shop, and importantly try the tea and cakes. A walk through the tea plantation and then back to the car to visit the Rose & Orchid gardens and sample the local produce - you must try the corn and the passion fruit ! Back in the car to visit one of the local fruit and vegetable markets, and sample more local produce. Tom worked with us to tailor the tour to what we wanted to see so we adjusted the schedule to skip lunch and head straight for the waterfall and then back towards Ipoh to see the Perak Cave Temple - a great experience and so good to be able to fit this into our day trip. Once back in Ipoh Tom used his local knowledge once more to take us to sample more local cuisine. We had a great day from start to finish, with the long car journey punctuated by some interesting stops and good chat on the way.
