Great short round trip. Plenty of time to spend at each location and still do it in one day. Great service by the driver and guide.
It was a rainy day in Galway but our bus was clean & our driver & narrator were great keeping everyone I high spirits
If you're looking for an easy, straight-to-the-point way to see Galway without walking your legs off, this is it.Booking it was completely painless—took two minutes on the phone, no jumping through hoops. Once you're out on the street, the stops are dead easy to spot. You don't have to guess where the bus is pulling up, and hopping on and off at different spots throughout the day was totally seamless. We got lucky and caught it on a day when the weather was absolutely cracking, so sitting up top on the open-air deck was brilliant. It gives you a great vantage point and is just a solid way to clear the head while taking in the sights. For the price, it’s excellent value. It gives you a perfect overview of the entire city layout right at the start of your trip, making it easy to figure out exactly which spots and pubs you want to wander back to later for a closer look. No fluff, it just works. Highly recommended.
Our tour guide Sam was great, colloquial and informative. The route was easy to follow and we felt like we got a good introduction to the city.
Jason was our live guide. He was fun and jovial and we learned A LOT about hurling (Gallway v Limerick was that afternoon). Jason also LOVEs Mayo football. He talked all about the upcoming match and “curse”. We didn’t learn much about the local sights but Jason was fun. Wish he talked more about the sights tho therefore, only 4 stars. Stick to ‘teaching’ J.
Not worth the cost of the ticket. You would be better off with a walking tour. Galway City too small to justify a hop on hop off tour.
We went in July and there was only one bus running- which was a surprise to us. Yes, it’s a hop on/hop off tour, but the bus doesn’t comeback for 1.5 hrs so it’s hard to do more than one hop off. That’s the three stars. This tour should just be a tour, the hop on/hop off is a bit misleading.
The guide, however, was five stars. He sang, gave us great history, and kept us engaged. We took one of his suggestions and went back to O’Connor’s bar that night. It did not disappoint. Fantastic!
Our Tour Guide, Seane, was amazing and very knowledgeable. Would highly recommend a tour with him! He had a great way of bringing strangers together!
Hop on hop off with a live tour guide providing information and narrating. The driver was surgical with the handling of that bus through congested streets of Galway. The guide was entertaining and interactive with the passengers. Enjoyable tour.
Great short tour full of fun facts about Galway. A great way to get an overall view of the city. Sean our guide was knowledgeable and entertaining.
Seaan is an exceptional tour guide. He gave an informative live account of Galway. Not surprising as he has a major in drama from the University of Galway. Recently, I have done the hop on hop off bus tours in London, Prague and Dublin. This one was superb because it had a real tour guide. Great opportunity for a photo shoot at Salthill beach. To me, the highlight was the enjoyment of listening to Seaan (full of local knowledge and humour). Seaan is a natural ambassador for Galway. Very well done.
Sean, our guide did a fabulous job at helping us interpret the city of Galway. Wonderful views and stories to keep us entertained on our trip.
Bus was a great way to get around key parts of Galway when you don’t have much time during your visit. However, it doesn’t operate into the late afternoon and evening times so plan accordingly.
Worked well for us to get around the city. We traveled first loop and then selected stops of interest on next. The bus loop time is limited so you have to plan accordingly. The tour narration is automated but we'll done. Was super fun to ride in front up top on a beautiful sunny day.
Great way to get to know the city, but I don’t think there are a lot of buses in fall so don’t expect hop on hop off without a wait
We had a great time touring Galway, Ireland. The commentary was funny and informative. Highly recommend.
I feel like I wasted my money. The bus went so fast passed places we all wanted to see it was impossible to enjoy the tour. I would not recommend this outing to anyone.
Great way to plan a day in Galway. We rode the Hop On Hop Off bus for the entire route first, planning our next stops from there. Only negative: We started our tour at 12:30 the first day, but despite being advertised as 24-hour passes, our tickets had disappeared by the next morning. Very disappointing, as we had hoped to visit the Aquarium that next morning (since our Connemara Tour had been cancelled due t9 damage from Storm Amy).
We enjoyed the tour around the city while hearing about the things we were seeing! It was very nice to just sit and relax while seeing the city.
The bus runs on a 90 minute schedule, so if you get off at a stop on the route you will wait a long time to continue the tour. That would be nice to know when booking on line.
Wonderful and interesting tour of Connemara. Michael, our driver, was friendly and informative and made the tour thoroughly enjoyable. …absolutely loved the sheepdog demonstration.
We booked the tour but were given little information - we were told you could pick up the top anyway but when we tried to join the tour at Stop 3 we were told it wasn't the right bus company. We had planned to join the tour there because we could park close by and visit some attractions on the way back. There is 90 minute wait before the bus returns to a particular stop. There was no explanation that the Start Point was a a park. There are NO indications that a particular stop is a hop on stop. I contacted Viator who were most helpful in trying to identify the stop where we should be (turns out that was the stop where we were told 'wrong bus company) we went to the stop and the same driver let us on. However, this time, there was a young man from the operator who checked our tickets and assured us we were getting on the 'right' bus - the driver giving us 'the look' as we grabbed our seats.
The trip took in 8 stops ov varying interest. The narrative was interesting, but given the scheduling (every 45 minutes so IF you get off you have to wait 90 minutes to get back on and IF you want to get back to wherever you got on (assuming it wasn't Stop 1, which nobody where it was), You would have to cool your heels for 90 minutes at Stop 1! Also, the service closes down relatively early, so if you end up being in the wrong place at the wrong time, you'll either need to taxi it or walk!)
Do NOT recommend this tour operator and strongly suggested to the person @ Viator who was immensely helpful that Viator should drop this operator!
So great to hear all about Galway. The driver had impressive skills to navigate the traffic and small spaces. The ride gave us the overview we wanted to figure out where to go next.
We love to do a hop on hop off bus tour whenever coming to a new major city, and City Sightseeing Tours is one of our mainstays for this. The relatively short 1-hour tour of Galway yields an impressive and concise exposure to Ireland’s culture capital. Excellent way to get to know the Latin Quarter, Prom, Eyre Square, and much more!
Enjoyable bus tour around Galway. Stopped at the key sights. Easy 1 loop bus tour so very simple and easy to use
It was an unusually busy day with a ship docked and annual Horse Racing Festival on, so I understand it was much busier than an ordinary day. Even so, the long wait for buses (30-50mins past the scheduled time) was frustrating. After doing Hop on/off buses in several countries, this was my least favourite. Our saving grace was the shortish loop time so we could get off again at Eyre Square. No stops of real interest to us here.
Booked a 24 hour bus ride at 3:00 pm. Once the tickets came through, realized the bus only runs 9:30am -3:30pm. Planned on riding the afternoon/evening. Anyway, never got to ride the bus and returns are only offered 24 hours in advance.
Not worth the money. They play a recording, so there is no live interaction with a tour guide. A complete waste of money.
Great way to get an introduction to Galway and the sites you may want to go back to visit or simply get off and visit then. Convent hop on and hop off spots. Narration of what we were passing was great and informative.
The bus was nice and comfortable, explained a lot of history. The driver ran the bus on time and was reliable. We would recommend!
