What wasn't memorable about this day?!? First, our tour guide Abdul was incredible - from start to finish. He was attentive to the five of us, was kind enough to warn us against pushy vendors, and was an outstanding dune basher and first-rate photographer! He ensured we got all the best shots with each other and the sun. Our first stop was riding the quad bikes, which was a blast. But the day's highlight was driving over and through the desert dunes with Abdul at the wheel. We literally laughed and screamed our heads off for almost a straight hour. Then, just when we thought it couldn't get any better, we stopped for sandboarding, which was crazy fun. But then, and yes, I am reiterating this: Abdul started taking pictures of us and for us that we will treasure for years to come. He almost slid off a dune cliff at one point just to get a perfect shot. The only low point of the day was the dinner & live show portion, as our excursion fell on a religious holiday, and while we were fed, the show could not go on.
When I return to Dubai, I will run--not walk--to do this excursion again, as long as we are guaranteed to have Abdul as our guide.
