The castle was awesome to visit. From the tower and posing on the throne, to the tunnels below, it was an amazing place. Purchasing our tickets in advance saved us waiting in a long line. The hop on bus from the port made the visit easy. Highly recommend!

Amazing to see something almost a thousand years old. The English Heritage staff was amazing. The views from the top of the castle were unbelievable.

Even a violent political protest will not provide Viator with sufficient reason to cancel

    David_W, Sep 2026
We sailed into Dover the morning of our tour only to immediately sail away due to a violent anti-immigration protest developing at the Port. We understand from our cruise ship Captain that the local police did not want us disembarking that morning for safety reasons as the protest was becoming violent. Disruption occurred throughout the town. We requested a refund only to be denied because we didn’t provide 24 hours. Quite odd request as the protest was unannounced and prevented us from leaving the ship and enjoying the tour. Very disappointed in Viator’s decision to deny our refund holding true to their 24 hour cancellation policy which was impossible to comply with. We will look to other providers for all future tour needs.

    Absolutely worth the visit

    Beautiful Dover castle

Lots of hills to climb. But worth every step. The lady where you show your tickets to to enter was giving us a hard time saying I needed to buy my tickets through their heritage site. Not true at all.

Staff members refusing to accept tickets

The castle itself is beautiful but the front entrance staff are extremely rude. They don’t like that you bought the tickets from Viator and attempt to tell you that they are not valid for entry. After some arguing they demanded to see the reference number for the booking and wrote that down before giving us our entry wristbands. All 3 women working were super unprofessional and made a huge ordeal about the tickets being fake and that we should have bought them directly through English Heritage. I purchase tickets on Viator while traveling very frequently and have NEVER had this issue in any country before.

Entrance tickets only. Excellent castle to tour. Love Viator. Plan on about 4 hours to see everything.

    Dover Castle well worth seeing!

There are many things to do and see on this 80 + acres. Best if you can spend at least 2-3 hours so you don't miss out on the fantastic history of this beautiful castle.

    Blarney Castle Ride and Entry

    Susan M, Oct 2019
This was an OK deal even though there is no tour. The ticket gives you a bus ride to the Castle and admission fee. It's a few euros more than the public bus, but you get a nice ride. If you are not timebound, the public bus may be a better option.

    Failed tour. Unable to cancel.

I had to return home to the USA earlier than expected so I was not able to go to Dover. This tour operator would not provide a refund enough though I cancelled more than 24 hours before I was scheduled to go to Dover. I thought all tours could be cancelled on that basis. Very disappointing.

    Day out

A lovely day to wander around Dover Castle and grounds. The tunnels, although interesting, were mainly seeing video footage, so not really worth the queue.

We spent over 6 hours here. You will not be disappointed. Inside the castle the docents are waiting to share their knowledge on each room of the castle. Many areas are decorated in the period and take you pack to that era. The grounds are beautiful. The WWII tunnels are a must, For me, being a WWII enthusiast this was a highlight for me.

An excellent and interesting excursion. A little bit of queueing for the tunnels, but worth the wait.

Dover castle was a dream tour for me since I taught history. Love castles. Lot of walking up hill it’s no wonder the castle was never taken..
