It is a little slow. The most interesting aspects are in the latter part of the tour. Would have liked more time in and around the cenotaph and the state green. The area in the mall was too drawn out

We are sorry that our tour did not live up to your expectations.
We have found over many years of conducting this tour that the majority of our guests enjoy the the tour as it highlights what the city was, and what it has become over the last 150+ years.
The Mall and Smith St in general have examples of early Darwin that cannot be found in other parts of the city.
We know that we do not suit everyones taste but we do try and include as much of our history and heritage as we can in the time allocated.
We hope that you enjoyed the rest of your time in Darwin.

There is not much walking, mostly listening about the town’s history. Lots said about bombing of Darwin and cyclone Tracy.

John and John gave us a great tour of downtown Darwin, showing us sites that we wouldn't otherwise have known about. it really is a worthwhile thing to do. Our guides were very knowledgeable and interesting. The walk is easy, they always stopped in the shade for our comfort. Very approachable, we asked lots of questions which they were happy to answer. This is a really good way to get a feel for Darwin. Good value. Heartily recommended!

John really knew what he was talking about. He stopped to let us take photos and happily answered any possible questions that we might have had. His enjoyment of his work is apparent and infectious. I, as a person who burns easily, also very much appreciated his dedication to making sure any time we stopped and had a chat, it was in the shade. A really wonderful time. If you have the time and want to get to know Darwin a little better, this is the way to go

The best part were the stories and anecdotes, which brought the city to life. The walk covered many aspects of city life and the interesting characters who dwelled in Darwin. It was well paced and the two hours passed in no time.

The guide was knowledgeable and friendly and it was great to learn about the impact of the bombing and cyclone. I felt, however, disappointed at the silence about the Larrakia people, other than an intro to their calendar. What was the nature of first contact here? What happened to the Aboriginal people living here in early years of the township? Some decades after the Mabo judgement we should have moved beyond referring to 'settlement' by white people, as though no one was settled here before. The land was not ceded. It was invaded or colonised. These are not just words: being truthful about the past is critical in facing up to our history and working towards reconciliation.
