What an incredible experience from start to finish! All thanks to our wonderful, extremely knowledgeable guide Malik! He made sure we did our best to avoid getting stuck in crowds of people, and it made all the difference. It was way better moving quickly to the front of people. Seeing the blue fire was amazing and Malik got some great photos and videos of us throughout the experience. You can tell he knows so much about Ijen and the volcanoes of East Java.

We had an excellent Ijen trekking tour yesterday. Aldo is very experienced and proactive operator. He customized our tour to give us the best possible experience. Thanks to him, we lost no time receiving medical authorisation and we positioned well for the trekking right when the gate was opened at 2:00am. Please be aware that there is a huge number of people trekking to the same small place in the crater where the blue light is observable. The last leg of the trail from the crater edge down to the blue light spot is treacherous. So, a trekking guide is recommended. Aldo introduced us to the guide Rouf who did excellent job leading us during the 6 miles round trip hike. For those who do not want to walk, there were many locals providing "taxi" services up and down. If you are lucky with the weather, you can see all three main attractions of the hike: the blue light, the sunrise, and the crater lake from the rim. I strongly recommend the activity and Aldo as a Ijen trekking tour operator.

We had a great and unique experience!
Big thanks to our two guides for this adventurous tour! Our driver, and the guide who joined us on our trip down the crater, were both extremely friendly and helpful! Both guides speak English very well and are funny and extremely friendly.
The tour is well organized, and our driver even drove us to our next destination after completing the tour!
Absolutely worth it!

Great scenery and challenging descent to the crater. Guides and drivers are not all that nice with tourists. So different from Bali where you feel welcomed everywhere.

Second, Andy is our primary guide which is always in priority to bring Trip Advisor guest. You can check another review below which mentioned Andy. I don't mean to protect my crew, but I'm really understand if people understanding are different compare each others.
Third, unfortunately you didn't explain specific about which "services" are bad till you compare to people in other province? When you're make a wrong schedule,we follow as your request without any problems. The guide are guiding both of you especially your father cause he need more attention regarding our dangerous route part. Also you speak with my guide about religion, business and even you give a tips to them at the end of tours. I do apologize if this kind of services aren't in your expectation.

The tour was fantastic, really worth while going to see. I will say however that the distance and inclines described were underestimated. In total it was 10Km, and the trip into the crater was on a very very steep rock trail. To fully enjoy, you should be used to doing some long walking.

Les guides ont été incroyablement accueillants, serviables, souriants, et nous avons pu discuter énormément avec eux.
Ils viennent vous chercher à votre hôtel et vous proposent café ou thé avant le départ de l'ascension.
Si vous avez froid, il y a de petites boutiques sur place où vous pourrez acheter des vêtements adaptés. Je vous conseille une tenue de sport/randonnée avec un bon pull.
Les guides vous fournissent lampe frontale et masque pour les fumées nocives.
Nous avons eu une chance incroyable, pas de pluie et ciel dégagé !
L'ascension est sportive pour ceux qui n'ont pas l'habitude, mais le guide anticipe tellement bien les choses qu'il est possible de faire quelques arrêts pour reprendre son souffle. Il est à l'écoute et bienveillant.
La descente vers les flammes bleues est risquée, prévoyez des chaussures de randonnées à crampons ! Une fois en bas, profitez ! Malgré le masque, nous avons toussé, pleuré (prévoyez des lunettes fermées si vous le pouvez) mais cela fait partie du jeu. Nous avons eu une chance inouïe car il y avait très peu de touristes : cela nous a permis de faire des photos sublimes sans être dérangés par les lampes et flashs des autres personnes. Puis, 10 minutes plus tard, des centaines de touristes affluent. Nous remontons tranquillement.
Ensuite, nous nous promenons sur le bord du cratère. Encore une fois, une chance de dingue : nous avons pu profiter d'une vue dégagée pendant quelques dizaines de minutes avant que la vapeur ne recouvre la vue.
Le guide joue au photographe, vous propose plusieurs spots de photos, et, surprise, il nous a même fait un petit montage vidéo que nous avons adoré !
Lorsque vous le décidez, redescente vers le taxi qui vous ramènera à l'hôtel. Une dernière chance énorme, la vue était dégagée et incroyablement sublime.
Petit conseil : lavez vos vêtements et sacs à votre retour, l'odeur du souffre s'imprègne fortement dessus et ne passe pas à l'aéroport ! ;)
Pour résumer : c'est une expérience physique et fatigante mais qui en vaut la peine. Chaque seconde est précieuse, il faut en profiter à fond car la nuit et au lever du soleil, tout change très vite. C'est époustouflant et il faut le faire au moins une fois dans sa vie.
Nos guides ont été géniaux, un grand merci pour cette expérience inoubliable. Le prix est largement adapté à l'expérience qui vous est offerte.
