great succinct trip to see the ghost town in the occupied territory of cyprus, tour was the perfect length. maybe be worth having multiple start times as it was an early start

Most likely would have been a very interesting trip, but the tour operator messed up with our booking and picked us up to a completely wrong trip. This appeared by chance only after discussing with other passengers in the car.
When I called the operator about the case, they promised to return to us with a possibility for the right tour the next day. But they never called me back. I needed to call the operator twice to get a full re-fund.
I think this wasn’t handled professionally at all.

George our tour guide was amazing! Cannot fault him, very informative but such a nice funny guy!
However we were told when we booked the trip pick up would be 7:45am and we didnt hear anything else. We were still waiting at 8:45am as I couldn't get through to anyone on the webchat or phone to confirm what was going on.

Very interesting day out with knowledgeable guides. A good opportunity to really explore the ghost town and hear some of the stories of people whose family were there. We had George (Not of the jungle) and Dmitri who were both excellent. Only comment would be to fix the air con in the van!

It’s rather disturbing to look war in the face but it’s also very interesting. You have people sunbathing in front of the old derelict 1970s hotels and barbed wire which the Greek Cypriots find disrespectful. It’s just a shame history is repeating itself all over the world! We found the tour on foot fascinating to see things pretty much as they were when they were left although clearly anything of value had been looted. So strange the Un there with a new road through it and the no mans land. Resettlement has clearly begun and only it importance as a tourist attraction is going to save it from complete Turkish resettlement which is ironic. Would have liked a more balanced recounting and just more information about the history and why the war started and why Turkey invaded. The guides English wasn’t great and the driver who picked us up was a man of few words. So commentary could have been so much better. Ours was €60 which was more expensive than the open top bus but we couldn’t do the days. Also someone said if you have a wedding bus all guest should get a further discount on their €40 price!
However we were glad we did the tour. You will want comfy shoes on to walk around Farmagusta.

This was an amazing experience. It was so worth doing. Very interesting as I’ve never seen anything like Famagusta. Our guide was very informative, he was friendly, polite and told us a lot about the history. I would highly recommend this trip.

But it seems you were lucky enough to be with our over enthusiastic driver Athos whom does get carried away with his tour because he has so much personal experience and history to share with you that he looses track of time. Athos was great guide and explained sights in detail with obvious knowledge of the area and its history. My son(12) also enjoyed the trip, Athos had a quiz that kept him engaged and the free time in Famagusta was a lovely way to end the trip. We were collected and dropped off at our hotel.

It is a tour which mixes so many emotions - awe, sadness, disbelief and many more. We were lucky to have Atos as our driver and guide. The man was himself part of the historical events back in 1974 that resulted in Varosha (part of Famagusta) becoming the Ghost Town so the commentary provided by him are first-hand stories. Atos knows everything about this place, its history and the people who once lived in Varosha. And he is so much fun, has such a great sense of humor. An absolutely amazing trip and experience, a must-do for anyone visiting this part of Cyprus.

A very interesting experience. Olga is very knowledgeable and she explains the story behind the invasion very well.
After visiting the visitors centre, you go through the checkpoints and explore Famagusta, it is eerie and fascinating.
You then visit the old town which is equally very interesting.

There were just 6 of us on this trip which made it easier to communicate with the guide and receive a more personal tour. Fascinating history and difficult to believe that the dispute has still not been resolved after all this time

Tour guide was very knowledgeable and it was fascinating to hear stories of real experiences. There are only some roads that have been opened for you to walk down but it gives you a very good idea what the "ghost town" feels like. The beach there is crystal clear and then we went to the old town which was just as fascinating. Well worth the money!

I am going to say that the history that our guide offered was thought provoking, shocking and sad. I had no idea of the history. It saddens me that 50 years later there is no resolution. That being said, my insights are 1. The guide was somewhat rude and gruff at times but I wonder if this is cultural. 2. The tour itself I think ran a little too long. It was listed as 4.5 hour for which we planned and was longer. Possibly more research on my part as I thought we would walk more along the shore area which is not possible and we walked up the abandoned shopping street which loses one's interest after the first couple of shops.After the walk in the ghost town we enjoyed an hour in the old town to see the Cathedral. 3. At the end of the tour after being dropped off I thought everything was included. Being from England I was taken back when directly asked for a tip. Luckily I had cash but some did not.

Than you for your detailed review. Just so some things are clearly the tour is only supposed to be a duration of 4-4.5 hours long. Athos having leaved through the Turkish invasion is a very passionate guide and can sometimes loose track of time telling his stories. We can only apologise for the extra time given and a huge apologies for the prompt to tip him. This is definitely against company policy and is only accepted as a voluntary gesture of appreciation.

This tour is a must! Athos our tour guide was absolutely fabulous 👌 he was so knowledgeable & kind. He was there when it happened. He told the truth which was refreshing. He was absolutely fantastic. The tour is great. It is such a shame what happened back then. Trying to imagine a once vibrant town was upsetting but learning all about the history was brilliant. Thoroughly enjoyed our day.
