We had a wonderful voyage of discovery with Matthew. Fantastic wines coupled with a deep knowledge of the region and its history. We found hidden gems and had a wonderful time. We would both highly recommend this tour, especially if you want the chance to look beyond the larger vineyards and create your own itinerary. Thanks for a great day.

We went to 3 wineries not 4 which was a better amount The included lunch was excellent Our driver was very knowledgeable friendly and made it all a very good day
Response from Host, Apr 2026
Hi Peter, after many years in the business we also realised that 3 wineries was the perfect amount of wineries to visit on tour. More time to relax, to taste, to take in the views and stories, and to connect with your fellow travellers and the region. Our experiences are not designed to be a drinking race but to get the best experience out of your day. Thanks for taking the time to provide valuable feedback.
Dawn_M, Apr 2026
We had a wonderful day visiting a number of fabulous vineyards with a great group of people. All the wineries were so generous with their wines and we ended up buying a few of our favourites. Lunch was amazing and we would recommend this tour wholeheartedly.
Response from Host, Apr 2026
Thanks Dawn, great to hear you're enjoying Craig out on tour in the beautiful Barossa. Looking at the itinerary he chose, your day included all of the most generous pouring wineries out there. Lunch would have been a very welcome intermission! Thanks for the great review.
Barbara_N, Jan 2026
Matt was an excellent and knowledgeable guide. The tour was enjoyable, and the surroundings were gorgeous. The lunch was a feast for our eyes and palate. Though not Matt’s fault, of the three wineries, two were not very personable, which made experiencing their wines less enjoyable. Overall, we enjoyed our day and the tour.
Response from Host, Jan 2026
Thanks for the feedback Barbara. We always monitor our winery partners for quality service, so it's news to hear that a couple weren't up to scratch. I'll be having my guides report back on all three wineries in future to see if this was a once off, if there are new staff that require some training, or if it was just an off day. As it happens, I had already aksed Matt for feedback on one of the wineries you visited and he said the service and knowledge was great - so we should be back. Thanks again.

Driver had exceptional knowledge of the area and wineries. We loved the tour. Vehicle was comfortable.
Response from Host, Jan 2026
Thank you Julie for taking the time to write wonderful review. We are stoked to hear you had such a fab time with us on tour.

Absolutely amazing wine tasting day. Our guide Tom was brilliant, very well informed, friendly and professional. The tour included a beautiful lunch and all of the vineyards were welcoming. Highly recommend.
Response from Host, Jun 2025
Thanks for the kind words, Kate. We take great pride in our relationships with the wineries, so they treat our guests like family. Our guides also have a lot of say in how the day unfolds, so we're pleased to hear Tom took great care of you - he's a fabulous host.
ATLTRAVELQUEEN, Mar 2025
Matt was a great tour guide to Barossa. He has an excellent knowledge of wines and the area. He chose a variety of smaller wineries but where we also would have the opportunity to likely access them in the US. The small group (we were 5) was perfect as our tastings were personalized. We had to stay on schedule but didn't seem too rushed.
Response from Host, Mar 2025
Hi there, great to hear you had a lovely day out with "the other" Matt. He's such a passionate and knowledgeable guide, I love that it comes across to our guests. We aim to give our guests just under an hour at each winery, and about 75 minutes for lunch. We've found it's enough time to have a relaxed experience, but we do need to move on once we're done. Some other operators try to cram in 5 or 6 wineries, and o have no idea how the would do that - their groups would be incredibly rushed all day long! Sometimes less is more.
Thanks for the fab feedback!
Emanuel_M, Mar 2025
Wonderfuly day out, great vineyards on the way, a very tasty lunch and super interesting insights and local knowledge along the way. Highly recommend!

Chris is an amazing guide with a lifetime of experience across the wine industry - over 40 years of it! We are very happy to have him working with us here at Small Batch and are stoked to hear you had a great time with him out in the Barossa. Thank you for the fab feedback Lucinda :)

We had a fantastic time on our wine tour yesterday. Matt was amazing and so accommodating when I came to all guests particular tastes. Lunch was super tasty and had a great time with the other guests. Would highly recommend to anyone else. Had a blast!
Response from Host, Nov 2024
Hi there Lara, thanks for leaving some great feedback about your time on tour with Matt B. Boutique wineries with outstanding wines, fabulous shared lunch, a tiny group of like-minded guests - the perfect day! Very happy you thought so too.
Donna_N, Nov 2024
This micro tour was a wonderful experience. This was our first visit to this wine region and we enjoyed every winery visited. Tom our tour guide did a great job teaching us about the wine region and the four wineries visited provided us a wide range of different wine types indicative of the Barossa valley.
Both the journey out to the wine region and return trip was very comfortable and relaxing. We had a great time with Tom and the two other people on our small group tour.
If you are looking to dip your toes into understanding the different varietals found in this region, then consider this group tour. We rated it 5/5.
Response from Host, Nov 2024
Thanks for the 5+star review Donna! All our guides take great care in creating a journey of discovery, no matter your level of expertise. We're very happy to hear you had a great time on tour with Small Batch Wine Tours

We booked the small group but ended up it was just my husband and I. Paul was a wonderful guide and we had a fantastic day. We visited 4 very different wineries. It was a cold, rainy day and Paul had changed the itinerary to suit the conditions. We were welcomed and had a private tasting experience at each winery.
Response from Host, Jul 2024
Thanks very much for the kind review. We always adapt our itineraries to the seasons, and our guests' level of expertise. Paul is great at his role and an asset to the Small Batch Wine Tours team. Very happy to hear you enjoyed your lucky private tour of the Barossa - a benefit of travelling in low season!
Christopher_B, Jul 2024
Matthew really went out of his way to create a special tailored day for our small group.
We began our day at Murray Street followed by Tomfoolery.
We had an amazing lunch at Vino Lokal made up with a generous variety of share plates.
We then dropped into Rockford and finished the day at Torbreck. Many wines were purchased at each of the venues to stock our cellar for the year.
Response from Host, Jul 2024
Thanks for the great feedback Christopher. As you discovered, our guides and itineraries are ultimately flexible. When you all stepped onboard and mentioned Rockford, "the other Matt" changed it up to make sure you could visit as part of your tour. Thanks again for the support and I hope to see you back again with Small Batch soon.
Ka_K, Jun 2024
The wineries selected were exceptional, the car was extremely clean and comfortable, the lunch tasted great, the guide’s friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Don’t think I can ever ask for more than this experience, highly recommended! 👍
Response from Host, Jun 2024
Thanks for the perfect score, Kar! Happy to take a local around and then hear you enjoyed yourselves so much. Amazing.
Kathy_S, Apr 2024
We went to some beautiful wineries and the hosts were fun and informative. Paul, our guide, was terrific and provided lots of interesting history about Adelaide.
Response from Host, May 2024
Thanks for the great review Kathy.

My wife and I were looking for a more intimate wine tasting tour of Barossa and boy did we find a great one! Mathew provided us with a fun and very educational trip through four wineries in the valley, sampling lots of different wines in different areas. A fantastic lunch was provided at yet another winery. There were only 3 guests in our group so lots of engagement and chatting. This tour was worth every penny!
Response from Host, Feb 2024
Gday Dennis - what a fab day out! Thanks so much for the fantastic feedback, it means a lot. Much planning and relationship building goes into creating these tour itineraries and experiences so very happy to hear you think it was well worth the money.
Carsten_P, Dec 2023
Great to see Barossa Valley and listening to Paul’s stories about region and the different wineries we visited. The four wineries were a great range of the variety within Barossa Valley. Lunch was delicious.
Response from Host, Feb 2024
Thanks very much for the feedback Carsten. Paul has a wealth of experience and knowledge to share with guests and we're delighted to hear you enjoyed his efforts.
Beverly_W, Aug 2023
We had a wonderful day in the Barossa Valley tasting wine. Paul was a phenomenal guide who was very knowledgeable about wine and the valley. The four cellar doors we visited where all quite different and interesting. And, lunch was a dining experience. We would highly recommend this tour.
Response from Host, Aug 2023
We're so lucky to work with such fab wineries and restaurants with our top guides like Paul to bring it all together. Thanks for taking the time to write a review Beverly, and for choosing Small Batch!
Michael_G, Jan 2023
Matthew, Small Batch Wine Tours, put together a day of tasting at four diverse wineries that showed us the variety of Barossa Valley producers - large and small vineyards, all with excellent wines and generous lists for tasting. He was flexible too because he included wineries that met each of our requests.
Matthew has a great depth of knowledge about the Barossa Valley, wine making and vineyards around the world. He shared his expansive knowledge in a way that was easy to understand.
Our lunch, included in the price of the tour, was served family style and was plentiful and delicious.
Prior to our tour Matthew sent a list of some of his favorite restaurants in Adelaide. An unexpected and much appreciated plus.
If you choose Small Batch Wine Tours you'll be very glad you did.
Response from Host, Jan 2023
Thanks Michael for such a fab review! Flexibility is key in creating a memorable experience, we don't believe in cookie cutter or one size fits all tours. We definitely do not cut corners on experience or lunch for that matter, so very happy to hear it was well received. Cheers
Saleem_J, Sep 2021
We live in Adelaide and wanted to experience out of the way boutique vineyards and wineries that were pushing the envelope to producing small batch quality wines.
Matthew our guide arranged to take us to four family wineries that allowed us to experience the highs and lows of producing high quality wines that the multinational wine makers focused only on profits. Matthew’s knowledge of the region the winemakers and the process of wine making provided an exceptional understanding with layman terms to technical wine making challenges.
This is a one of a kind experience.
Matthew looked after everything from wine tasting charges when they applied to lunch to transport.
Whether you live in Adelaide or are visiting the Barossa if you don’t do this tour you haven’t experienced the best.
Response from Host, Sep 2021
Humbled by your words, Saleem. I had a great time showing you and your family around your new home, and sharing with you all some of my wine wisdoms. Happy to have helped you have such a great day, and looking forward to having you back onboard again some time.
gizzy229, Oct 2019
Four very good wineries, Ballycroft Vineyard and Cellars was the outstanding. Toured, tasted & purchased. Thank you Matt & Joe
ROBIN_M, Sep 2019
Our guide for the day was Matt.
He was extremely informative about wines, the processing and harvesting, tastings.
He took us to 4 wineries, after the first he had the idea of what types of wines we liked and matched the next three to our tastes.
Lunch was a pleasure, local produce, delicious!
We went to Maggie Beer's shop and sampled her goodies.
Treats and wines to take back home were collected over our day.
Matt gave us great tips of where to eat/visit in Adelaide. We were not disappointed with any of his recommendations!
We thoroughly recommend this trip.
Response from Host, Sep 2019
Cheers for the feedback Brad! Very happy to hear that all of my recommendations were winners. The pics you posted through surely made it look like you were enjoying yourselves on the River Torrens the next day - such a beautiful spot.
See you lot again some time? :)

We 6 friends on a girls trip had an awesome day touring the Barossa with Matt. He was knowledgable and fun, and even booked us into an amazing restaurant for lunch my personal highlight...the food was amazing
The wineries were all very different, which made it nice to see how different they all were. He even stopped into a distillery for my special request for a bottle of gin. The transport was very comfortable, and Matt even put up with our singing on the way back, haha.
Thanks Matt, we had a great day!
John M, Nov 2017
The tour was excellent in every respect. Matt was knowledgeable about wines generally and took us to vineyards of our choice in the Barossa Valley. We had a wonderful day: beautiful scenery, great wines, comfortable transportation and a charming, bright, personable host. Truly a memorable experience and great to be on such a small tour just the two of us and Matt.

Hi Sylvain,
So very happy to hear you enjoyed your time with us and our newest guide Cheryl. Thank you so much for the fantastic feedback/review and for your support.
