Bomba is a traditional fast-paced rhythmic music and dance style created by African slaves in Puerto Rico over 400 years ago. This music and dance style originated in Loiza and was used as a form of communication between slaves. It is celebrated as a form of self and community expression today. The bomba dancer moves as she wishes, and the drummers follow her lead. Visitors will learn and participate in the rhythms of bomba and appreciate the freedom of the dance style. This activity is different than others because you directly learn from the local community. Sheila, our dance instructor, travels worldwide to showcase Bomba, and she is excited to continue the tradition with you.

Fabulous dance class

Having booked this class for myself, I was super nervous about attending alone, but I needn't have been. Steven put me at ease instantly. He was so friendly and kind, and a really good dancer! I'd like to report I left more of an expert in salsa, but I feel that would be over-egging the pudding. However, I did learn some steps and, importantly, had fun!

The Best Salsa Dance on the Beach

Michael was extremely outgoing, fun and knowledgeable about how to get people who never salsa before to a high level of confidence. I have been dancing salsa all of my life and just wanted to exercise in a fun way. And it was beyond my wildest expectations as we danced facing the ocean and what a view!!!! I was the only one without a partner, as I traveled solo. Michael chose me to be his partner, which made my experience even more delightful being part of the ‘ unofficial teaching duo’ . I give him 10/10 stars!!!!

The salsa class with Juan was excellent! I would honestly give it more than 5 stars if I could. Juan is a great instructor and did an excellent job of balancing different skill levels. I first heard about his classes through a YouTube video while looking for things to do in Puerto Rico. It was very clear that his salsa lesson was the highlight of the youtuber's trip because of how much she learned during the class. I was so happy to see that he had availability during my visit to Puerto Rico. Juan also went out of his way to help me cross a busy street, which I greatly appreciated. (I parked on the opposite side of the park, but there are parallel parking spots right next to the park if you're able to grab one of those.) Thank you again, Juan! I highly recommend this class to anyone visiting Puerto Rico, whether you're a complete beginner or have some salsa experience.

Tremendous, excellent...

Tremendous, excellent experience! The instructor, Andres, was amazing, not only in teaching the salsa lesson but also in explaining its history. He really took his time to demonstrate the steps. I greatly appreciated how helpful you were whenever there was confusion about the steps; the class was so much fun. I recommend this as a solo activity or something to do with your partners, friends, or even kids. I never knew I could salsa, but he made everyone feel capable. The instructor was very experienced, which I liked. It’s super friendly and overall a great time.

Perfect for couples and individuals🥰.... we had a small intimate group. Gabby gave us all personal attention and guidance. Her instructions were easy to follow and she really broke everything down step by step. The location was also a good vibe, beautiful park. The club afterwards was fire. Great vibes, live band, and even better dancers!!! As great as they were they didn't mind us being on the floor doing our little 1, 2 lol. Truly a cultural experience. Good vibes, great memories, and a new skill learned. 10/10 recommend!!! This was my first Salsa class BTW.
