Top Crete Shore Excursions

Welcome to Chania! If you are looking for an escape that goes beyond the ordinary and want to get to know our place like true guests and not just passersby, you are in the right place! This tour is designed with a lot of love for those who arrive by cruise ship and want to experience Crete in its most authentic version. This is not another standardized tour, but a beautiful journey of getting to know the three most precious goods of our island: oil, wine and delicious, homemade food. We take you with us away from the busy tourist trails, where tradition remains alive and unadulterated! As soon as you disembark, our comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle awaits you. Maximum group size: 7 people. For groups of more than 7, the tour is available only as a private group, up to a maximum of 11 people.

This tour is unique because it follows the old Cretan way: slow, grounded, and honest. It is not built around crowded highlights or staged encounters, but around places where life still happens quietly and traditions are lived rather than explained. From a family-run olive mill where knowledge is passed by habit, not brochures, to Skotino Cave — raw, silent, and deeply spiritual — the experience stays close to the land and its memory. On the Lasithi Plateau, the journey opens up. Windmills, fields, and villages appear without urgency, and a simple stop at a kafenio for coffee or tsikoudia becomes a moment of connection, not a checkbox. Krasi closes the day the right way: shade, spring water, and a village square that asks nothing from you except to slow down. This is a private journey shaped by rhythm, not schedules — Crete as it was, and in many places, still is.

Crete’s true rhythm isn’t at the beaches but inland, where old olive trees whisper and the air carries wild thyme. Here you meet people who still work as their grandparents did, with steady hands and no rush. Your journey begins at a family olive mill, tasting fresh oil straight from the press. A small winery follows, offering local varieties and cellar warmth. Then a raki distillery opens its doors, showing how this spirited drink is made and why it’s tied to friendship. Last comes the quiet charm of a handmade soap workshop, where olive oil becomes something fragrant and simple. Each stop offers stories, flavors, and moments from a slower, more grounded era. This experience isn’t just sightseeing — it’s stepping into the real Crete and leaving with a full heart and a taste of its soul.

Discover the real Crete with an exclusive journey into its heart. Start at Aposelemis Dam and hear the tales of its hidden villages, then visit Panagia Kera Monastery to admire its historic frescoes. Explore the Lassithi Plateau, with its iconic windmills, and descend into the legendary Cave of Zeus, said to be the birthplace of the king of gods. Rest under the ancient Platanus Tree in Krassi, standing for 2,400 years, and learn the secrets of olive oil at the Omiaia Olive Press. End at the majestic Palace of Knossos, walking through the remnants of the Minoan world. Experience Crete through stories, sights, and flavors that reveal its true soul.

Hike off the beaten track through the wild mountains of Crete. You will be rewarded with unique views of Mirabello Bay and the surrounding mountains, mountain villages and olive groves. A day packed with tangible Minoan history and mythology of Greece, nowhere can you get closer and enjoy nature, endemic flora and unique fauna. Hike with a professional, experienced guide to the hidden "Machu Picchu" of Greece, the unique stepped buildings from ancient times.

Begin with a scenic drive to the historic Holy Trinity Monastery (Agia Triada), one of the most beautiful and important monasteries in Crete. Surrounded by vineyards, olive groves, and stunning architecture dating back to the 17th century, the monastery offers visitors a peaceful atmosphere and a glimpse into the island’s spiritual and cultural heritage. Taste different varieties of virgin olive oil. The final stop of the tour is the renowned Dourakis Winery, a family-owned winery nestled in the beautiful Cretan countryside. Here, enjoy a guided wine tasting featuring selected local wines made from indigenous Cretan grape varieties. Relax in the peaceful vineyard surroundings and experience the warm hospitality that makes Crete so special.

Explore the area of Rethymno, which also played a vital role during the Battle of Crete, both in the battlefield sector & during the evacuation of the troops towards Alexandria. After a short while, we make a stop at Kourtaliotiko Gorge, a gorge of impeccable beauty, being used for the evacuation of the troops during the battle. Our historian tour guide explains hidden aspects of the Battle of Crete and WW2 in Greece. After a while, we reach our main goal the Monastery of Preveli and the Palm Grove of Preveli which was used as an evacuating spot for the Allies during WW2. We make our way towards the artefacts of the monastery, and we understand its strategic spot, as well as learn about unknown myths and traditions of the Battle of Crete. We continue having a lunch break in a tavern that treats us with traditional Cretan specialities and delicacies, before reaching the Australian War Memorial in the city of Rethymno, and the HILL A crucial to the Battle of Crete on Rethymno side.
