Fabulous experience cooking Cretan dishes
It’s a very well organized and well run cooking class that goes like clock work.
All participants get hands on experience in preparing their meal.
The meal at the end is very substantive and delicious … best to skip a meal before coming to this class. 😁

Wonderful Cooking Experience from Welcoming Family
We had a wonderful Cretan experience with Sevi and her mom.
As a cruise passenger, she helped us coordinate taxi transportation to/from the port and was outside to welcome us when we arrived.
Due to other guests not able to attend last minute, we had a our own "private" class. We chose a salad (dakos), starter (saganaki), main (lamb with green beans and potatoes) and dessert (loukoumedes) from a recipe book of options based on seasonal ingredients.
We were given a tour of the farm to see the fruits, vegetables, herbs, snails and animals and including feeding the goats. Then on to prepare and enjoy our meal with local wine and great conversation while being in awe of amazing views of Crete.
The meal was absolutely wonderful. We can't stop talking about the lamb stew and have already bought ingredients to try making ourselves this week now that we've returned home from travel.
Sevi sent us on our way with great memories and a souvenier for our trip which has already found it's home in our kitchen.
I would highly recommend this tour or visiting the restaurant itself. We will definately return on our next visit to Crete!

Amazing Day!!
So Much More Than a Cooking Class!
We had the most wonderful day at Veggera. From the moment we arrived, it felt less like a cooking class and more like being welcomed into a Cretan family’s home.
Brother and sister Paraskevas and Sophia started Veggera together two years ago, and they are truly what makes this experience so special. They are both adorable, warm, funny and incredibly engaging. Paraskevas greeted us with a personality that radiated warmth from the moment he said hello, and Sophia was equally friendly, charming—personable, and a wonderful instructor. Her motto for cooking was “as you feel”—there was no wrong way to do anything. Just relax, cook and enjoy.
Their parents’ beautiful home is surrounded by lemon and pomegranate trees, prickly pear, gardens and fresh herbs—even an old rowboat converted into an herb garden. We began with coffee and cookies and a chance to meet the other guests before gathering around the tables to cook.
We chopped fresh, homegrown zucchini, onions potatoes, tomatoes, dill and other vegetables and herbs along with feta cheese and goat cheese. We rolled our own dough abd stuffed with cheeses and inions and helped prepare a wonderful feast of lamb, sheep and fresh vegetables, which Sophia cooked in their wood-burning oven.
While our meal cooked, Paraskevas showed us around the property, where we fed the goats, saw rabbits and birds, and even had the opportunity to milk the goats if we wanted to. Their parents were there helping as well, which made the experience feel even more authentic and family-oriented. Nothing felt staged or touristy—it genuinely felt like a family opening their home and sharing their life and traditions with us.
There were 14 of us, all strangers when we arrived. Somewhere between cooking, laughing, feeding goats and sharing a delicious meal around the table, strangers became friends.
The perfect ending came when Paraskevas took out his mandolin and began to play while Sophia got everyone up and led us in a traditional dance. Soon everyone was laughing, dancing and enjoying the music together.
Five hours later, I honestly didn’t want it to end. Paraskevas and Sophia have created something incredibly special—food, family, friendship and genuine Cretan hospitality all wrapped into one unforgettable experience.
We arrived as guests and left feeling like friends. One of the absolute highlights of our trip to Crete. Don’t miss it!

Lovely tour, beautiful farm, educational, and vegan tasting for us
Lovely tour, beautiful farm, educational, and the tasting was very generous and delicious! Also, we are vegan, so they updated our offering accordingly and did not provide animal products. So nice of them!! We had a great experience! They even have a wall you can paint :)

Go! Incredible family… GO! You’ll love it!
Such a precious family! The experience was amazing… but aside from the cooking class, and what we actually signed up for… the WHOLE “experience” offered far more! We were introduced to the farm dog “Ira” who was adorable, we met family members and were treated like part of the family from start to finish! I feel like, in the past, similar classes have been nice but we’re ready to head back after the allotted time is up but this one? We had awesome conversation and had to make ourselves leave! It’s incredibly informative, terrific food, beautiful family, and a truly amazing experience!
