This mosaic-making class in Marrakesh was one of the highlights of my trip. From the moment I was picked up, Abdul and Imad (my translator/driver/guide/friend/comedian/historian) were incredibly friendly and helpful. They made the entire experience feel warm and welcoming, and truly showed me the meaning of Moroccan hospitality.
Mr. Zadiq, the master craftsman, is a true artist. His knowledge, passion, and endless patience were amazing — especially with my eager but very unskillful attempts! Everyone involved was so encouraging and clearly proud of this beautiful craft and tradition.
I learned so much, laughed a lot, and left with a deep appreciation for the artistry behind Moroccan mosaics. Such a fun, memorable, and authentic experience. Highly recommend!

This was so much fun! Definitely a highlight of our family trip to Morocco! It was relaxed and felt safe, with no attempt to sell, or any pressure. Everyone was really friendly, we had a great several hours with creative and fun activities that allowed us to experience what it is like to make a real mosaic. There was a driver (who helped with translation) and a master mosaicist, who was amazing to see. The workshop is on the outskirts of town, which the driver took us to. We got a tour of the ovens and some tea before we began. Then the master demonstrated and let us try chipping out tiles, arranging them, and then helped us create our own small square mosaics a bit bigger than a standard coaster, to take home as a souvenir. We each had our own little work space. We had kids, and I think someone as young as seven can do all the steps and have fun. It gave me a real appreciation for the challenge of this craft, and his work is truly beautiful.

What an excellent experience! Zouhair was a great guide and translator and it was wonderful to spend the time with the kind Mr. Zadiq in his workshop. Seeing how much skill and time goes into creating these mosaics really helps you appreciate them.
This was wonderfully insightful while being lots of fun! Would definitely recommend.

This mosaic‑making workshop was one of the most enjoyable and memorable activities of my time in Marrakech. A special mention has to go to Amine, our driver, who stayed for the entire session to help translate, explain each stage of the process, and make sure everyone felt confident and involved. His support genuinely elevated the experience.
The workshop itself is set among stunning examples of traditional Moroccan mosaic work, which makes the whole environment feel inspiring from the moment you arrive. We were shown every step of the process—from selecting tiles to shaping, arranging, and fixing them—and it was fun, interactive and absorbing throughout.
By the end, I came away with a coaster‑sized mosaic of my own creation, which makes for a lovely, personal souvenir.
If you’re looking for a creative, hands‑on activity that teaches you something real about Moroccan craftsmanship, this workshop is a fantastic choice.

This was a fabulous experience - thought I was going on a Group tour but ended up solo private tour just for me . Had a great driver/ interpreter in Amine who safely navigated the crazy streets of Marrakech and got me to the artisans studio where I learnt about the skills required to make tiles, cut them and put them together. I had clear instructions and explanations and it’s way harder than it looks to make precision cuts. The tile craftsman had over 40 years experience so he totally made it look easier than it was. I was guided through the process and made my own tile crafted by me with just a little help…. Finally we reviewed his photo gallery of his projects over tea and local biscuits.
I had a great time and would highly recommend this experience for something a little different to the usual touristy experiences .

A beautiful window into the craftsmanship of mosaic tiles that glisten across Morocco, from inception to the final product. It was a light taster session that offered insight into the process, from earthy sediments to the precision of Islamic architectural mosaics.
I was a solo traveller, and my guide, Zouhair, was fantastic from start to finish; picking me up from Marrakech, interpreting throughout the session, and returning me safely to the city.
It was a perfect afternoon trip to unwind away from Marrakech and gain a real sense and understanding of how mosaics are created.

What a fun and informative morning! We were picked up by Zouhair who ferried us over to the mosaic workshop of a local artisan, Mr. Sadik after having a mint tea and some biscuits, we looked at some pictures of the beautiful work he had done. Zouhair was there as the expert translator and assistant to Mr. Sadik. Afterwards we were taught how the mosaics were made, start to finish and then we worked on shaping some of the small tiles ourselves. And finally, we created our own memento, a coaster size mosaic that we got to take home with us. Was such a great morning! Zouhair then returned us to our hotel, and we left not just understanding how to make mosaics but also with more appreciation for the kind people of Marrakech! Would highly recommend!

This was a lovely experience for myself and my daughter. We decided to skip the usual excursions and came across this gem. Well we were very happy, the host greeted us with traditional turkish tea and biscuits and regaled us with his own history. He is an expert craftsman and took his time to teach us every skill he used in his mosaic making trade. He tested us with mosaic puzzles before we could make our own and then we got to take them home! Honestly could not recommend highly enough! Our driver Aminne, was also very brilliant collecting us and staying with us the whole time, translating and helping us along with each task. Nothing was too much trouble. Thank you both for being so welcoming and for a wonderful excursion!

Everything felt authentic and hands-on, and I came away with a real appreciation for the craftsmanship behind traditional zellige. We loved our experience with the master, Sadiq. He was patient and kind--our entire family loved the activity. In particular, the experience is thoughtfully laid out as participants were able to chisel away tiles, lay them out in a beautiful arrangement, and make our own tile artwork. In addition, Abdel (driver and translator) was great with pickup and wonderful at answering any questions we had about Marrakech, as well as being helpful during the workshop. As a tip, please bring enough money to tip both the master and the driver/translator!

This was such a special unique experience that took you through the process of learning how to create mosaic tiles. The instructor was so incredibly sweet and did such a great job teaching everyone his craft. We had 11 and 14 year old boys with us and they said this was the best thing they have done in Marrakech. The highest of honors coming from a tween and teen!

This is a MUST do when you are in Morocco! We had the best time at this workshop. We were met by a professional English speaking driver and taken to the authentic workshop where we were greeted with tea and cookies. During the workshop we got to try all the steps of making a mosaic including a piece to take home. The artist we worked with was so talented (and patient). Totally worth it!!

I very much enjoyed the experience of both observing and trying traditional mosaic techniques. The teacher was a master and very good at showing the techniques.
I also was really pleased with my small trivet that I will be taking home with me as a memory.

Really enjoyed this experience! The driver picked us up in a convenient location, and the drive was safe and comfortable. He stayed with us and served as the English translator for the artisan. We were kindly served tea and then the workshop started. We saw the process step by step. Chiseled a few pieces - which of course the artisan made look very easy! He helped us with grace and humor. Then we learned how to put a mosaic together. Lastly we selected pieces and made our own tile which we got to take home. It was a very pleasant couple of hours and I would highly recommend this experience to anyone who is also enchanted with the mosaics of Marrakech!

The entire experience was amazing starting from the car ride to the location. The driver was very kind and sociable, and would help us come up with where to go for food or activities after. After reaching the studio, the instructor showed us how to make the tiles from scratch and allowed us to chisel our own tiles (which is really hard but he walks you through it). He also showed us how to design the tiles and eventually design our own and keep it as a souvenir. Highly recommend for anyone (especially beginners) to try out!

Wonderful and unique experience.
As there was only our group joined the workshop, it became a private tour. Master was super nice and we could experience every step in mosaic. It was really hard to do the mosaic cut! But you will have your own made coaster. Memorable and shall not be missed.

One of our favourite experiences! The experience was so authentic and unique, something we will remember forever and have a little take home piece to keep as a reminder.
Essadik was a wonderful teacher, such a kind, gentle man with a wealth of knowledge and patience! So warm and welcoming.
You actually are given a chisel and tiles to cut your own shapes. Much harder than it looks. And then the fun part of designing your own tile to take home.
Would highly recommend this experience to anyone for something a little different to fill a morning

It was a very fun and unique experience! Sadek and Abdel were very hospitable and kind. You get to learn about the process of making mosaics, from cutting the tiles to putting them together to form a pattern. Ultimately bringing home a very nice mosaic pattern.

I went on another mosaic tour during my time in Morocco but this was the best. You actually are given a chisel to make your own tiles. This class gives you an appreciation for the talent it takes to make the beautiful mosaics. I highly recommend this experience.

The ceramic mosaic workshop was fabulous! My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed the way it was taught (Sabik) with the translation and help of Abdel kindly, warmly and charmingly taught us to cut tile, place pieces for a team project and then make our own tiles to take with us. We had so much fun and really developed a renewed appreciation for all these magnificent mosaics! Abdel picked us up at our hotel, provided water and a drive by tour of the places we saw on the way. A delightful experience - so glad we did it!

Brilliant hands-on experience! We saw how the tiles are made by hand and fired. Then we had a go at shaping some mosaic tile pieces, which was more difficult than it seems! Then we made mosaic coasters which we took home. Fantastic experience, highly recommended.

This experience in Marrakech was so cool! The workshop is located just outside the city, so be prepared for a short drive—but it was absolutely worth it. Guided by a master mosaicist, we learned every step of the process, from cutting the tesserae to assembling traditional Moroccan patterns. Through this experience, we discovered the history of this craft and the symbolic meaning behind the geometric designs.
It was just us and one other family, so it felt almost private. The experience was unique, authentic, and hands-on—we each got to create our own tile to take home. I would highly recommend this—it really makes you appreciate the skill and artistry of the Moroccan people.
