My friend and I so enjoyed our guided horseback tour, mainly through groves and on dirt roads by farms, but leading down to the ocean for a brief view. Elaud, our guide hasn’t even been there 2 years but is so calm and knowledgeable, you’d think it was a lifelong career. Can’t sing enough praises for him and his enthusiasm and passion. The horses appear well cared for and loved. Highly recommend this group!

First off, took an hour and twenty minutes to get there at a cost of an additional $160. No running water/bathroom at the location.
Ride and instructor (Michael) were nice but never actually road the beach as it was advertised due to the crossing from the trail being when the tide was coming in.

Your group did ride on part of the beach, but the high tide prevented us from safely continuing along the remaining section. Deep water covered sharp rocks at the crossing, creating a risk that a horse could stumble and a rider could fall, suffering serious cuts or other injuries. Protecting our guests and horses must always come first.
Local regulations restrict horseback riding to a designated beach area, so we could not simply use another stretch of beach. Although we cannot control the tide or weather conditions, we are responsible for deciding when it is unsafe to continue.
There was a bathroom and drinking water available at the property.
Regarding the $160 transportation expense, our company did not arrange, price, or collect payment for your transportation from Puerto Caldera. That expense was separate from the horseback riding tour. The Puerto Caldera is located 1.5 hours away from our spot. We can't include transportation from there, (you paid $120 for your 2 people). the cost of a transportation will be higher than what you paid for the tour. That situation is out of our control.
We understand your disappointment about the shortened beach section. We should have communicated the limitations and available facilities more clearly, but we stand by the decision to avoid an unsafe crossing.
Michael the guide was great. But this was not horseback riding on the beach. We went to a mangrove for 5 min and then back to base camp.

We would like to clarify that your group did reach and ride on part of the beach. However, the high tide prevented us from safely continuing to the remaining section. The crossing contains sharp rocks that were covered by deep water. If a horse lost its footing, both the rider and the horse could fall onto those rocks and suffer serious injuries. We could not responsibly take that risk.
Local regulations only allow horseback riding in a designated beach area, which is where we were riding. We could not take an alternative route through the restricted sections.
We cannot control the tide or weather conditions, but we can—and must—make decisions that protect our guests and horses. That is why we shortened the beach portion that day.
We understand that you booked hoping to enjoy more time riding along the beach. We apologize that the safety limitations were not explained clearly enough and appreciate the opportunity to provide this context.
10/10 hands down one of the best experiences we had in Costa Rica! Eliud was the perfect tour guide. He made sure my sisters and I felt comfortable from the very beginning, and he guided us every step of the way. The horses were well-trained, gentle, and amazing to ride.

We had a wonderful time on our horseback tour. We went through old plantation fields crossed a river and went to the beach. Our Guild was very polite, knowledgeable and helpful. He took pictures for us as we rode. He spotted our first sloth of our trip and seen some monkeys. Overall we had a great time, well worth the money and time.
Great tour. Fun guide. Beach beautiful. The horses were easy to ride and the guide was knowledgeable. You could gallup when you wanted. Recommend long pants/jeans for more comfortable ride.
Eliud was an excellent guide, bilingual and generous and knowledgeable. The weather and time of day (1000) were perfect, and we were able to navigate through a palm plantation and the beach. Eliud pointed out wildlife and plant life (like a sloth & hermit crabs!). And the beach portion was beautiful. Our group size was small which made for a personal experience. Would recommend!
Amazing experience. I was a little scared at first but it turned out to be very fun and exciting. The horses are well trained and kind of like already know what to do themselves and the route. Our tour guide was very experienced and kind. Would recommend doing this is staying in Jaco! Literally like 3 minutes away and only takes 2 hours, you’re given a 10min break by the beach to take pictures and rest. WEAR SUNSCREEN!!

This horseback riding experience in Jaco Beach was absolutely amazing from start to finish. Riding along the beach was something we’ll never forget — the views were beautiful and the horses were calm, well cared for, and easy to ride.
The guides were friendly, helpful, and made the whole experience fun and relaxing. The atmosphere was peaceful, scenic, and perfect for making memories with family and friends.
If you’re visiting Costa Rica, this is definitely something you should add to your trip. Highly recommend for couples, families, or anyone wanting an unforgettable beach experience! ☀️🐎
Absolutely amazing and stunning experience. Such a good bang for your buck and yes I’d do it again! I’ve never ridden a horse before and was honestly feeling so well taken care of here. I was scared and was able to manage very well.

Ride was super great and I have to give credit to our quide Elliott. U want to see sloths? Done. Monkeys? Done. Learn about the flora? Done. He rubbed some leaves together and his hands turned blood red. Teakwood tree. He spots plants and animals like a local which he is. Our horses Turbo and Chapo, well trained.

This experience was a 10 out of 10. The staff was extremely professional and our guide Eliud was An absolute gem! He was so kind and refreshing and made our horseback riding adventure extra special! I definitely recommend.

This was the best horseback riding experience we have ever had! Our tour started at 4pm and it was nice to have just my wife and I do the tour together to feel more intimate. However, this tour would be amazing for groups of all sizes. Eluid was our tour guide and he went above and beyond to take photos and videos so we can enjoy the views and be present. Eluid was truly remarkable he made the tour so memorable with his knowledge and amazing personality I definitely recommend asking him to be your tour guide.

Very fun experience. We purposely chose the 7am time. It was basically a private tour for us and our two kids. Both children (ages 7 and 10) enjoyed the ride. Horses were very well behaved and trained. Our guide was very kind and patient. He took videos and pictures of us during the ride and during our stop at the beach. The ride was very peaceful. Highly recommend!

Had an amazing time on this tour. Our guide was super knowledgeable and clearly very experienced in giving tours. We got to learn a lot about Costa Rican culture and wildlife. We also spotted a sloth and a pair of macaws on our tour. Would definitely recommend this tour.

Great guides, we had two of them, they did a great job accommodating us, taking photos. We saw a sloth! Great ride. Next time I’ll book a private one so I have more time on the beach. You go through the palm forest to get to the beach, and then you return.

Wonderful experience riding on the beach and through palm tree groves! Eliod, our guide, was fantastic. He spoke wonderful English and helped us spot sloths and monkeys on our ride. The horses are very well taken care of and easy to ride. A highlight of our trip!

It was amazing! The guides were very friendly, helpful, fun and the ride was beautiful and fun. The horses are beautiful and wonderful. They know what to do and where to go so you can just enjoy the ride and the views.
The guided brought us to the beach to watch the sunset and while we were there, they gave us bottle water and fresh pineapple and offered to take pictures of our group.
I thoroughly enjoyed the 2 hour ride and thought it was worth every penny. I highly recommend doing this while you are visiting Costa Rica…….you will regret it if you don’t.

This was one of the best rides I have ever done. The guides Tito, Elliot, and Gerardo really take you on a wonderful adventure. You ride thru the woods and end up at the beach in time to catch the sunset. You dismount and they give you ice cold bottled water and fresh pineapple. Then you mount up and they take pictures of you and your group. Truly a memorable experience!

This ride was Amazing, we went early moring, 7am. And it was already very hot. But the ride was fantastic, monkeys swinging over head, beautiful scenery, and a ride on the beach. Everything we wanted it to be. The only drawback worth mentioning, was the fact that the Viator listing said that they offered hotel pick up service, but when I messaged asking what time and telling them where we were staying, they messaged back to say that they do not offer a pick up service. That wasn’t a problem for us as we had a hire car. But could have been a problem for others who don’t.

Be on time! We were late and they made the exception of allowing us to join the group but I did have to fight for it! It was great experience and the tour guide was great.
