Tony was a great guide,...

Kim_V, Sep 2026
Tony was a great guide, very nice lunch. We watched rugs being made and stopped at an olive oil co operative

Response from Host, Oct 2026

Thank you very much, Kim! ❤️ We’re delighted you enjoyed your **Authentic Bodrum Village Life Experience** with Tony. The traditional rug weaving, local lunch and visit to the olive oil cooperative are exactly what make this tour special — it’s an opportunity to leave the busy tourist areas behind and discover another side of Bodrum through local people, traditions and everyday village life. We’ll be very happy to pass your kind words on to Tony! 😊 We have been welcoming visitors to Bodrum since 1990, and after more than 35 years, we still believe some of the best experiences are found beyond the beaches and resorts. Thank you for joining us, and we hope to show you even more of the **real Bodrum** on your next visit! 🇹🇷❤️

A good tour

Robert_E, Sep 2026
A very nice experience! Our guide Tony showed us his village and pointed out a lot about the local culture. We had a lovely lunch made by the local women and saw how they make rugs. There was a sales pitch for the rugs, fyi.

Response from Host, Sep 2026

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience! We are very pleased to hear that you enjoyed discovering Etrim Village with Tony, learning about the local culture, meeting the village women and enjoying the homemade lunch. We are also glad that seeing the traditional rug-making process added something special to your day. We would also like to clarify one point for future guests regarding the rug presentation you mentioned. **Yes, traditional handmade rugs and kilims are presented during this experience, and there is an opportunity to purchase them.** This is an intentional part of the experience because Turkish carpet weaving is not simply a demonstration — it is an important part of the village's culture and, for some local families, a genuine source of income. Our aim is to give guests the opportunity to understand what they are looking at: how the rugs are woven, the techniques used, the patterns, craftsmanship and the difference between a handmade Turkish carpet and a mass-produced product. **There is no obligation to purchase anything.** Guests who genuinely fall in love with a particular rug or kilim can choose to take home an authentic handmade piece with a direct connection to the village. For us, that makes the experience more meaningful than simply visiting a shop. You meet the people, see the weaving, learn about the tradition, enjoy a meal prepared by local women and, if you wish, have the opportunity to take a piece of that culture home with you. Since 1990, we have welcomed thousands of travelers to Bodrum, and introducing guests to the region's villages, traditions, food and craftsmanship has always been an important part of what we do. Thank you again for joining us and for sharing your honest feedback. We hope to welcome you back to Bodrum for another authentic experience — perhaps discovering another village, or enjoying a private day on the beautiful Aegean Sea. 🇹🇷💙

Friendly Welcoming and...

Andrey_O, Jul 2026
Friendly Welcoming and full of smiles experience. Does smell like the village so watch your steps. Amazing quality rugs.

Response from Host, Sep 2026

Thank you so much for your lovely review! We are delighted that you enjoyed the warm welcome, the smiles and the authentic atmosphere of village life. And yes… our village is definitely the real thing! 😊 The sights, sounds and even the smells are all part of experiencing a traditional Turkish village rather than a staged tourist attraction. We are also very happy that you appreciated the quality of the handmade rugs. Traditional carpet weaving is an important part of the village's culture and heritage, and it is wonderful to hear that you recognized the quality and craftsmanship. Thank you again for sharing your experience with future travelers. We look forward to welcoming our next guests and giving them the same warm hospitality, authentic experience and memorable day in the Turkish countryside.

Unique, off the beaten path experience!

MORGAN_B, Nov 2025
Quite the experience!! Our driver was a bit tough to find, but once we got together we were on our way. Overall a unique, family experience. Would recommend to others that are looking for an “off the beaten path” experience where you’re in the countryside away from it all. We felt very welcome and cared for the entire time.

Response from Host, Sep 2026

Thank you so much for sharing your experience! We’re delighted to hear that you and your family enjoyed this unique journey into the Bodrum countryside. Etrim is very different from the busy coastal resorts—it is a chance to get **off the beaten path and experience a more authentic side of Bodrum**, surrounded by nature, traditional village life and local people. We’re especially happy that you felt welcomed and cared for throughout the experience. For us, the heart of this tour is the personal connection: meeting local families, learning about village traditions, seeing the traditional carpet-weaving process and enjoying genuine Turkish village hospitality and food. And if you discover a handmade carpet, kilim or another local craft that you truly love, you can also take home a **genuine piece of Turkish craftsmanship**—a meaningful souvenir with a story behind it, rather than something made simply for tourists. For travelers looking for something beyond the usual beaches and sightseeing, Etrim offers a memorable opportunity to slow down, meet local people and discover the Bodrum that most visitors never see. We would be delighted to welcome you and your family back to Bodrum for another authentic experience!

Lovely village

Angela_J, Jul 2025
Despite the sweltering heat, the experience was nothing short of delightful! We had the opportunity to explore a charming little village, where we savored a mouthwatering meal that was expertly prepared. The highlight, however, was witnessing the talented women of the town skillfully handcraft beautiful rugs, a true testament to their artistry and dedication.

Response from Host, Sep 2026

Thank you so much for your lovely review! We’re delighted that you enjoyed your visit to Etrim despite the summer heat! 😊 It means a lot to us that you appreciated the charm of the village, the delicious homemade meal and, most importantly, the incredible craftsmanship of the local women. Watching these talented artisans handcraft traditional Turkish rugs is truly a special experience. Each piece represents hours of patience, skill and generations of weaving tradition. It is something you simply cannot appreciate in the same way by looking at a rug in a shop—you see the people, the technique and the story behind the craftsmanship. And for guests who discover a rug or kilim they truly love, there is also the opportunity to take home a **genuine handmade piece of Turkish craftsmanship**—a unique and meaningful memory of their time in Etrim. For future travelers looking to escape the busy tourist areas and experience something **authentic, local and off the beaten path**, Etrim is a wonderful way to discover the countryside, meet local people, enjoy traditional food and experience an important part of Turkish culture. Thank you again for recommending us! Please share your experience with your friends and family, and we would be delighted to welcome you back to Bodrum for one of our other private experiences. And perhaps next time, you’ll stay a little longer and join us for **a full week aboard one of our private gulets**, exploring the turquoise bays of the Turkish Aegean. ⛵💙 We hope to see you again in Bodrum! 🇹🇷

Cultural immersion

Vince_M, Jul 2025
This is a great way to see the landscape of Bodrum. You get a good idea of the topography as you get driven to the Turkish village. It’s a cultural immersion once you arrive. The guide walks you through the streets and you learn about their way of life. Lunch is delicious. Tour of their mosque was an unexpected bonus. Great trip.

Response from Host, Sep 2026

Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We are delighted that you enjoyed discovering a different side of Bodrum. Many visitors know Bodrum for its beautiful coastline, beaches and turquoise sea, but the countryside around Bodrum has a completely different character — and Etrim is one of the places where you can experience it in a truly authentic way. The drive into the countryside is part of the experience, giving you the chance to see the landscape and topography change as you leave the busy coastal areas behind. Once you arrive in the village, it becomes much more than sightseeing. Walking through the streets, meeting local people, learning about their daily lives and traditions, visiting the mosque, seeing traditional rug weaving and sharing a homemade Turkish lunch allow you to experience Bodrum through its people and culture. That is exactly what we aim to offer: not a standard tourist stop, but a genuine connection with local life. And if you are looking for a meaningful Turkish souvenir, the village is also a wonderful place to discover authentic handmade carpets and kilims created using traditional techniques. For travelers who want to see **the Bodrum beyond the beaches**, this is a beautiful experience to add to their holiday. We have been introducing guests to Bodrum and the Turkish Aegean since 1990, and experiences like this remain very special to us because they connect visitors with the traditions and people that make this region unique. Thank you again for recommending us. We hope to welcome you back to Bodrum for another authentic experience — and perhaps next time, to experience the Aegean from the sea with one of our private gulet cruises. ⛵💙 Warm regards, The Bodrum Tour Team

Fantastic tour. Would recommend everyone visiting Bodrum to have a tour around this beautiful village

hpervez, Jul 2025
Absolutely fantastic. Tony was our tour guide, and he was just brilliant at explaining all about the village and the history. The highlight of our trip was seeing how they make beautiful quality rugs. They served a wonderful dinner, coffee was divine. Would recommend this trip to anyone and everyone. Thank you.

Response from Host, Oct 2026

Dear Guest, **“The highlight of our trip”** — thank you! That is a wonderful compliment for a small Bodrum village. ❤️🇹🇷 We are delighted that you enjoyed your time with **Tony**, learning about the village and its history, and especially seeing how traditional Turkish rugs are actually made. We will make sure Tony hears your kind words. For us, this experience is special because it shows visitors a side of Bodrum that is easy to miss. Beyond the beaches, marinas and busy town centre, there are still villages where you can meet local people, enjoy traditional food and coffee, and see women practising the craft of **handmade Turkish carpet and kilim weaving**. And for guests who genuinely want to own a Turkish carpet, seeing the process here has another advantage: **you are much closer to the source.** Many handmade carpets eventually reach larger tourist retail centres in **Bodrum, Kuşadası and Istanbul**. In the village, guests can see where and how these pieces are produced and, if they wish, have the opportunity to purchase much closer to the producers — often offering significantly better value than buying through major tourist retail locations. **There is absolutely no obligation to buy.** Come for the village, the people, the history, the food, the coffee and the experience. If you happen to fall in love with a particular rug, that's simply a bonus. 😊 For **cruise passengers visiting Bodrum**, this is also a wonderful alternative to a conventional city tour. We can collect you directly from the cruise port, take you privately into the countryside and plan the timing around your ship's schedule. Thank you again for recommending the experience to “anyone and everyone.” **If you're visiting Bodrum, enjoy the sea and the town — but save a few hours to discover the real local life behind them.** Warm regards, **Bodrum Tour / Onelli Travel**

Village life and rugs for sale

Barbara_C, Jun 2025
A great tour of local village life. Pick up was on time with nice car. Tony shared with us the everyday life of their community. Living off the land. Growing and processing the wheat, vegetables and raising cattle and chicken. Visited the mosque . Learned how the yarns are dyed and made into Turkish rugs . Wonderful lunch and good homemade wine.

Response from Host, Oct 2026

Dear Barbara, Thank you for such a lovely description of the day — and thank you for mentioning **Tony**. ❤️ What you experienced is exactly what we want this tour to be: **not a staged tourist village, but an introduction to a real community and the way people still live in the countryside around Bodrum.** You saw where the food comes from, how wheat and vegetables are grown and processed, how families raise their animals, visited the local mosque, shared a traditional meal and even enjoyed some homemade wine. And then, of course, there are the carpets. Watching how the yarn is prepared and dyed before seeing how a **handmade Turkish carpet** is actually woven gives you a completely different understanding of what you are looking at. For guests who genuinely want to buy a Turkish rug or kilim, this is also an opportunity to get **much closer to the source**. Many handmade carpets that eventually reach shops in tourist centres such as **Bodrum, Kuşadası or Istanbul** begin their journey in weaving villages and regional producers like these. Buying closer to where the carpets are produced can therefore mean significantly better value than buying after several layers of retail have been added. And we want to make one thing very clear: **You do not have to buy a carpet.** Come because you want to meet the people, understand the village, taste the food and see how this traditional craft survives. If you happen to see a carpet you genuinely love, then you have the opportunity to discuss buying it much closer to the people who made it. For **cruise passengers visiting Bodrum**, this is one of our favourite alternatives to spending the whole day around the port and tourist centre. We can collect you privately from your ship, take you into the countryside and plan the programme around your ship's departure time. Thank you again, Barbara. **Bodrum is famous for its sea. But sometimes the best way to understand Bodrum is to leave the coastline behind for a few hours and meet the people who live here.** 🇹🇷 Warm regards, **Bodrum Tour / Onelli Travel**

Village tour

Judith_G, Jun 2025
This experience was so great! We visited the village , picked up in a beautiful van with water. Village tour was incredible and learned about the culture and their way of living, included was a delicious lunch. Our tour guide Tony was excellent, very welcoming and informative. Highly recommend this tour!

Response from Host, Sep 2026

Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re delighted that you enjoyed discovering authentic village life in Bodrum and appreciated the comfortable private transfer, delicious local lunch and fascinating insights into Turkish culture and traditions. We’ll be sure to share your kind words with Tony—his warm and informative approach is a big part of what makes this experience special. Since 1990, we’ve loved showing our guests the Bodrum beyond the beaches, where local life, food and traditional craftsmanship are still very much alive. We hope to welcome you back to Bodrum for another authentic experience—and perhaps next time, a private gulet cruise along our beautiful coast! 🌊

I had a great day, with...

IlonaHelen_D, May 2025
I had a great day, with my private tour guide, Engin, who's a local guide. I learnt a lot about everyday life by local people. Engin is very experienced, friendly, and very professional. I was treated as one of the average villagers, in a small town of four hundred population. I recommend this tour to everyone.

Great experience

lily_E, May 2025
I had a great experience at the Tours, I got dropped off at the village and the people there are extremely nice and friendly, it was such a good experience away from the city, and the countryside is absolutely beautiful. The food was amazing. 🩷👍🏻

Response from Host, Oct 2026

Dear Lily, Thank you so much for your lovely review! 🩷 We're delighted that you enjoyed getting **away from the city and into the beautiful Bodrum countryside**. That's one of the things we love most about this experience. Bodrum is famous for its beaches, yachts and lively town centre, but drive a little way into the countryside and you discover a completely different world — small villages, beautiful landscapes, homemade food and incredibly welcoming local people. And we're very happy to hear that the food earned an **“amazing”** too! 😊 This experience is less about conventional sightseeing and more about slowing down for a few hours and seeing **how local people actually live**. For visitors arriving in Bodrum by **cruise ship**, it's also a wonderful way to spend your day ashore if you'd like to see something beyond the port. We can arrange private pickup and return around your ship's schedule, giving you time to experience the countryside without worrying about getting back. Thank you again, Lily. ❤️ **Sometimes one of the best things to do in Bodrum is to leave Bodrum behind for a few hours.** The countryside, the food and the people will take care of the rest. 🇹🇷 Warm regards, **Bodrum Tour / Onelli Travel**

Simple and Great!

Unexpected private tour of a traditional village with a great lunch

amyarizona, Oct 2024
Our guide spoke very good English. There was supposed to be another couple but unexpectedly we had a private your. We drove in a lovely vehicle to a quiet old fashioned village- such a treat after so much tourism in Bodrum. We saw a small village mosques. A tug weaving demonstration, and de died to buy a carpet.no pressure, good price. The lunch was terrific- about arose. Small dishes of salads and breads and chicken and beverages in surprisingly good local wines. They dropped us off at the castle and we toured the archeological museum and walked back to the ship. One if the best days on our cruise.

Respectful and genuine

Manpreet_D, Oct 2024
One of the best tours I have done. The family/staff were lovely. There was a genuine care to support the work of the women in the village and ensure the guests are treated with respect. The food was so tasty. Yes, there is a sales aspect but it is their livelihood. It wasn’t pushy or uncomfortable

Off the Beaten Path

Rob_Z, Aug 2024
Wonderful driver in a beautiful van to the village. This was an off the beaten path way to see a beautiful village, including the animals, a visit inside a local house where they showed such hospitality, how they make carpets, with a delicious Turkish meal following. There was a sales pitch for the carpets at the end, but they were not overly aggressive and very gracious when we decided not to buy anything (though I was very tempted to).

A Hawaii-Turkey connection

David_W, Apr 2024
Traveling to a village, touring it with someone familiar with the family and meeting the family members ..three generations..in the old home, in their business and at the lunch table was unique. The vast differences between our cultures were obvious, though the shared company and appreciation for individuals’ talents bonded us well.

Loved this tour

Sharon_E, Nov 2023
The drive to the village was about 30+ minutes and on a narrow road with hairpin turns. But the village was wonderful. Watching a lady make carpets and the lunch includes was great!!!

Response from Host, Jan 2024

hi, thanks for your review for us on tripadvisor. see you next year in bodrum again with your family and friends..

Unique Alternative to Shopping but Modest

Thomas_T, Oct 2023
The operator was overbooked and overwhelmed. The driver guide did not speak English and, therefore, said nothing on entire 40 minute ride to the village. Others with similar private tours said their drivers pointed out highlights along the route. Village guide also inexperienced. Very nice and earnest, but not well prepared. We partially overheard other groups that were given much more depth and information. Overall mediocre.

Response from Host, Jan 2024

hi, thanks for your review for us on tripadvisor. see you next year on our other trips in bodrum best wishes

Bodrum Village Tour should not be Missed

John_D, Oct 2023
This was a private tour at group tour rates. We were picked up at the port and drove about 35 minutes to the village. If you want to experience what life is like in a Turkish rural village and enjoy great food, this tour should not be missed. Our personal guide showed how people still live today in a village of 400 people that has been there for many generations. Walking through the village and visiting in their homes was something you do not want to miss. The lunch was included for the reasonable price and was a selection of 9 different dishes and all were great with two different breads. There was a rug demonstration but no pressure to purchase. We cannot say enough good things about this activity and we were very pleased and I know you will be too.

Private Bodrum Village Tour

Sean_M, Jul 2023
The Private Bodrum Village Tour was phenomenal. I highly recommend to anyone interested in an authentic experience. This tour offered an opportunity to witness traditional rugmaking first hand, enjoy a Turkish meal (very tasty) and visit a local Bodrum village. The tour hosts were extremely friendly and hospitable. Well worth every penny.

Etrim Village Tour

Glenda, Oct 2022
The Village and the life within the Village was lovely. The people were warm and welcoming. The provided lunch was “over the top, delicious.” If you should have any reservations of learning about the intricate details inside a mosque or viewing Turkish rugs to “buy” then you should say so in the beginning of this tour. The opportunity to meet the eldest (89 years young) woman in the Village, of 400 people, who graciously opened her home to us was an unexpected BONUS.

Great Village Tour- Felt Like a Local
