⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The Perfect Zanzibar Day Tour – Spice Farm, Prison Island & Stone Town!
We had an absolutely fantastic day on this tour—it truly packed in the very best of Zanzibar in one seamless experience. Booking through Viator was easy, and the tour was well organized from start to finish. Our first stop was the Tangawizi Spice Farm, and what a sensory experience! They explained how the spices and fruits are used to heal the body, and we were able to taste the fruit—it was delicious! We saw, smelled, and tasted cloves, vanilla, nutmeg, ginger, pepper, cinnamon, turmeric, and lemongrass, and learned about their traditional and medicinal uses. The traditional coconut climber demonstration was a highlight not to be missed. Next we went to Prison Island, reached by a scenic 30-minute boat ride from Stone Town. Seeing the 100-year-old Aldabra giant tortoises in their natural habitat was magical, and the island's history—including the 1893 prison ruins—was captivating. Our last stop was Stone Town, the UNESCO World Heritage site at the heart of Zanzibar's history. Walking through its colorful streets, the buildings were explained to us—including the former slave market, the local market, the old Arab fort, the House of Wonders, and the Freddy Mercury House—and we admired the stunning Swahili, Arab, Indian, and British-style doors. Our guide's knowledge gave us a much deeper understanding of Zanzibar's past. We also found a great place to eat for lunch, which was the perfect end to the day. The tour was perfectly paced, excellent value with admissions included, and one we'll never forget. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Zanzibar!

Such a good excursion!...
Such a good excursion! The guides try so hard to make sure you get good views and videos and enough swimming time with the dolphins etc. We had so many opportunities. Ludo and Rashid were our guides and were amazing! They knew the good spots for snorkelling and again they were so good at getting videos.

Great day
Picked up ontime and then taken for the safety briefing. Everyone had to listen to demonstrate they knew the controls so its all safe. Some people didn't listen to instructions and got told off. Taken on a drive, a bit of road driving and a bit of off roading. Very bumpy and rocky tracks but was really fun. Stopped at a beach and had a walk for half an hour. Carried on to a little village and all the kids waved at us and then stopped for a look around. You can take sweets or toys for the kids if you like but you will get mobbed! Carried on to another beach where snacks and fruit were given. Had a really nice trip thanks.

The best part of my trip
This was truly one of the most amazing experiences of my life! Our driver, Solomon, and our guide, Wilson, were absolutely incredible. They were knowledgeable, attentive, considerate, and worked so hard to make sure everyone was comfortable, safe, and having a great time throughout the entire experience. We were fortunate enough to see 3 of the “Big 5,” and Solomon and Wilson went above and beyond to make sure we had the best possible opportunities to see the animals up close and capture amazing photos. They were patient, observant, and clearly passionate about what they do. Their knowledge of the animals and the area made the experience even more special. I truly felt like we were in great hands from beginning to end. I’m so grateful for the memories, the incredible sights, and the beautiful photographs I was able to take home with me. I would absolutely recommend this experience—and especially Solomon and Wilson—to anyone looking for an unforgettable safari adventure!

While Tanzania’s sweeping Serengeti plains and towering Mount Kilimanjaro get a lot of attention, you don’t want to miss the country’s tropical islands. Zanzibar tours acquaint you with the multicultural influences and intricate carved doors of Stone Town, the main island’s old trading hub that’s still full of antique shops and bazaars. The archipelago’s smaller islands are ideal for snorkeling among dolphins and spotting giant Aldabra tortoises, while the countryside is home to spice farms and indigenous Swahili culture. If you’re up for a short flight, many Zanzibar tours go to mainland Tanzania for safaris.
