Admission to the Jindai Botanical Gardens costs ¥500 for adults, ¥250 for over-65s, and ¥200 for junior high school students who live outside Tokyo. Admission is free for junior high school students from within Tokyo, and for younger kids. Groups belonging to all age brackets get discounted admission.

Jindai Botanical Gardens are open Tuesday–Sunday, unless a public holiday falls on a Monday, in which case it closes the following day. The gardens open at 9:30am. The park’s main section closes at 4pm, while the large greenhouse and aquatic botanical gardens close at 4:30pm. The gardens close for the New Year holidays

The Jindai Botanical Gardens are in Chofu, western Tokyo. It’s easiest to drive there from central Tokyo: head west along the Chuo Expressway (E20). The nearest railway station is Chofu Station, on the Keio Line. This is about 1.5 miles (2.5 kilometers) south of the gardens, so a 30-minute walk.

The Jindai Botanical Gardens contain many varieties of plants and flowers that look best at different times of year. Whichever season you visit, you’ll see something interesting and attractive. Some highlights include cherry blossoms and azaleas in spring, hydrangeas and lilies in summer, maple leaves in fall, and camellias in winter.

The café in Jindai Botanical Gardens is beside the azalea gardens. Several eateries are in the area surrounding the park, which mainly serve typical Japanese fare. The gardens are located in a part of western Tokyo that foreign tourists seldom visit, so you won’t find the same variety of food here as in the centre.
