This tour is between 7 and 8 hours long. The wineries are about a 1 hour drive from Houston. During this hour of commute, we will see the terrain geography change. We will leave the urban cement and buildings for rolling meadows, horses and cows grazing, and small country homes, farms, and barns. You may also see more pine trees than in Houston. We will pass by small villages and towns.

Galveston was the largest city in Texas in 1870 and 1880 and was the wealthiest city as well until the 1900 Great Storm. The Great Storm was a monster hurricane that killed at least 6,000 people on September 8th. More people died in this Galveston hurricane than ALL other hurricanes that have hit the mainland US in history. On the return trip, we can show you the documentary Isaac's Storm from the History Channel. This will be fun-filled, entertaining and educational tour of a once great city that is still a fun place to vacation.

You will have many visual stimuli as we drive through a portion of the south Texas dessert with mesquite trees, and gravel replacing grass. We will drive through the wetlands surrounding CC and then into the subtropical Corpus. We will pass hundreds of windmills as we approach the coastal CC. Corpus Christi is almost always more windy, humid, and a few degrees warmer than Houston. Dress appropriately. Your van has a drop down movie screen.
