Wonderful Day Trip

We had a fantastic tour and despite early rain the sun came out and we had the most glorious weather. The green mussels were to die for and the salmon was the best we have ever had. Would definitely recommend doing this excursion when in Picton. One of the highlights of our trip so far.

Our guide Darlene was very knowledgeable and spent time explaining the about the region, growing and harvesting process along with how wines were made etc. We went to 5 local wineries which were all fantastic and had a great lunch an St Clair. Would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the Marlborough region.

Great guide, wineries and wines.

Our guide, Gavin, was friendly, fun and knowledgeable. The four vineyard we went to were relatively small and family-owned. Each of the hosts were knowledgeable but not at all pretentious. We tried at least 16 wines and brought back bottles of our favourites, at very reasonable prices. There was no pressure to buy, the wines sold themselves.

If you’re remotely into wine and want a taste of the best of New Zealand, you’re in the right place! Our guide Amanda was very knowledgeable, friendly and funny. Unlike some other wine tours, you don’t get food pairings with your tastings though. As a family, we had a lot of fun, great conversations, learnt about winemaking and made new friends with other people on the tour.

If you plan to visit the Marlborough District in summer, book accommodation (including campsites) and ferries (if necessary) far in advance.
Stop by the wineries on a hop-on hop-off bus tour, so you won’t have to drive.
Some roads through the Marlborough Sounds are rough and suffer from landslides during heavy rain. Check local conditions before heading out.
