All Santarem Tours & Excursions in 2026

Western Pará is famous for being considered the heart of the Amazon. In this region is the historic city of Santarém, poetically known as the Pearl of Tapajós. It considers a city a starting point for discoveries, such as the most beautiful freshwater beaches in the world, in Vila de Alter do Chão. From there, we'll cross by canoe and follow a trail that can only be accessed on foot or by bicycle. On the way, there is the possibility of contemplating birds and trees typical of the Amazon, smelling the white pitch, finding fruit trees from the region and taking an invigorating bath in the Tapajós River or in the lakes of Tapari and Lago Preto.

Discover the Tapajós National Forest and learn about the rich diversity of the Amazon. Visit multiple beaches along the Amazon River and learn about the region’s history with rubber. Head to Jamaraqua and observe the animals that live in the crystal-clear waters and enjoy an authentic Amazonian lunch, made with local ingredients, on this full-day tour from Santarem.

Departure at 08:00 and return at 16:00. No one comes to Santarém without knowing Alter do Chão, considered one of the most beautiful beaches in the entire Northern region of Brazil. It is a small village located southwest of Santarém, near the beautiful beaches of the Tapajós River and Green Lake. The distance that separates Santarém from Alter, is approximately 35 km. Access by paved road. Arriving in Alter from the ground we will walk through the village, visit the handicraft shops and contact with the villagers. We recommend wearing light clothing, bathing suit and sunscreen. Free time for bathing in the Tapajós river. On this tour is included mineral water.

Heighten your chances of spotting a wide range of Amazonian flora and fauna on a 4-day sightseeing cruise. You’ll delve deeper into the culture of local communities and explore at a more relaxed pace than you would on a day trip, without having to worry abut planning activities and transfers.
