This is a great tour for those who only want to spend a half-day out or are short on time. We visit two areas on this trip, Daintree River and Mossman Gorge. We begin with a drive along the Captain Cook Highway, on the way to the Daintree River, and share a little history along the way. Here, we board a cruise along the Daintree River, looking out for local wildlife, including the estuarine crocodile, snakes, birds, frogs, and more. After the Wildlife Cruise, we enjoy morning tea with Lamingtons and tea/coffee. Once in Mossman Gorge National Park, we conduct an interpretive walk along an elevated boardwalk. Move over, every other boat trip, because ABC Reef Safaris just ruined all future vacations for us! Calling this a "snorkeling tour" feels like an understatement—it was more like a VIP backstage pass to the Great Barrier Reef. With only about 20 of us on board, the crew didn't just herd us into the water; they basically gave us a bespoke underwater experience. The real flex? Our 6-person groups were guided by a squad of dive masters and actual, real-life marine biologists. We weren't just splashing around; we were getting an elite-tier private tour of once-in-a-lifetime ocean real estate. The captains and crew were absolute legends—attentive, wildly knowledgeable, and apparently obsessed with cleanliness. The boat was in pristine, sparkling condition, and the gear was so immaculate I’m convinced it was unwrapped just for us. The food was delicious and the conversation a very witty light hearted banter. If the universe ever aligns to bring us back to Port Douglas, there is zero competition. It’s ABC or nothing! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

An Intimate and Educational Outer Reef Adventure

Our day trip to the outer reef with Sailaway was an absolutely incredible experience. We really appreciated the smaller group size, which made the entire day feel so much more intimate and personalized than a standard commercial tour. The snorkeling was phenomenal, and we were thrilled to see such amazing marine wildlife. What truly elevated the trip, though, was the crew. They are incredibly knowledgeable and took the time to explain the marine life, giving us a much deeper appreciation and understanding of what we were looking at and how the Great Barrier Reef fits into the greater ecosystem. A huge shoutout to Mickey, Erin, and Pippa, who went above and beyond to make the trip so memorable for us. We highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for a top-tier, educational reef adventure!

I rarely take the time to...

I rarely take the time to leave a review but I had such a great experience on this tour! I swear we had the best boat and guide on the water- wasn’t too crowded, took extra time to see birds and snakes as well as the crocodiles and I learned a lot! I highly recommend going with Solar Whisper!

Great activity for everyone!

The boat out to the low isles is quick but very rough when it’s windy, I would suggest packing seasickness medication just in case! Then, you get on a glass bottom boat to go to the low isle! The boat is very pretty and the low isle is even better! We liked that we had the freedom to snorkel on our own or join a tour on land or water! It was flexible and chill and that gave us the chance to find a sea turtle! I would recommend this to anyone but still also do an outer reef booking as well because they are very different!

Top of the Crocs.

A short informative trip out on the Daintree River with knowledgeable Graham as our guide. Gave an interesting commentary about the River Hibiscus and then took us further down to seek out some crocodiles. We were lucky enough to float alongside the dominant male, known as Scarface, we then saw his future rival and a couple of younger babies.

Excellent tour. Not too...

Excellent tour. Not too long getting to the destination and actually sailing was a joy. Staff and the Skipper Liam could not do any more to make our trip enjoyable. Fantastic lunch and we seen so much when snorkeling. Glass bottom boat available for those who choose not to snorkel. Highly recommend.

Exceptional Day Out

We were two couples in 50s. Some had snorkelled elsewhere recently and some not/never. Our experience was exceptional from booking to pre-sail advice about what to take, to leaving on time, to just a truly memorable day. Three sites were different but by far our favorite was the second snorkel site of Turtle Island. Vibrant coral and wide variety of fish. 🐠 Personally I thought better than Fiji islands. The crew were friendly and slick. Everything ran like clockwork and instructions were clear and timely. The buffet lunch was yummy and plentiful, as were the snacks/tea/coffee. Liked the fact there were only 80 people on the SilverSonic and that no ladders were required for getting out of the water. . The unexpected Manta Ray show on the way back to PD just topped off a wonderful day. Well done to the entire SS team.

Another amazing tour with Sailaway!!

The trip to the Low Isles for snorkeling and then the sunset return was amazing. We saw sharks, turtles, clown fish and more. Taylah, Dylan and Milan were an amazing team - caring for our safety and also ensuring we had a wonderful time - beyond the sailing and the reef, the food and drinks and hospitality were on full display. A great way to spend an afternoon

The catamaran ventures from the harbour and then sails in whichever direction the wind takes you. Drinks and canapes are served whilst underway which makes for a very enjoyable experience. The forward area of the boat has seating areas and two over water trampolines if you want to get closer to the waves. The captain and crew are all very professional and easy going. We really enjoyed the sunset cruise experience

Suitable for any age

We enjoyed this experience, we’ve done the outer reef before having children which is also beautiful but we found this experience really suitable to take our one year old. The crew were great, nice food and the environment was nice and relaxed. We were a bit worried what it would be like out on the island but there were shaded areas and swimming in the shallows off the island was good for the little one.
