Cruise a unique river in the heart of the world’s first designated wine region and UNESCO World Heritage Site. We depart from Pinhão, passing under the iconic iron bridge designed by Gustavo Eiffel, following river up to the Tua area and then returning to the starting point. Along the way, admire the vineyards that descend to the river, in a preserved landscape, without national roads or road traffic. Although the return is the same, the opposite perspective reveals new angles and frames. The traditional rabello boats have open and covered areas, ensuring comfort at any time of year. To enrich the experience, use our free app “Magnífico Douro – Paseos de Barco”, with geolocalized comments on the farms, the wine and the river. Bring earphones for greater convenience.

This tour emphasizes two of the Douro Valley wine-producing villages for visitors to this UNESCO World Heritage region: Favaios and Provesende. We will visit them! Among the Douro wine villages, you’ll find the remains of Romanesque churches, 17th century palaces; traditions and handicrafts and well-established wine estates (quintas). Plus some incredible scenery. Favaios is known for its fortified moscatel wine, which is lighter and often more refreshing than port wine and it's also known due to their traditional bakeries. The village of Provesende itself has a surprising number of grand manor houses decorated with stone coats of arms. Between these two villages we will visit a wine producer and will taste his wines with a typical meat cake. Olive oil tastings will be also included! And, of course, Port wine with cinnamon cake. Breathtaking views will follow us all day!

We pick you up at the heart of the Douro Valley wine region and take you to have a typical meal at your guide's house. Then we have a scenic drive to Côa Valley. The Côa Valley is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, recognized for its unique importance in understanding the origins of human art. The night visit aims to create the optimal conditions for fully appreciating the beauty of the Paleolithic art of the Côa Valley. Easy and safe access to the accessible rock panels at the Penascosa site, combined with the tranquil, serene atmosphere of this riverside setting, makes this the ideal location for this unique type of visit. Full-moon nights are especially magical—particularly during the warm evenings common in the Côa region from spring through autumn—as the moonlight reveals the river and the silhouettes of the surrounding hills against the landscape.
