What are people saying about Oaxaca

This was an outstanding...
This was an outstanding experience. Armando was our guide and he was fantastic! Having the private tour and ability to customize what you do/don't want to see to optimize your time is so worth it. Having done a big group tour in CDMX a few days before this...the private tour was soooo much better. You can go at your own pace and not feel like you're wasting any time. If I'm ever back in Oaxaca, I would 100% book another tour with this group. Nice car, great flexibility, and well chosen stops at each location. Seeing the surrounding small towns and meeting multi-generation families that are preserving their local craft is what makes visiting Oaxaca feel so special. One thing to know in advance is not all stops shown on the website are possible to do in one day. Certain stops are geographically too far apart, and the stops essentially split up into two regions you can choose from (south vs east). So for example we were able to do everything we wanted to do in the southern region (Monte Alban, San Martin Tilcajete, San Bartolo Coyotepec, etc), but would have had to do a second day of touring to see what we wanted in the eastern region (Mitla, Hierve el Agua, Tule Tree, Teotitlan del Valle). The two Mezcal options are so there is one per region (south: Santa Catarina Minas; east: Santiago Matatlan). So it's customizable within limits based on which of the two regions you want to dedicate your day to (Monte Alban could go into either since it's close to the city). If I had realized this in advance, I still would have booked this tour, but would have booked/allocated two days with them instead of one.

Great experience with...
Great experience with Fernando! Ahead of the pick up he was communicative via I text and even arrived early for our pick up for the half day tour. Fernando’s English was excellent and gave us an in-depth tour of Monte Alban and answered all the many questions we had about the site and more. I’d definitely recommend him for future tours. Also, remember to wear sunscreen!

Even more awesome than expected
More interesting and extensive than i expected. Hope you get Miguel as your guide since he was highly informative on history and culture— important. Suggest going to room III of the Oaxaca Museo de las Culturas beforehand. Ascending pyramids not difficult due to wide steps.

Learning Alebrijes from the Family Who Lives the Tradition
We had such a wonderful morning with the Jimenez family. If you spend any time in Oaxaca or know the history of alebrijes, you quickly realize you’re learning from the descendants of the original artists who helped shape this incredible art form. What impressed us most is that they don’t gatekeep the tradition, they generously share its history, teach the techniques, and encourage everyone to create something uniquely their own. Our kids were completely engaged from start to finish, and watching them paint while learning about the cultural significance behind the art made the experience even more meaningful. Cesar was an excellent host and translator, making everyone feel welcome and ensuring nothing was lost in translation. He brought us water, drinks and a light snack. Coordination was very easy. Just 30 minutes from Oaxaca City, this is a relaxing and memorable way to spend a few hours. We left with beautiful pieces we painted ourselves, a much deeper appreciation for alebrijes, and memories we’ll keep for years. Highly recommended.
