The Saf Safari Oasis is about 45km to the northwest of Merzouga by track. The track will take us through the hamada (black, stony and arid desert), rivers of sand, dry rivers (depending on the time of year they will have more or less water) and mountainous tracks of stone and rock. We will cross extensive esplanades where nomadic settlements abound, with vegetation from the African savannah, fields of acacias and small scrub.
