Top Hermanus Walking Tours

An excursion with experienced Tour Guide, Dave de Beer, alternatively our experienced field guide, both of whom have fascinating knowledge & experience of the area. Fernkloof Nature Reserve is teaming with fauna & flora, all of which makes the Reserve a hive of animal & bird activity. If you're eager to see views that will leave you breathless & know more about this beautiful part of the Overberg, we look forward to hosting your group.

As a photographer and Tour Guide based in Hermanus for approximately 20 years, I am passionate about the Whales, Birds & Nature. There are seabirds, shorebirds, coastal scrub birds, water birds and mountain fynbos to experience within the Overberg. You don't need to be an avid birder, beginners & nature lovers are left thoroughly impressed by the splendour of our area, and I often have guests return for a second tour because there is simply too much to take in all in one trip. I look forward to meeting you, sharing stories and finding those birds you're searching for.

Maximize your chances of seeing whales with this boat tour from Hermanus. Learn about the magnificent mammals from a whale specialist as you head out onto the water. Depending on the time of year keep an eye out for humpback, Bryde's, and southern right whales, as well as dolphins and seals.

Instead of having to get out on the water, this land-based whale-watching tour is a peaceful and personalized alternative to crowded boat trips. Travel with a guide in a private vehicle to 5–7 different spots, and walk along paved coastal walkways to explore hidden coves and inlets where whales have been spotted before. As an extra perk, the trip also includes a visit to The Whale House Museum.

Join me atop the ancient cliffs and embark on a 2 hour sensory voyage along the cliffs of Hermanus and hear the stories of how man came to live and thrive here, from stone age (cradle of consciousness) through the colonial times to modern day living. Trace the footsteps of early minds—where art, language, and medicine were born—and feel the echoes of the past come alive.
