It was a great tour. We saw a lot of Zürich and outskirts. Gonzalo was an excellent guide and Victoria a wonderful bus driver.

Unfortunately, we found the whole experience very underwhelming and poorly organised from start to finish.
The tour began with being told, as soon as we boarded the coach, that we wouldn’t have access to bathrooms again for another three hours — not exactly the best start to a long day trip.
The coach tour around the city was disappointing, mainly because much of the commentary focused on buildings and landmarks we either couldn’t properly see or simply drove past too quickly. The roadworks in the city centre certainly didn’t help, although I appreciate that part wasn’t the tour company’s fault. We then stopped briefly for photos of the fountain in the lake, which felt more like filler than a meaningful stop.
The walking tour around the square in Zurich was equally disappointing. We could barely hear the guide for most of it, and the information itself wasn’t particularly engaging or memorable.
After that, there was another 20–30 minute coach journey simply to board a ferry that transported the coach across the lake for around 10 minutes. The scenery was beautiful, but the experience ended almost as soon as it began and didn’t really justify the additional travel time.
The most frustrating part of the day was the mountain stop. By the time we reached the cable car, we were told we had to leave the restaurant at the top by 4:25pm — despite it already being around 3:47pm. After waiting in line, squeezing into the cable car, walking to the restaurant, queueing to order food, and then waiting for it to arrive, we were left with barely 10 minutes to eat and use the toilets before rushing back down again.
Overall, the entire trip felt extremely rushed, badly timed, and lacking in organisation. Far too much time was spent travelling between very short stops, and not nearly enough time was given to actually enjoy any of the experiences.
Personally, I would have preferred not to spend so much time travelling out to the ferry crossing, even though the views were beautiful. A shorter boat experience closer to the city centre would have made far more sense and would have allowed visitors more time on the mountain without feeling constantly rushed.
What should have been a relaxing and scenic day ended up feeling stressful and disappointing.

The tour was wonderful. Featured a balance of city and nature which my husband and 8-year old daughter really enjoyed. We especially liked that the tour wasn’t long and tedious - I think it did the trick to adjusting us to the time change after having just arrived in Zurich.
Robert_M, May 2026
It’s okay, but not my favorite tour in Zurich. The highlight was the gondola ride and the restaurant at the top. The view was amazing from the patio of the restaurant.
Josephine_R, May 2026
This tour gave a good overall sightseeing experience of Zurich. I found the commentary by the guide was a little too much towards the political side of Zurich & Swizerland rather than the interesting history of Zurich, which some other tour operators focus on.
Alan_H, May 2026
Nice trip through the city and Felsenegg was a lovely site. The ferry ride was a nice treat. Our guide Adela was wonderful
David_W, May 2026
We got a nice overview of Zürich with interesting facts from our guide Elisabeth. It was well organized and included everything shown on their website. I can recommend this tour.
Eban_B, May 2026
Ferry ride 10 mins seemed too rushed. You really have 5 mins on the ferry.
Most of the tour on the bus. Not that exciting. Would avoid a tour like this in the future.
The guide was great. But tour was pretty bland
Response from Host, May 2026
Dear Eban,
Thank you for joining our Best of Zurich Tour with Felsenegg Cable Car and Ferry Ride and for taking the time to share your feedback about your experience.
We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed the tour guide. At the same time, we regret to hear that the ferry ride felt too short. Please note that the Viator tour description specifies that the ferry crossing lasts approximately 10 minutes. We are sorry if this information went unnoticed and led to different expectations. For guests interested in a longer boat experience, we recommend our Zurich with Lake Cruise tour.
This tour combines a bus ride along the lake shore, through the financial district and past the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich), together with a guided walk through the Old Town and a visit to Mount Felsenegg. We regret that the combination of bus and walking did not fully meet your expectations.
We nevertheless hope that you were able to enjoy the charming corners of Zurich and the beautiful panoramic views from the summit of Felsenegg. We wish you a wonderful rest of your stay in Zurich.
Kind regards,
Magdalena from Best of Switzerland Tours

Luxury coach. Very informative guide. Lovely views. Unfortunately not the best weather but not much we can do about that. Overall a good tour
Shari_H, May 2026
Very well organized tour that covered not only the highlights of Zurich, but the history of Switzerland as well. Tour guides were very friendly, engaging and clearly enjoyed what they were doing. Well done!

This is a good guided half day tour! A quick way to learn about Zurich and its neighbor areas. Andrea was great as a guide!
MaryBlye_K, Apr 2026
This was a great tour. The scenery was stunning. Our guide Bernie went slowly and was extremely informative and interesting. It wasn’t rushed like some tours - we were able to relax and stroll and enjoy the afternoon.
Teri_S, Apr 2026
It was a great experience, unfortunately the traffic was terrible and everything was a little rushed
Linda_S, Apr 2026
Just sit back & relax - and listen!!!
Our tour guide, Alexander, was excellent covered everything extremely well that we had no questions!!
Tanita_P, Apr 2026
Really great tour. You don't spend a lot of time at each location but on a clear day the views from the bus are spectacular! Angela was one of the best guides I've ever had on an excursion. She didn't just stick to a script, she was able to answer unexpected questions with detailed knowledge.
My only issue was I wasn't aware of the extent or terrain of the walking. I am two months post-op from achilles surgery and the walk to and from the cable car was quite challenging, steep incline on pebbles. I made it but I was quite uncomfortable the next day.
Panchali_D, Apr 2026
It was well organized. The guide was informative. It gives an overall experience of Zurich- not in depth, but its a small city anyway.
Linda_G, Mar 2026
The guide and her colleague were knowledgeable and enthusiastic which made the tour very enjoyable. She explained what was happening and gave us background on different subjects which was very interesting. I would recommend to go on this if you have the opportunity.
Violeta_G, Mar 2026
We saw the main sights of Zurich (old town, universities, etc.), road a lake ferry and cogwheel train to Dolder for a great view. A nice stop at Lindt museum. Our guide Rafael was knowledgeable and it was amazing how he kept us on time.
Jacqueline_S, Mar 2026
Andrea was wonderful and very enthusiastic about her work and Zurich. She was very informative and helpful. I would be happy to have her again for another tour.

We were promised an English tour turned out to be a combination of English and Spanish. Furthermore, we expected more rocking and less us travels.
Response from Host, Apr 2026
Dear Allan,
Thank you very much for joining one of our city tours and for taking the time to share your feedback with us.
We are genuinely sorry to hear that the multilingual nature of the tour did not meet your expectations. As noted in our tour description, the tour is guided in both English and Spanish by a professional multilingual guide. We regret that this detail was overlooked, and we truly understand how it may have caused some discomfort.
We sincerely hope that, despite this, you were still able to enjoy the tour and the sights. We would love the opportunity to welcome you on another excursion in the future and provide you with a more seamless experience.
Best regards,
Clara from Best of Switzerland Tours

The guide and driver were highly skilled, very knowledgeable and an excellent team. The thing I did not consider is large coach tours can have passengers who affect your experience in a positive or negative way. Negatively in my case. Many wore heavy perfume to which I’m allergic. Some were talking loudly through the narration. That does not diminish the Tour Guide’s excellent abilities but I will never book a large group tour again.
Erin_P, Feb 2026
We did not get to go on the walking tour due to a parade. The ferry ride was as a bus ride in a ferry, not a relaxing ferry ride, as described. There was a lot of traffic and the tour guide would not let us off the bus. We spent most of the tour in traffic and ended the tour an hour early and barely saw anything. The only enjoyable part was the gondola ride. The tour guide was extremely rude.
Do not recommend.
Response from Host, Feb 2026
Dear Erin,
Thank you very much for choosing our Zurich & Surroundings city tour and for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We sincerely apologize that your experience did not meet your expectations.
As outlined when booking, the route of the tour may be amended due to external factors. On the day of your tour, the carnival parades were taking place, which led to the walking tour being replaced with a photo stop offering beautiful views of the city, where your guide provided a full explanation of the sights.
Additionally, we would like to clarify that, as stated in both the title of the tour and the description, the boat ride is indeed a ferry ride. We apologize if this was not clear enough and if you were expecting a longer lake cruise experience.
We are surprised to hear that you felt your tour guide was rude. According to her, there was a slight delay in departure, and during the tour, the group became quite lively with conversation, which made it challenging for her to provide her commentary. She politely asked for a little quiet so she could ensure that all guests could hear the information clearly. We apologize if her request came across in a way that was not intended and appreciate your understanding of the need to balance everyone's experience.
Regarding the traffic, the tour guide mentioned that the only delay was a brief 10-minute hold-up due to road closures, after which she took an alternate route to ensure you arrived on time. We understand that it can be frustrating when plans change unexpectedly, but you did arrive at the official end time. The tour’s official duration is 4.5 hours, which means a return time of 17:30. We are sorry if there was any confusion about this.
Lastly, regarding the drop-off request, we would like to clarify that the bus driver is required to follow traffic regulations and can only stop at designated stops, otherwise this could result in fines. We apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused and thank you for your understanding.
Nevertheless, we are happy to read that you enjoyed the cable car, and hope to have the opportunity of welcoming you on another tour in the future, perhaps one that aligns better with your expectations.
Best regards,
Clara from Best of Switzerland Tours

The experience was exactly as described and a very good way to see Zurich (especially in the winter) The bus ride made seeing the city comfortable and the 30 min walking tours were just right. Weather played a role when we went up the Felsegg lift as it was too cloudy to see the mountains but the area is nice and food good in the lodge at the top of the lift.
