Overview

Immerse yourself in Balinese culture through the island's culinary delights during this experience. You'll start with a trip to the local market to pick up ingredients followed by a cooking class where you'll learn all about how to make Balinese spice paste, a main base ingredient for many local dishes. You'll then get the chance to make nine dishes in total and sample your creations before heading back to your hotel.

Authentic and Unforgettable Balinese Cooking Class Experience

My husband and I attended the afternoon session at Subak Cooking Class. Although we couldn’t join the morning class due to our itinerary, and thus missed the market tour, it was still a wonderful experience! Staying in the Ubud area, our host made things very easy by picking us up near Ubud Palace. We drove to their beautiful family compound, where we were greeted with warm hospitality and a refreshing homemade sweet tea. We were given clear instructions and an overview of the dishes we would be making, along with the necessary ingredients. The class was a delightful experience; we had a great time, met some wonderful people, and immersed ourselves in the traditions of Bali. It was a fantastic afternoon. We highly recommend this class if you’re looking for an authentic Bali experience that you will remember and cherish for the rest of your life! They even provide you with the recipes for each dish, so you can recreate your favorite Balinese dishes anywhere and always remember your time in Bali. Special shoutout out to Tata, who transported us to the experience and the ladies of the house that cleaned the pans in between dishes and set up the wonderful display of ingredients. Our cooking instructor, Ketut Suartika, was patient and helpful!

So glad we booked this - all that I wanted to see, do and learn in a fun four hours cooking class. Meeting travelers from many different countries, having fun cooking and sharing stories over dinner too. An expert showing you how it was done, keeping everyone on track whilst the ladies in the background cleaned up the mess! Defiantly another highlight of our trip. Yummy food, thumbs up all round!

We had a great time at this class! Enjoyed cooking and trying 9 different dishes, you learn about the ingredients at the beginning then cook each dish one by one trying them as you go, then sit down for one big meal at the end. Would reccomend

We’ve spent a really great afternoon and definitely would recommend it !!! Our chef was super nice, explaining everything with passion. We made 9 dishes but it went quite fast as the basic preparation was done (meat pre cook, cut the vegetables…) so even more pleasant :) super yummy we could even bring food back home. Loved it !

Had a lovely day at this family run business. Hotel pick up was prompt. We were taken to the local market which was a great experience and learnt about the ingredients we would be using. We were then taken to their lovely family home. Great service and cooked some delicious dishes. It was a very small group and so felt much more personal than other cooking classes I have done.
