The private tour was conducted in the morning, unlike the sunset trip earlier, this was about exploring the village from the river side, walking below stilt homes, taking to people doing their daily chores, having to see crocodiles in floating restaurant, seeing the mangroves up close and talking to boatmen. Excellent guide and overall experience

Tom was a fantastic tour guide speaking very well in English and showing an authentic view of life on the Lake and showing village in dry season compared to wet when lake is high ..A ride in the boat then a canoe ride with local woman paddler and then watching sunset on the floating restraint .

This was an amazing trip . Our guide, Tom was very caring and informative. Having lived in Kampong Kluk, Tom was able share so much first hand information with us. It does not matter if it is rainy or dry season , this is an amazing experience.

Eye-opening

Heang Was a great tour guide! Great to see how the local people live. Lots of kids giving hugs and so happy to see tourists.

## ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An Unforgettable Journey with Tom! If you are planning a visit to the floating villages in Siem Reap, do yourself a massive favor and **ask for Tom.** Our trip to the village was easily the highlight of our time in Cambodia, and that is almost entirely thanks to Tom’s incredible energy, deep knowledge, and genuine kindness. From the moment he picked us up, he made us feel less like "tourists" and more like honored guests. ### Why Tom is the Best: * **Local Insight:** Tom didn’t just give us facts and dates; he shared stories about the community’s way of life, the history of the lake, and the unique challenges and joys of living on the water. His perspective is authentic and eye-opening. * **Perfect Timing:** He knows the "sweet spots" for the best views and managed to navigate us away from the heavy crowds, making the experience feel intimate and peaceful. * **Personality Plus:** He is incredibly witty, speaks excellent English, and has a laugh that is absolutely infectious. There was never a dull moment. * **Attentive & Caring:** He was constantly checking in to make sure we were comfortable, hydrated, and getting the photos we wanted. ### The Experience The floating village itself is a must-see—a vibrant, resilient community that feels worlds away from the hustle of the city. Seeing the sunset over the water with Tom explaining the seasonal changes of the **Tonlé Sap** was a truly magical moment that we will never forget. > "Tom doesn't just show you the village; he helps you understand the heart of it." > **Don't settle for a standard boat tour—book with Tom!** You’ll leave with amazing photos, a wealth of knowledge, and a new friend in Cambodia. Thank you, Tom, for a world-class experience!

After you are Templed Out!

Ken_J, May 2026
Great half-day tour after you have done the Temples. View a different life in a "floating" village, and get to experience the huge freshwater lake and view the sunset. Chout, our tour guide, was most knowledgeable and entertaining. The tour would be better in the wet season when the water levels are higher but it is still fascinating in the dry.

Nice tour with Tom

Tom explained well about the village and enjoyed tour so much. Eye opening experience. Interesting walk around the village with crossing scares crossing

Excellent tour with Tom!

Jenna_M, Apr 2026
Tom is extremely knowledgeable because he’s from the village. We very much enjoyed the tour even with the dry season. Being able to see the structures of the homes was very interesting. I would highly recommend this tour and especially the chance to go with Tom. A definite highlight of my travel to Siem Reap!!

Great tour of the floating village

Had a really good time on this tour. Tom was really friendly and knowledgable on the village. He shared info of the current season and how currently the water is pretty low. So nice to see the villagers and a different side to Cambodia.

I really enjoyed the experience. Chout was very knowledgeable and it was a great way to see a different part of Cambodia. Highly recommend!

Possibly even better in the dry season than in the wet.

Roger_P, Apr 2026
We were fortunate to have Tom as our tour guide as he provided excellent information and was well known to all the locals at the village. He is a very friendly man. Walking among the houses and looking up at them all on poles was quite amazing as it gave you an understanding of how high the water gets (something that would be difficult to imagine in the wet season). We also saw houses sitting on the ground on 44 gallon (200 litre) drums that allowed those houses to float when the rainy season starts. We climbed up to a house to see how people lived inside. After that it was a short boat ride to Tonle Lake were we saw shrimp traps, fish traps and then had the opportunity to buy food and drinks at a floating restaurant. We did this trip in the morning rather than the sunset trip which meant that it was not so hot. We were then in Khmer New Year which meant they will not drop you back to your accommodation in the evening at that time.

Wonderful floating village trip

Our tour guide for the Tonlé Sap Lake and Kampong Phluk village trip was Tom. He was very knowledgeable about the lake’s ecosystem, the seasonal changes, and the daily lives of the floating‑village communities. He explained everything in clear English and was happy to answer all our questions, which made the tour both enjoyable and educational. He was also very considerate and adaptable—checking in on us, adjusting the pace of the visit, and sharing interesting local stories and cultural insights. The boat driver he worked with was safe and professional, so we felt comfortable at all times. Thanks to our guide, this half‑day trip turned into one of the highlights of our stay in Siem Reap and gave us a much deeper appreciation of Tonlé Sap Lake and its people.

Great trip with Pon - very knowledgeable tour guide and was always smiling! was humbling to see the local village. We went in dry season unfortunately so couldn’t see as much of the water village boating experience but walked around to see. Restaurant area for sunset was very nice to watch.

Tom was great!

Extraordinary insight into life of boat people

Memorable Sunset Stilt Village Adventure with Energetic Guide Chout!

Deborah_R, Mar 2026
Chout was an absolute standout—energetic, funny, and incredibly knowledgeable. He gave us a real insider's view of life in this stilted fishing village outside Siem Reap, explaining everything from daily routines to how the community adapts as the Tonle Sap River rises seasonally, requiring those tall stilts. We walked right through the village, watching residents go about their authentic daily lives. It felt genuine and immersive—adorable kids playing nearby and even attending English school added such a heartwarming touch. This was the true highlight: learning what village life is really like. We capped it off with a boat ride across Tonle Sap Lake to a floating restaurant for sunset views. The scenery was nice as the sun dipped below the horizon. One tweak: We spent a bit too much time at the restaurant, so I'd suggest starting later or planning dinner there to fill the time better. Also, wear closed-toe shoes—the paths have loose dirt and rocks. Overall, this was an enjoyable, educational escape from the temples. Highly recommend for anyone in Siem Reap!

Fantastic experience, highly recommended

Alan_M, Mar 2026
We had an amazing time on our tour of the Kampong Phluk stilts home village on the Tonle Sap. We were picked up promptly from our hotel and returned after the tour. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and took time to explain the way of life of the communities living around the Tonie Sap. We thoroughly enjoyed our boat trip on the lake with a stop on a floating restaurant to watch the sunset. We highly recommend this tour.

Incredible Exploration of a Moving Culture!!

Lillian_J, Mar 2026
This was an extremely unique tour, and is highly recommended. Bory (AKA Tom), from a village about two and a half hours away, was our tour guide. He is quite knowledgeable about the local village. It may be helpful to bring hand wipes and sanitizer.

Floating village must do

James, Mar 2026
Pon was an excellent tour guide, we learn a lot about the floating viilage and did the canoe ride. I highly recommended Mr Pon for a tour guide. We had lots of fun!

Floating Village Tour

Jaime_F, Mar 2026
Chout shares a lot of information about the floating village. It really is a sight to see in person. The will of the people who live there is strong. The water was very low so the village was very dry. Sad to see all the boats that are no longer in service since Covid. Thank you for a great afternoon.

Highly recommend

Aimee_W, Mar 2026
Well rounded tour, super patient with the group. Seen the side of Cambodia a lot of tourists don’t get to see
