The 4,170-foot (1,270-meter) peak of Mt. Wellington is one of Hobart’s most famous landmarks. This Explorer Bus ticket offers hassle-free transfers between Hobart and the mountain summit—a 30-minute journey each way. Your ticket is valid all day and there are several different departure times, so you can hop off to hike the mountain trails and spend as long as you like admiring the views from the summit.

Highly recommended short trip to Mt. Wellington, our driver/guide David was informative & funny. I went in mid-May, be prepared to wear warm clothes, hats, gloves etc. The wind was so strong but the view from the top was amazing

So affordable for a great bus tour up to the mountain! Tony was the driver and have a fun commentary (and lots of puns). Wifi on the bus. It’s best to get a left hand side seat for the mountain side view when driving up. I took advantage of the hop on/off option and went off at the Fern Tree stop and did the Silver Falls walk. I had an 11am start and it was my last day in Hobart but next time I will do this tour again and see more of the mountain. The bus drivers communicated through radio so they knew I was to be picked up by the next bus on the way down and it was reassuring. It’s a really narrow shared busy road so better to take the bus if you don’t feel comfortable driving.

Our tour guide Tony was hilarious with his dad jokes whilst being very knowledgeable on the history of Hobart and Mt Wellington. Would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the area. Make sure you bring warm clothing as the top of Mt Wellington has a chilling wind that goes right through you.

The 2nd time we've done this trip. Fabulous way to easily access the mountain. It snowed at the top - yay!! The only way to access the mountain in wild weather. Very much enjoyed Greg's entertaining and informative commentary. Superb views. Would do it again and take time to leave the tour & do some hiking & pick up a later bus home.

A perfect way to see kunanyi/Mt Wellington. Tour guide Tony was a pleasant, professional and very knowledgeable tour driver. Got to see and hear about a number of special sites along the way. Take your winter woolies (beanies and gloves) as it can get VERY cold up the top.

A bit expensive, couldn’t really hear the driver on microphone when we were sitting in the back of the bus over the sound of the engine, and the bus was full on the way back down so we had to wait for the next bus.

We had a fabulous day with our very knowledgeable driver who drove us safely to the summit and return. He stopped on the way to show us special things like a Tiger snake on the side of the road etc. We loved his dad jokes and his witty humour.

A fantastic experience visiting Mt Wellington (Kunanyi). The drive up is beautiful and the views from the summit are absolutely stunning, overlooking Hobart, the Derwent River and surrounding mountains. It can be very windy and cold at the top, so bring a jacket. Definitely a must-do when visiting Hobart.

Our driver, Christian, was one of the kindest humans I have yet to meet. At no time did he make the older folks with mobility issues feel badly. He loves the mountain and it showed. Even though the clouds were pervasive, he made the best of it and showed us everything in his power to make our trip memorable. If you get Chistian for your driver, count yourself lucky. Apparently, he's usually maintaining the busses. 😁
PS. Bring a warm coat & stocking cap. Even in February it was very cold at the top.

Super option for transport up Mt. Wellington! We hopped off once we were headed back down the mountain to do some hiking on one of many trail options and finished up at one of their designated stops. Hopped right back on and were delivered right back to the harbor! Great way for cruise passengers to get off the beaten path!

Christian was a wonderful guide on this excursion, and very helpful and considerate of our friend using a walker. He even included a brief easy trail walk at the Springs stop which helped us appreciate our visit at the top of Mt. Wellington. Even though there were still clouds obscuring most of our view, it wad a worthwhile and enjoyable experience for our brief time in Hobart.
