Itinerary
Your day starts with morning pickup at Brisbane Transit Centre and a scenic drive through Numinbah Valley with views of Mt Tamborine. Approximately 62 miles (100 km) south of Brisbane, you reach Springbrook National Park, which lies within the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia World Heritage area.
Follow your guide on a hike that takes you into the rainforest and past waterfalls in this lush landscape. Hear about the region’s diverse wildlife, which includes more than 1,700 species of flowering plants and 500 vertebrate animals. Keep an eye out for pademelons (similar to wallabies), goannas, Australian water dragons and Australian brush-turkeys.
Near the arched rock of Natural Bridge, you can see Cave Creek waterfall as it plunges into a pool below as well as a cave with glow worms, which resemble tiny stars on the cave walls. Be on the lookout for Australian wildlife such as rosellas, king parrots, bowerbirds and kangaroos.
In the afternoon, take a guided tour of the Tamorine Mountain Glow Worm Caves at Cedar Creek, for your final rainforest walk of the day. See an audio-visual display on glow worms, whose brilliant blue-green lights are actually emitted by the tiny larvae of a fungus fly. Step inside the second cave filled with thousands of glowing worms!
Stroll along the Curtis Falls track, a moderately challenging 1-mile (1.6-km) trail that includes 101 steps. Descend beneath towering gum trees to the viewing platform over Curtis Creek, then continue down to a second platform overlooking a waterfall that cascades into a large rock pool.
After the drive back to Brisbane, you're dropped off at your original departure point.

We had James as our tour guide for the day and he had lots of knowledge to share with us throughout both the journey, and the activity itself. I also found him very humerous. We had a mixed range of nationalities on our bus and thankfully, they all seemed very friendly which made a change. It is hard to remember everything about that day as there was so much to learn and see, but it was a lovely trip and one I would recommend. The Glow Worms were not what I expected at all. I thought they would be a bit like our slow worms in the UK but that glowed in the dark, but they were nothing like them. They were so tiny.

Great experience and must see for Brisbane. Our tour guide had such a keen eye for nature. He was pointing out everything for everyone so they could take their pics. Definitely a friendly guide and kept the conversations going.
Kecia_H, Apr 2026
Great trip, group and guide. we were lucky enough to spot two koalas in the wilds. I do wish we had more time to explore the walks, possibly on our own. We did all walk together, pretty nice hikes. It would’ve been nice to actually have time to walk on our own and take photos on our own spy things on our own without feeling we had to keep with the group .
Response from Host, Apr 2026
Thanks for the great feedback, we’re so glad you enjoyed the trip, the group and your guide. Spotting two koalas in the wild is pretty special, not something we get every day, so that’s a big win. We really appreciate your note around having a bit more free time on the walks as well, it’s a tricky balance on a guided day tour but totally understand wanting that space to explore, take photos and do your own thing. It’s something we’ll keep in mind as we keep refining the experience. Hope to have you back out with us again soon.
Connor_H, Apr 2026
Great trip! Our guide was an absolute wizard at spotting wildlife and the entire trip tied together well. You get a really good breadth of the national parks and the glow worms are amazing!
Response from Host, Apr 2026
Thanks for the awesome feedback, sounds like you had a cracking day out. Spotting wildlife along the way always makes it extra special and our guides will love hearing this. Glad the whole experience came together nicely for you and that the glow worms lived up to the hype, they’re definitely a crowd favourite. Appreciate the recommendation and hope to see you again next time you’re in Brisbane.

It was a very nice mini van with good a/c. The pacing was good. We had 1 stop for an hour to shop/eat which wasn't explicitly declared in the agenda. But, you do get to eat on your own dime. The glow worms were semi disappointing. They have built an artificial cave and the guide is the only one with a light. Everyone gets to see the glow worms (about size of a eye lash). but if you are at the back you wont see the blind cave fish.
The waterfall was a nice walk and beautiful scene. The dam was about normal, but they have a good cafe there.
The most important thing for me is Brian made a point to let us see kola bears and kangaroo in the wild. He took extraordinary steps and it was wonderful.
Response from Host, Apr 2026
Thanks for the detailed feedback, really appreciate you taking the time to share it. Great to hear you were comfortable on board and that the pacing worked well for you, we aim to keep the day flowing without feeling rushed. We include a stop for food where guests can choose what suits them on the day, so thanks for calling that out. The glow worm experience is designed as a controlled environment with a guide leading the group, which helps protect the species and ensure everyone gets to see them, though we understand it can feel a bit different to expectations. Glad you enjoyed the waterfall walk and scenery along the way as well. And we love hearing this about Brian, he’s got a real knack for finding wildlife and goes the extra mile to make it happen. Spotting koalas and kangaroos in the wild is always a highlight and we’ll be sure to pass this on to him.
Shahin_M, Mar 2026
Overall it was a nice tour. My only recommendation is for the tour guide to allow a little bit of down time (even 10 minutes) for people to just rest. Sometime less is more. Also, there was way too much focus on finding birds or other creatures. I'm personally not a birder and don't need each bird in the forest identified. Again, some of it is ok, but too much time spent on hunting down animals.
Response from Host, Apr 2026
Thanks for your feedback, really appreciate the honest take. Glad you enjoyed the day overall. Your point about having a bit of downtime is a good one, even a short window to relax can make a big difference on a full day tour. We also get what you’re saying around wildlife focus, some guests love the detail while others prefer a lighter touch, so it’s about finding that balance. We’ll definitely take this on board as we keep refining the experience.

Busy day of fun activities! Had a nice lunch at the Tambourine Garden and a tasting at the Tambourine Distillery! Bought some Wattle Liquor for a take away! Glow worms were interesting. Our guide was a great spotter of wildlife.
Response from Host, Apr 2026
Sounds like a cracking day out, love this. Great mix of experiences and always hard to go past a good stop at Tamborine for lunch and tastings. That wattle liqueur is a solid takeaway too. Glad you enjoyed the glow worms and that your guide delivered on the wildlife spotting, that’s what makes the day really memorable. Appreciate you sharing and hope to see you again soon.

All the sites were extremely beautiful and if you don't have your own transportation this is a great option to get you out of the city and off to remote sites you would otherwise not get to see.
Response from Host, Apr 2026
Thanks for the great feedback, really appreciate it. That’s exactly what we aim to offer, an easy way to get out of the city and experience places you wouldn’t normally reach on your own. Glad you enjoyed the scenery and the day overall. Hope to see you again soon.
Brigitte_S, Feb 2026
Very knowledgeable guide. We had a beautiful day in the rainforest, with easy hikes and the guide pointed out lots of animals. We saw Koalas in the wild, kangaroos and wallabies. Lizards and birds. He knew exactly where to look and to go. Highly recommended.

Excellent experience with guide James, who clearly loves what he does and is passionate about the natural beauty found near Brisbane. He greeted me welcomingly at the meeting point. His driving was very safe and he curated the group to be cohesive. The minibus was clean and with working seatbelts and comfortable seats. This was a lovely tour of natural surroundings that respects the environment and wildlife. We saw 3, three! koalas in the wild, several native birds, a scrub turkey, a 'patty" (baby wallaby), GLOW WORMS, mini bats, tree frogs, and kangaroos - NO zoos involved. And - even saw a manmade glow worm sanctuary with some frogs, insects, and snakes in terrariums. Started and ended on time. Plenty of clean restrooms throughout the tour! I also enjoyed the stop in Tambourine to have lunch. The stop at the Dam had an amazing cafe- which was unexpected and delightful for afternoon tea and a snack. Thanks James!
Response from Host, Apr 2026
Wow, what an incredible day, love this. Three koalas in the wild is something special and sounds like you had wildlife popping up everywhere. James will be absolutely stoked to read this, he really does love what he does and takes pride in making the day run smoothly and safely while keeping the group vibe right. Great to hear you enjoyed the mix of stops too, Tamborine for lunch and that dam café are always crowd favourites. Really appreciate you sharing such a detailed review and hope to see you back out with us again soon.
Noeleen_S, Feb 2026

Great way to see the subtropical rainforest. The waterfalls and Natural bridge were great to see and enjoy. However, it was the Glow worm cave tour that really made this tour extra special. Not something one can see many places and this man-made cave is an exceptional experience. Only real drawback to this tour was the amount of time necessary in the tour bus to get down and back from Brisbane.
Response from Host, Apr 2026
Thanks for the great feedback, really appreciate it. Glad you enjoyed the rainforest, waterfalls and Natural Bridge, and awesome to hear the glow worm cave was a standout for you, it’s definitely a unique experience. We understand the travel time can feel like a lot, but it’s what allows us to reach these more remote spots in a single day. Thanks again for sharing and hope to see you again soon.
Michelle_L, Jan 2026

We really enjoyed seeing some of the little gems in the national rain forests -- it was a great opportunity to get out of the city. Keep in mind that there is a bit of driving, and going up and down the hills means curves, so it might be helpful to take some motion sickness medication if you are prone to car sickness.
Response from Host, Apr 2026
Thanks for the great feedback, really appreciate it. Glad you enjoyed getting out into the rainforest and discovering those hidden spots. Good tip on the motion sickness too, the winding roads are all part of reaching those more remote areas. Hope to see you again soon.
Eddie_M, Jan 2026
Highlights are subtropical rainforest, glowing worms cave. If you’re not from Asia, the different topography would be interesting. Otherwise, it’s ordinary and definitely not an eye opener.
Response from Host, Apr 2026
Thanks for your feedback, we appreciate you sharing your perspective. Glad you enjoyed the rainforest and glow worm cave, they’re definitely unique highlights of the day. We understand that experiences can feel different depending on what you’ve seen before, and we aim to offer a mix of scenery and wildlife that showcases this region. Thanks again for your thoughts, it helps us keep refining the experience.
Paula_L, Dec 2025
