Montserrat was beautiful! In retrospect, I might have gone for a full day to get more “wandering around” time but it was still amazing. Great views and the choir was amazing. Such a great experience! Angie and Ori (our guides) were great as well.

Shout out and two thumbs way up to our guide Hugo and our driver Caroline! Her excellent driving and his wonderful stories, kind heart, and patience made the trip pleasant and enjoyable. Unfortunately the format of this excursion (5 hours) is WAY too short. Very little time for shopping, walking, exploring, eating. I’d be willing to pay more for another hour or two free time.
9:30-10:30 drive
10:30-11:30 guided tour
11:30-12:45 free time (allow 45 mins for funicular)
12:45-1:20pm Boys choir
1:20-1:50pm Free time

Supremely unique and incredible day! You will need good shoes for walking on cobblestone and uneven terrain. There is some time allowed for exploring to your preference on your own.

Very enjoyable with mix of tour and free time. The bus is comfortable and the guides keep you entertained with historical facts and some local lore.
Melinda_F, May 2026
The visit to Montserrat was moving and provided a peaceful change of pace from the streets of Barcelona. It is definitely worth using one of your days in Barcelona to see the ancient monastery, the museum, the view out over the mountains.
Our guides MK and Nacho were outstanding!

Very enjoyable 1/2 day tour of beautiful Montserrat. Our tour guide ORI was fun and informative and gave us lots of information about the host of the area and also about other sights to visit in Barcelona. Would recommend

Tour guides Nacho and Roberto made this tour the best experience! Great tour overall! (tip, don't go on a local holiday!)
Aaron_C, May 2026
Our tour guide Andres was informational and funny. The views were spectacular. We did the art museum and hike to St Michel when we were there. We had an excellent time.
CRISTY_F, May 2026
The bus was late for about 20 minutes but they did not adjust the time of return to make up for the lost time. The free time allotted was not enough to explore the place.
SCOTT_B, May 2026
Andrew and Lidia were both very knowledgeable about both Barcelona and Montserrat. The Monastery was beautiful as was the views from the top.
Germaine_R, May 2026
Andres and Oliva were outstanding tour guides. They provided good information and allowed the appropriate amount for free time. Would definitely recommend them.

Angela, our tour guide was great. She was very knowledgeable amd helpful. Montserrat is BEAUTIFUL! This is a must see place.
Belinda_C, Apr 2026
The area is beautiful but I didn’t find 2 hours to be enough time there. I would suggest either booking a longer tour option or visit independently so you can hike the impressive trails, visit the museum, take in the basilica when it isn’t packed for the boy’s choir (which is only a 15 minute performance), and have time to eat.

Amazing place. Great tour. Hugo, our guide is a wonderful storyteller. He was able to connect and capture spirituality, history and modern times in his stories.
Paula_S, Apr 2026
We had a great experience with Kamilo and Hugo. They shared a lot about things along the ride and the mountain area. They gave us info on our activity options at Montserrat. They take you from parking and through the Basílica and then you have a couple hours to go on trails, take the funicular, explore the markets or spend extra time in the main part of the Basílica. The bus was air conditioned and comfortable. We enjoyed this tour. They pick you up and drop off by the train station and you see some of the Barcelona waterfront on the bus ride. We were glad we didn’t drive as it looked like little to no parking and what parking there was would be a long walk up a pretty steep hill. The bus parking was very close.

Wonderful day!!!
The winery tour was a lovely addition! Our guide Miro Gave us a terrific tour of Catalonia countryside. Beautiful

Easy to meet guides. Right at train station. Travel by bus about 1 hour. Guides were excellent. Lots of information while riding to and from location. Once at the site they will bring you thru the very small chapel where the black Madonna is located. Single file, just a few seconds to take it in. Church is impressive. Rock formation amazing. No choir on the day we were there. It seems like a small town not really a monastery. If you’re short on time I would skip this and spend more time in the Gothic area.

Xavi was the best. One of the best tours from Viator. So knowledgeable and passionate. Tour was great!
Brenda_B, Apr 2026
It was beautiful and moving. Our taxi driver gave us great information and our tour guide was terrific. The cathedral was moving.

Karen_H, Apr 2026
Excellent tour with Hugo! He provided us with an excellent explanation of all the history of Montserrat. The bus driver provided us with a safe trip to and from Barcelona! Montserrat was an incredible experience.

We’re Lucky to have MK and Aaron as our guides as they crack jokes and trivia in between giving us historical information. It made the trip interesting. Nelson our driver knew his way and made us safe. Highly recommended
irina_i, Apr 2026
Monserrat is beautiful. This tour included transportation there and a short tour. We chose the option that included the Black Madonna. We had some free time to take the funicular to the top and walk around a little bit. Tour came back to Barcelona early afternoon. Beware, the pickup in the morning is outside of the train station. We were waiting inside and almost missed the tour.
rick_p, Apr 2026
It was basically transportation up to the monastery. The guides were good. On the bus ride up, the guides were pretty good with the history of the monastery, but they could have covered the decisions to be made on the things to do: take the tram for the view and to see the buildings up the mountain; the tram up and down or the tram up and walk down; the hike up to the cross, the stalls selling things on the walkway to the monastery, hiking to the cave, etc. I'd check out the train and could probably read about the rest.

Miro and Francesco were both very good and especially Miro who was very knowledgeable and gave an excellent presentation and his English is great 👍
Donald_S, Apr 2026
The bus ride to and from Montserrat provided great scenery and views of the region, while our guides filled us in on the history and traditions of the people. Montserrat is a very special place, well worth the visit. Miro was an absolutely fantastic guide. His mother can be very proud of him.
christiepenollar, Apr 2026
This tour is excellent! We had 2 groups on the bus. Our tour guides Angelica and Rocco shared with us the history of the area and the Black Madonna while on the bus to and from Montserrat. We then split into our groups once we arrived at the monastery. Angelica was our main guide there and she guided us very well and made suggestions on what we can do during the free time. Excellent tour overall.
arlene_r, Apr 2026
Miro was very knowledgable, fun and articulate. Raquel our driver was awesome. It was a wonderful trip.
Julie_L, Apr 2026
This is a perfect outing from Barcelona. The bus ride was less than an hour and you see a beautiful mountain range with the monastery. Our tour guide Rocco provided a great history on the drive there and back. Would highly recommend. this was one of my favorite spots in Barcelona
Angela_P, Apr 2026
Hugo was an excellent and knowledgeable tour guide!!! We were so glad we booked this tour. Hugo provided so much information while being so friendly and polite. We would definitely recommend Hugo! We wish the tour was an hour longer and a microphone/headset setup would have been beneficial at the monastery as depending on where you were standing, it was hard to hear him.
