The town of Koprivshtitsa is located some 110 km southeast of Sofia. It is a 2-hour transfer along a road, which passes via small valleys and traces the southern foothills of the Balkan Mountains. Probably, the best way to understand the roots of the Bulgarian Renaissance Period is to learn more about Koprivshitsa's 19th houses with their colorful courtyards, surrounded by high stone walls and gates. The disorderly built curved and narrow cobblestone little streets and plots and the numerous stone fountains contribute to the attractiveness of the little town. Many of these houses are turned into museums, but each one has its own identity, which corresponds to the main business and the size of the family of its owner. A memory for lifetime

We had a truly wonderful experience on the Viator day trip to the Rose Valley and Koprivshtica. The entire tour was very well organised and offered a perfect blend of cultural immersion and scenic beauty. A special highlight was our tour guide, Maria, who was absolutely outstanding. She was incredibly knowledgeable, passionate about her work, and communicated everything clearly in excellent English. What really stood out was her attentiveness and consideration for the needs and comfort of all her guests, which made the experience even more enjoyable. The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the Rose Festival. Participating in the rose picking in the fields was a unique and memorable experience. The festivities, with traditional folk dances and songs, created a vibrant and authentic atmosphere that truly captured the spirit of Bulgarian culture. Koprivshtica, on the other hand, offered a peaceful contrast. The village was quiet, beautifully preserved, and full of charm. The guided tour of the village was very informative and allowed us to appreciate its rich history and architecture. Overall, this was a very impressive tour that I would highly recommend. Great personal tour

The tour was as described. Since it was a personal tour, we were able to make stops, go fater or slower - as desired. We learned many important aspects of Bulgarian history and saw Bulgarian architecture (no where else in the world). A very interesting and enjoyable day. We felt safe and our guide was entertaining. A must if you want to get to the heart of and understand Bulgarian culture. Booking was easy and the driver arrived as prearranged.
