The Baja California Sur peninsula, located in the heart of the Sea of Cortez, is considered one of the best places in the world for ocean safaris and observing marine wildlife in the wild. In recent years, this destination has become popular due to the biodiversity found around Espíritu Santo Island and Cerralvo Island (also known as Jacques Cousteau Island). Between March and June, vast aggregations of Mobula rays gather in these waters, while whales and dolphins are frequently encountered. These conditions have led to orca sightings, as they are attracted to the area to feed on Mobulas. From July to December, warm water temperatures and good visibility provide excellent conditions for exploring the marine environment. During winter, migrating whales travel between the coastline and the islands, creating further opportunities for wildlife encounters. La Paz, Espíritu Santo Island, La Ventana, and Cerralvo Island form one of the best corners of the Sea of Cortez.

Snorkeling Adventure in Espírito Santo

This tour is an absolute must for anyone visiting La Paz! Our adventure began the moment we left the marina on a small boat and were immediately greeted by a pod of dolphins swimming right alongside us. It felt like a dream. From there, we sped across the beautiful Sea of Cortez, taking in breathtaking scenery and wildlife along the way. We saw blue-footed boobies, adorable sea lion pups with their mothers, and explored stunning coral reefs filled with marine life. Every stop offered something unique and unforgettable. Just when we thought the day couldn’t get any better, we were treated to an incredible surprise on the way back a mother whale and her calf. Watching them surface for air and gracefully move through the water was one of the most majestic wildlife experiences we’ve ever had. Our tour guides Alexis and Maja were attentive and made sure that our adventure was well organized, exciting, and filled with unforgettable moments. Book Now!!!! Book Now!!! As a Mexican i was extremely skeptical, thinking why am i paying for a tour? But this was a great decision. Fernando & Estevan are incredibly knowledgeable. The views and all our pictures are amazing. Also their Long Sleeve water shirts came in clutch! Pictures Do Not do the views, and atmosphere justice. Worth every penny. Yes it requires some Fitness, but worth it all, especially the hike to the top is worth the climb. The views you will see are unforgettable. Book Now!!

The most excellent tour in La Paz!!!

Karen n Juan de Dios let an amazing tour.We had an excellent pick up they even put down a step so we wouldn't trip. They were so informational and good-humored.Made us feel so comfortable. We went to four places , and they brought the most delicious cerviche and tuna salad sandwiches- all we could eat!! They offered a variety of drinks-even cervezas! They kept us very safe and in the end, their equipment was so comfortable. They were so hospitable and kind I was able to buy a mask and a snorkel from them. I'll come back to them anytime and would totally recommend their tour--- with these particular two people Karen n Juan de Dios!!!

Wonderful Experience

We had a wonderful experience today with Javier “El Cuate” and Angel. We found our first whale shark and they were so helpful getting us close. When we lost that one, they found a second one and we were able to go in a couple more times. Plenty of time with the whale sharks and in small groups of 3 or 4 people at a time. They were professional and all the wetsuits & snorkel gear was in great condition. I would highly recommend.

Incredible Whale Shark Experience

We had an incredible Whale Shark Experience. We were lucky to find a whale shark almost immediately and saw a few swimming around the boat. The Marine Biologist and the Captain were fantastic. We were able to snorkel with the whale sharks 3 different times and each experience was amazing. Our tour had 10 people and we broke up into 3 groups which gave each group plenty of time to snorkel with these amazing animals. We loved the entire experience and were happy to hear that only 14 boats at a time and only 56 boats per day are allowed to visit the whale sharks. We were the only boat following our particular whale sharks which made it feel like a one on one experience without competing with multiple snorkelers and boats. This made the experience feel personalized and special. We would highly recommend this tour.

Wonderful tour!

SunRider Tours was well-organized and easy to deal with. Our guide, Juan-Manuel was awesome and very knowledgeable. Swimming with the sea lions was an amazing experience. We travelled at the beginning of Feb, so it’s chilly in the water (even with wetsuits) and it’s a lengthy boat ride too, so do be prepared with warm/windrpoof clothing. Great food and plenty of drinks - water, pop, beer etc available.

Highly recommend!

This private tour was absolutely spectacular--in part due to the incredible natural areas we visited and also because Miguel and Regina are fantastic guides. Everyone in our party was delighted by this experience, especially snorkeling with the sea lions, tropical fish, and coral reef. A delicious lunch on a small beach in a secluded bay was the perfect way to complete our tour. It is rare for everyone in my family to equally enjoy any activity, but we all agreed that this was the highlight of our entire vacation. Highly, highly recommend!

Great Tour for Los Cabos 101: Introduction

This is an outstanding way to get an overview of Los Cabos, to see where you may want to spend more time. The three destinations are very different. There is time to self-explore, but Isiah was also wonderful at answering questions. Our Spanish is still poor (we are trying!) but he effortlessly presented in both languages. I saw one criticism that the comfortable van stops at gift shops. No, gift shops appear where tourists want to be, meaning the stops were centrally located. It’s definitely purely a lot of road time, as these places are far apart.
