What are people saying about Hoi An

History we don’t often learn about
We had a great time on this tour exploring My Son. Lyn was our guide and was very knowledgeable as well as funny. She taught us about the Cham people but also modern life in Vietnam. We were picked up on time from our hotel and the tour bus was pretty comfortable, though full. After about an hour we arrived and got our tickets, then drinks. I got a hot tea, but once I got there I wished I’d ordered an ice coffee since it was already so hot. Learn from my mistake! Lyn led us around the site and inside a few of the buildings, which was really cool. I think because it was so early there were very few people there and it was pretty easy to get photos alone. There are a lot of cool carvings, statues, and script to see and sadly bullet holes and craters from bombs. Yet the best preserved sections are all original, not restored. It’s a really impressive site. After exploring we got lunch which was a turmeric noodle dish and very tasty. We enjoyed getting to know our fellow travelers and learned a lot, which is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!

10/10 recommend this unique experience.
I did the Hoi An Full Lantern Making Class, and it was such a fun experience. Our instructors, Huy and his brothers and sisters, were all incredibly lovely, patient, and helpful. Huy especially was amazing, I’m definitely not the crafty type, but he made the whole process enjoyable and helped me every step of the way. They taught us about the history of lanterns, which was was fascinating, and creating our own lantern was such a unique experience. We got to choose our own design and were taught how to assemble the lantern, as well as how to properly collapse and reopen it without damaging it. Plus, the playlist was absolutely banger. 10/10 I highly recommend this class!

Great experience and value! Definitely recommend!
Tony was an excellent tour guide! As many other reviewers have pointed out, going for the earliest tour is without doubt the best option to beat the heat and the crowds. Transport was smooth, breakfast was good, and the boat ride back to Hoi An was peaceful. The ruins themselves are impressive, and it was fascinating learning about the Cham people and their history. The short traditional dance was a huge bonus at the end of the tour!

Wonderful excursion into the local food of Hoi An
We took the food tour with Swan, it was a great experience. Swan was very engaging and at the outset created a congenial atmosphere for all members of the tour. She combined visits to sites where some of the raw sources of food were derived (noodle makers, sprout producers), and then to various restaurants/foodcarts/vendors where the actual foods were prepared and consumed. The tour took us to places we would have never found on our own and gave us a greater connection to the lives, livelihoods and food of regular Vietnamese. It was a delicious and delightful experience.
